  2. Spot fat john 50 on heavier copoly or mono. I throw it with 17# and it runs about 12-18 inches. Waddlebats will do the same. I have better success with these.
  3. Been there. If you blink driving through you'll miss it.
  4. Good to hear man! I know you are fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle. These set backs are painful on the mind when we want to be working out but can't!!! I'm in that boat now as well. Blew my shoulder out two and a half months ago and still it's not healthy! I'm actually getting depressed not being able to make it to the gym! Like you my shoulder will heal and all will be right. Glad to hear you're back! Always seems to happen to me when im peaking too!
  5. May have been mentioned already but make some space for some finesse baits. 1/8 or less ball head jigs. 3 Inch flukes or worms. Micro cranks such as the rapala floating balsa baits. Sometimes it saves the day.
  6. Agree. I've caught way more fish jigging it compared to slow rolling it. If you see a follower, kill it and let it sink to the bottom.
  7. Bamafrogs had them in stock a couple days ago edit:gone now
  8. Real prey. Joe will paint it however you like and will last MANY fish. It's molded from a real shiner as well.
  9. Look for differences within the mat such as where two different weeds meet. Look for stumps or cat tails within the mat and punch toward the base. If there is current punch the weed "points" as sometimes they ambush from the outside. Pump your bait slow, faster, let it sit on the bottom even or pump it up and down only a few inches from the top. Eventually you could figure out a pattern. If you feel anything set the hook right away.
  10. Dink striper?? Lol. Am I missing something!
  11. I purposely pi$$ off my wife and eventually tells me to go fishing to get rid of me for awhile.
  12. Signs No fishing/Trespassing. Fort Myers Sucks.
  13. My area looks like that too. 95% of them are off limits though
  14. For Florida grass fishing I'd skip on the hudds. I use what every other guy in Florida is using now and that's a paddle tail type like gambler ez for example. The hudds tear up to quick and they have gone up exponentially in price over the years. I prefer to use weedless shads or six inch versions in clearer water with gravel or Boulder bottoms.
  15. 1/16 ounce ball head jig and zoom tiny fluke. Swim it and jig it. Sometimes they will follow and if they don't commit kill it and they eat it off the bottom when it's resting there.
  16. I have not tried the ponds yet. Most of them in this area are marked off anyways. There are a couple I'm thinking about trying. What's the conditions on okeechobee as far as the spawn. I havnt been there all year, maybe it's time to go!!
  17. That's what I'm talking about! 2+ pound bluegills are what I'm looking for. I know there here I just can't find em!! The cichlids are everywhere as well but that's not what I'm targeting. I see bluegills in the canals but have not been able to get one to commit on a beetlespins or small jig yet
  18. I hope your right about that but locally here around fort Myers and estero in the small ponds and canals even ten pounders are rare!
  19. Hey guys. Lately I've started building an ultralight setup to throw 1/16 or less size jigs and beetlespins. I'm trying to catch some of these monster gills here in Florida. I have a boat to go to okeechobee but when I run out for a quick session I'm hitting local canals. Where do you guys think these big gills are located in the canals??? I'm only using artificial to catch them. After my first day my bluegill count is ZERO!! Although the bass will eat these without issue. Am I in the wrong place or is there another artificial lure or technique I should be trying?? thanks!!!!
  20. I like that one. If anyone finds it post a link!!
  21. Mac weakley caught her outside the mouth off a bed so he released Dottie. Jed Dickerson I believe caught her at around 21 pounds and it was certified. I'd have to go back and look it up. I read it years ago.
  22. Almost got to think guys like tom and butch we're excited with a 19.3 but with all the talk of actual world record bass in there area years ago that was probably the one they were waiting to have certified. Mike long had close to a world record. I wonder if siemental has anything close to 20?
  23. Probably not but I do know for a fact Butch Brown was a couple years ago. Unless Butch caught a bigger one I believe his PB is the same as Toms.
  24. Would that be the lv500?? And do they come in silent versions. I prefer the silent over the rattles. The old cliche let the fish tell ya, they tell me they don't like rattling baits as much in the areas I'm at
  25. Any other brands fall like the RES when stopped?
