  1. Hey all... Within the next few months i will be in the market for a dropshot rod.. I'm just wondering what you guys feel is the best length and action for these rods. I'm planning on getting a spinning rod and I don't want to pay too much for it ($150 tops).. I'm sure loomis makes a great rod but i don't dropshot enough to get a 200+ one at the moment. So what do you guys use for dropshotting and why? Thanks alot (sorry if this topic was covered a lot before.. i did a search and couldn't really find any answers)
  2. companies hire field staff and stuff i guess... but why would you want sponsors?
  3. my dad taught me how to trout fish (probably the best trout fisherman i have ever seen) and i pretty much just taught myself how to bass fish. (and I taught dad how to bass fish)
  4. i've never used a daiwa fuego in my life but that is an awesome, awesome deal! if i had a hundred bucks i would definatley try one!
  5. i've had some luck in PA on a magic swimmer and a Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper
  6. wow.. i dont usually mind people posting questions about different rods.... but i guarantee you if you scroll down you will see about 10 different posts about the vendettas... scroll down or do a search and you'll find your answer
  7. nice stuff rooster! i'll post mine later... gotta get the battery in my camera charged up.. You probably already use it alot, but that Rainbow Trout X-rap in your jerkbait box has caught me alot of fish and is one of my favorite jerkbaits.. As for missing, maybe a couple frogs (SPRO or R2S) and maybe a Lucky Craft sammy or some Poppers.. if you are a big fan of Rapala's like it looks like you are, they make awesome Poppers... also my absolute favorite popper lure is a cheap Matzuo one
  8. i would definitely check out powells lineup.. http://www.***.com/descpageRDCPOWELL-PCBR.html they have real nice rods and for 139 dollars you might not find a better rod.. and now if you spend over 100 dollars they offer free over night shipping!
  9. So my first ever baitcasting rod was a Berkely Tactics Pro rod/Cranking (6'6 M action) It says designed for Jigging.. it was a hand-me-down (i guess). My grandpap gave it to me a couple years of go.. it had dust on it but looked like it was brand spankin new it also had an older shimano reel on it.. not even sure what model.. He had to of bought this a long time ago because he hasnt fished for at least 10 years. I've used the reel over the last 2 years and i absolutely love it. Its very sensitive and has a nice backbone.. I'm just wonderin if anyone has ever used one before? and how old you think it is? I use it now primarily as my crankbait rod.
  10. thanks for the link bilgerat!
  11. Thanks a lot.. i'm gonna give our current President/tourney director a call this weekend and talk some things over... i'll let you know what i decide and i'll contact you if i have any questions.. again i appreciate it
  12. welcome to the forum!
  13. a friend of mine has a kvd quantum reel and while he is picking out his birds nests, i am reeling in fish with my Revos.... If you're throwin topwater, put some 8-10lb mono on it.. I like suffix mono
  14. Get a Revo STX($199) or a Revo S (100-129 depending on where you look).. They give you the best bang for your buck IMO... Don't shy away from a shimano either.. there is a billion guys on this forum who love them
  15. jerrod, the lakes freeze over.. at least in the central part of the state.. i am assuming western pa lakes freeze as well..
  16. could you please elaborate?
  17. Micro, Those rods look brand new!! awesome!
  18. It depends.. I usually carry 3 or 4... def. have to have green pumpkin, watermelon, pumpkin, and black.. and i like all of my plastics with red flakes.. just a confidence thing
  19. Hey all, I just joined my local bass club last year and had a fairly decent year of fishing. Our tournament director is stepping down and he asked me if I would take his spot. I have a lot on my hands as I am the youngest member of the club(22 yrs old) and a graduate student. I would love to do it, and eventually, it might help me take over the job as president of the club someday. I am just wondering if anyone has experience with tournament directing for a small club (about 20 active members) and what it takes. Any help would be appreciated! thanks
  20. I assume that was how the research was driven, but I would like to see what "most" drives fisherman to buy what they do, which would only take into account one opinion (and produce a 100% total). Then by looking at the results, the highest percentage would probably be the "most". Which would be from another experienced angler. That's just how I would interpret it. I would say these results are fairly accurate as well...
  21. Watermelon Red Baby Brush hog and 5" Green Pumkin Red senko
  22. I agree with robby... I can honestly tell you I may have picked up and actually read one or 2 of my textbooks in Undergrad... Study the powerpoints and the notes that you take in class... most teachers use the books as a reference... if you pay attention and take good notes in class you will only need to reference the textbooks instead of read them because you didn't pay attention or take good enough notes in class... do it right the first time that way when studying, it is all review for you.. also, whenever I bought the texts, I got them from half.com.... if you have an ebay and a paypal account you are good to go.. you will save yourself lots of money by using half.com rather than your student bookstore.. they are nothing but scams (ie. selling you a book for 200 bucks and not buying them back at the end of the semester)
  23. Gammys.. I like the Eagle Claw Lazer sharps but I had some trouble with them rusting this year. If I'm out fun fishing I will use the Eagle Claws but if i am in a tourney, all i will use are Gamakatsu's... I went through all of my hooks a week or 2 ago and had to throw out pretty much all of my LazerSharps.... I didn't have to get rid of one Gammy due to rust...
  24. that made me tear up :'(
