  1. Angling Adam, What size of split-shot were you using and what was your presentation? Cheers, CWeb
  2. This is amazing. My marriage will definately last forever now....I'll stay out of her hair reading this stuff all day.
  3. Looks like you had a great season Dave. Nice fish and beautiful lakes. Cheers, CWeb P.S. Weber's Web.....coming January 2010
  4. Good looking fish! Is the bottom soft where it was caught? The colouring would indicate that...just curious. CWeb
  5. There's some nice fish. See perseverance pays off :
  6. simplejoe, thanks for the post. It sounds like a drop shot for jerk baits. I like the idea and will have to give it a try! CWeb
  7. Nice fish. The markings are beautiful.
  8. Great fish A-Jay. I like the way you tell a story as well!! Keep 'er coming. CWeb
  9. Thank you all for the great posts. Keep them coming!!!! I agree with East Mark.....how do you tell the difference between bait balls and vegetation and more importantly, how are you able to determine the difference between the bait and the targeted fish? To be honest I can't tell where on your sonar (in the 2nd pic) you are referring to as lines that show the bass. The more feedback the better as I also struggle to read sonar :'( Thanks in advance. CWeb
  10. While I have had success with drop-shotting walleyes I am looking for feedback on how to work it for smallies. Do you just cast it out and slowly work it back to the boat/shore or do you present it in more of a vertical presentation? Also, how would you describe the way that a smallie bites it (walleye nip at it)? Any drop shot overview that some of you veterens can provide me would be most appreciated. The smallie lakes that I will be fishing have lots of boulders and rock piles and if I want to venture away from shore I would think this is a technique that I will want to feel confident in. Thanks in advance. CWeb
  11. Great fish and photo. What do you mean by, "saddle hole?" I'm thinking, if this kind of structure produces that type of figh I should familiarize myself with what a saddle hole is and look for it when I'm out next. CWeb
  12. Nice photos. I see you're rocking them on a tube. Is that your go to bait? CWeb
  13. Great photo. I can see that shoreline over your shoulder producing more on the topwater. The laydowns and such must make for nice morning action!? CWeb
  14. hey, fatwobbler, just putting together a bait monkey list here: Who makes the DT22 and DT16 and what colours do you recommend? Also, is there a model name/number and depth range for the Poes that you recommend? Thanks in advance. CWeb
  15. That's some serious advice roadwarrior. Thanks. Let the DD begin! CWeb
  16. roadwarrior, Unfortunately, I have two spinning rods I use for fishing right now. A medium/light for finesse and a medium/medium for topwater, cranks and small spinner/buzzbaits. I know, I need to get some baitcasters mixed in. My question is, as I stated in my Introduction not long ago, I am in the process of buying all my SM and LM bass baits, plastics and terminal tackle as well as rods and reels over the next 10 years so that I have everything I need for reitirment. In your opinion, do the specialty rods (crankbait, drop shot, topwater, etc.) really make a difference or is there ways that I can cut costs a little so that I get the most feel and action for several presentation on one rod. I'm not saying that I just want one rod and reel but rather 4-6 instead of 15-20. I hope I make sense. Cheers. CWeb
  17. I had no idea that this type of rod existed. Would you say that in addition to the finesse (grubs, tubes, drop-shot, senzo) capbilities that it handles top waters (zara spooks, pop-r, floating rapala's) and crankbaits (shad raps, X-raps) as well. I guess in short, can this be used as an ALL around SMBass rod? Cheers, CWeb
  18. What Subwalk colours work well for you folks in clear to stained water? How do you present this Rapala? Thanks in advance, CWeb
  19. Perhaps some of you can provide me with some ideas on how to rig the Fluke as well as how you would present it? Thanks in advance, CWeb
  20. I would suggest two places: In the morning try throwing topwaters around the flat looking hump in the Southwest corner of the pond. This sould work well for you for several reasons. First, the south end of the pond will heat up faster than the rest of the pond which should turn baitfish and such on before other areas. Secondly, its near a drop off so the Smallies don't have far to move from their night spot and their mid-day hang out spot and lastly, it's by current as seen with the creek outflow in the the SSW of the pond. In the afternoon I would move to the NE side of the Easter hump in the middle of the pond. This not only is a nice drop off but it is also adjascent to where the creek channel should be as I expect the creek channgel runs right between this hump and the 40' hole in the middle of the pond. I would drag some tubes and jigs down the side of the hump or run Shad Raps (in a craw colour) along the edge of the creek channel. Let me know how these scenarios turn out...not only is it nice to see you succeed but it also let's me know that I'm onto the right idea when handicapping water that I haven't fished before. Cheers, CWeb
  21. I couldn't agree more. If you have access to a fly-fishing shop, take your black buzzbaits in there and ask them to tie in a few strands (assuming you don't have a fly vice of your own) of tinsel. On evenings when you get a full moon or even just clear skies, the tinsel will add a bit of flash to skirt. This brings extra attention to the silihouette that the black colour will give you. Hope this helps. CWeb
  22. tnbassfisher, or others; How do you work your Rebel Craw crankbaits? I know they have a wait in the lip to keep them on end like a real Craw so I'm curious. Thanks. CWeb
  23. I was going to visit the Bait Monkey here in the next while, what sizes and colour patterns do you recommend. The lake that I will be fishing is clear and rocky. Thanks in advance. CWeb
  24. That's just stupid!!!! I've seen Dave Mercer catch tanks like that on his show a fair amount on Erie and Ontario but to see Average Joe makes it that much more impressive. Mercer talks about using a Goby Gulp on a Shaky Football Head or drop shotting with Gulp Alive. Congrats on your brutes! CWeb
