  1. Flushing and re-oiling the bearing is actually taking the bearing out, soaking it in acetone to get rid of all the old oil and debris inside the actual bearing, (optional: spraying it with brake cleaner to push out the rest of the dirt/oil), letting your bearing dry on a paper towel for a few minutes, and then adding ONE drop of oil to the bearing. Just putting a drop on the bearing will not make your reel as smooth and crisp as this first step.
  2. Powell Endurance. You will not find a better rod for the money. I have converted 3 of my fishing buddies over to Powell from both st.croix and kistler
  3. I agree, this is a good question. Same thing goes for a lot of other baits including PTL craw d'evores or any other beaver type bait..... Keep them on or pull them apart and you got 2 different baits.... Try them first with craws connected and if that isn't working, pull then apart and see what happens
  4. I do it all the time to make sure my drags are backed off.... Don't forget they are loosened because if you hook a fish, your in for one heck of a fight haha
  5. I don't do anything to mine after a trip... Unless you dropped your reel into the water or were fishing in slip, you don't need to do anything special with them.. The only thing i TRY and do after every trip is take my plastics off my hook because the salt in the plastic will cause your hook and your hook holder on your rod to rust
  6. Vinnie, I am a Revo fan for sure so I am biased... but i think if you get the Lews Tournament MG for the same price, you can pick it up in the 5:1 ratio which would be most beneficial for cranking... I would go with that one...
  7. Give that baby a good cleanin and you will be good to go! I've bought and used many display models without a hitch
  8. I have the 7'1 Powell endurance 2- power....
  9. If you bought anything other than the Powell Diesel, you would be a fool!
  10. What action and length are you looking for? Tackle warehouse has a couple Powell max and Powell endurance rods for 109$. If you buy one of their 10% off gift cards you have yourself a less than 100$ baitcasting rod and I GUARANTEE you will not find a better rod for 100$
  11. Agreed. Cal's drag grease is my favorite for drag washers
  12. Vinnie... Same questions again and again... YouTube and google are a wonderful thing.... Google it.
  13. 80$ for a handle? yikes! If it catches the fish for me I am in..
  14. Also, What part of PA are you from?
  15. Vinnie, There is oil that will come with your Revo when you purchase. Use that. Put a drop of oil on each of the exposed bearings once you take off the sideplate and remove the spool and you should be good for minimal cleaning and maintenance.
  16. Vinnie, Go with the Gen 3 Revo S.. Put it on a Veritas. You got yourself a cheaper, but better combo in doing so. The rod is much more sensitive than a Vendetta, and the reel is priced 40$ cheaper than the SX. I don't own a Gen 3 Revo S but my Gen1 and 2's are as good if not better than any of my other reels. They are smooth casting and easy to adjust. If you like Abu Garcia (which by the sound of your questions about rod and reel choices) then stick with it. Don't let people try and deter you from doing so. They make quality products and are pretty much all I own. I would not purchase a brand new baitcasting reel that did not have the REVO stamp printed on it. I have tried other products and those saying that Revo's are buttery smooth but lose their smoothness after getting put through a beating either A. Don't know how to take care of a reel, or B. Don't know how to clean them.... or Both... Shimanos have less bearings so I guess that is less bearings that will get dirty and slow your reel down some, but I would not be so soon to jump on the Shimano bandwagon as which 90% of this board has done. Its rare to go through a post titled ABU garcia, Quantum, Lews, Daiwa without getting bombarded by LMG or someone else saying Shimano, Shimano , Shimano... It gets annoying especially when someone asked a simple question about a rod/reel combo not pertaining to their brand of lust.
  17. Haha! What're you smokin??
  18. Okumas customer service is bar none. I can't say that about any other brand.
  19. Welcome man!
  20. I have: 2 Revo S 1 Revo SC 1 Revo SX 3 Revo Stx 1 Revo Winch 1 Revo premier. All are gen 1 and gen 2 reels.. I can't wait to try the new gen 3
  21. Lol wow I could only get through about 1 minute of that video. Sounds like a 5th grader who can't even read the label on the boxes
  22. looks like the piggy bank is getting lighter.. that powell mustve just went on sale!
  23. wow that is a good deal. I dont see anywhere on the website that says that
  24. If I had to pick between your options, the Veritas 7' M is your best option. If you were open to suggestions and you wanna stay in the sub-100$ price range, get a Powell Diesel! Wait for the TW sale and im sure you could probably get 2 for 100$
  25. Hey guys, I am in a bit of a toss up between these 2 rods. I am looking to pick up a medium action casting rod. I am in a toss up between the Powell Max 702c and the G. Loomis GL2 852CJWR. Powell is a 7' M and the Loomis is 7'1 M. I am planning on using this rod to throw shaky heads, weightless senkos, and 1/8 + 1/4oz Salty Spiders... I know Powell Rods very well but I do not own a M action casting rod in a Powell. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The reason why I am debating between the 2 is because I can get both of them for the same price.. Thanks!
