  1. If it's too hot out, paint will melt. My crankbait painted eyes started drooping. Keep your soft plastics in separate bags by color else the colors will mix due to the heat.
  2. I realized I'm not going to catch a limit or fish at all every trip. If fish aren't biting, practice your cast to specific targets. Or try new lures that I haven't tested out yet. Make every trip a learning experience.
  3. If using cranks, once it bumps something give it a pause to deflect. I used to crank it and drive the hooks in deeper. Surprised you're not able to get it off when fishing on a kayak. You should be able to get it out using other angles.

  6. Tubes and dropshot if you're going for smallies on LSC. You can catch largemouth practically on anything.
  7. Also, look for cover where fish can hide pads, overhanging trees, grass, etc.
  8. looking to spend $50 or less for a crappie combo. any suggestions?
  9. not in michigan
  10. i cant swim either and if anyone dare push me into the water, he better hope i drown
  11. i'm not one for superstition, but in the last few outtings, i've hooked up on the first cast and skunked the rest of the day.
  12. ahha... agreed.
  13. If you have grass on your t-rigged worm, most of the time a quick hard jerk of the rod will clean it right off.
  14. Watch for snakes? That's something I don't have to worry about fishing in MI.
  15. I used to get all worked up about it. Now, I shrug it off and wonder what I did wrong or what I could've done differently.
  16. My Vendetta is MH. I don't use my baitcaster for casting small lures like that, but if I was going to (or to test), I guess I should start by putting on mono to get the best results.
  17. I've got a 7' Vendetta paired with a Abu Garcia SX 7.1 20# sufix braid ... and it's extremely hard for me to get that tiny torpedo any distance at all without backlashing. And if I do get it out, my accuracy is way off. I've tried adjusting my brakes. Is it just because I'm not comfortable with it yet, is that why I can't get it to go on my baitcaster setup?
  18. Good post. I'm gonna try this for smallies on a local river.
  19. Their gumball jigheads are crap. The hooks bend and break too easily. Even the Pro Series. I bought a pack of their Slurpies Dip Stick and on my second cast I had a fish on. I went home after that and haven't had the chance to try them since the past weekend.
  20. I think it was the Mr. Twisters that shows on the bag to hook it tail up. But I like it tail down.
  21. What kinda setup do you use when you're throwing a Heddon Tiny Torpedo? I'm using a 6' St. Croix Premiere ML, Shimano Sahara 1000, 4# mono and have yet to catch anything on the tiny torpedo. But I can imagine the fight I'd have on the end of my line if a SM were to smash it.
