  1. Eleven hundred. not eleven grand.....unless you insist. ;D Get what fits your needs best.
  2. I have a Porta boat for sale. This boat was purchased new in March of 2007. We were to pack it with us on trips with our travel trailer for fishing. The fishing trips did not happen. The boat has been used on a local lake about 6 times. It is spotless and in very new condition. The web site can show it's features and functions in great detail www.porta-boat.com . Set up takes minutes and is easily rolled to water's edge on the removable wheels. It can be powered by a gas outboard or electric trolling motor. It moves very easily with little power. Great for "electric only" lakes. Purchased new would cost $1,349.00 for the boat and $229.00 for the wheels, for a total of $1,578.00. Oars and set-up stick (used for assembling) are included. I can transport to a meet point within reason and gas cost compensation. Photos can be supplied. Asking $1,100 or make an offer.
  3. Fully charge your battery, then check the sp with a hydrometer. If it's low a battery tech can adjust it up (stronger). Then have it load tested. That's where a high current draw is made while watching the voltage drop. A weak battery's voltage will drop under load. A tech needs to do this and evaluate it. I don't know where to find a tech (I used to be one), so buying a new battery may be easier. A too large a charger for the battery will cause over heating too. My charger takes 12+ hours/charge for a half discharged condition and never gets even slightly warm (slow rate of charge)
  4. Dragging anything in river current is bad. If it snaps, you are in deep poop.
  5. Wow, do most of you guys disconnect the oil line and pre mix the fuel???
  6. You didn't list G3. Aren't they a highly thought of alum boat?
  7. I since called Gamin. The guy said there needs to be 10 ft separating the 2 sensors if on the same freq. So bow and stern mounts should be okay. Anybody find this not true?
  8. What is considered the lightest bait weight that a bait caster should cast well?
  9. I have a right hander and don't have any problem changing hands after a cast. But looking at left handed reels, it would appear that casting would be smoother if switching the rod between hands didn't need to be done. What are your thoughts????
  10. The bait monkey is so bad with me that I'm on a first name basis with the people at Cabelas. :
  11. I have a Garmin unit with transom mounted sensor. I want to install a second unit on the bow (TM mounted). How likely would interference be if a brand other than Garmin be?
  12. He's practicing his "side stroke". 8-)
  13. Why pitch or flip rather than a short cast? What is trying to be accomplished?
  14. This afternoon I rigged a cover support. I cut 2 pieces of 2" pvc 18" long and slid them over the seat posts. I topped them with "T's". I ran a 2" dia piece from "T" post to "T"post, with a "T" & post piece in the middle for snow load support. I'll shot some pics later. I think I'll do the tarp thing over the custom cover for the winter storage.
  15. Use BTS on your upholstery, carpet, and cover. It prevents mold and mildew while protecting the fabric. What's BTS?
  16. That's why I 'pack heat'.
  17. I'm not talking about a 'how to' manual. I look at a whole wall of plugs that are different shapes and colors and think what are these intended for. Something that would tell me or group them into; Deep running, middle level, sinking, floating, imitation of what?, intended for what, etc. They all must have a sweet spot or design target of operation. From that point of depth, speed or motion a fisherman could add variations and changes in tecnique to suit local conditions and styles. Sorry, just a minor rant. ;D
  18. I did a search on mildew and nothing turned up. I'm concerned about mold and crap and would like to read comments on it.
  19. Sounds like fuel/delivery problems.
  20. I'm a stream fisherman too, who has started bass fishing in a boat this summer. On my last 3 outings for bass I caught perch, pickerel, catfish and a musky.....no bass. LOL I'm learning, but I don't know what.
  21. If he's bigger than you, just shut up and sit in the back.
  22. Drown him. ;D
  23. With all the different baits on the market, I'm surprised the manufactures don't have "how to use" info available, or is it I don't know where to look. I have been away from fishing for some years and the new baits and terminology is bewildering.
  24. Since getting my boat mid summer, I have had problems with the trolling motor foot control. I'm never sure if the power button is depressed, and when it is, is it still on, or did I lift enough for it to go off. I wind up scritching in my seat to get my foot at the right angle to click the switch on. Anyway, here's what I did. I took a button that is intended for the bottom of a table or chair leg, and bolted it to the "go button" on the foot control. I tried it out today and it worked great. I just flop my foot on the control and can feel exactly where the switch button is, and I don't have to angle my foot around to click it on. If you have a problem like this, give a leg button an try.
  25. Thanks for the shots of the fish finder screens. I got my first finder on a new boat this year and am trying to figure out what I'm looking at.
