  1. Well, I ended up taking my TM into the shop. It ended up being the circuit card going bad. It's being replaced right now and will be ready to hit the water in the am!!!! Thanks to all who helped! William
  2. The fishing is pretty good right now if you can brave the drizzle, wind, and cold. Wind is out of the North / North East so the water level is low but you can still launch your boat, just be careful. Water Temp is 59 degrees. It was pretty consistant with the water temp on the river and creeks. I was catching bass on spinnerbaits & plastic worms. You really have to work the cover. The bass are tight on the cover but they are biting. I also caught some crappie for the frying pan. I caught them on minnows. Again, you have to be close to cover for them and play around with the depth. Once you get on them you will catch good numbers. Talked with some of the guys out there and they said they have been doing good catching bass & crappie, and a few of the guys said they have been catching some strippers too. Wet a line and have some fun!
  3. Hello, I have a MotorGuide TR-82 Tour variable speed trolling motor not sure of the year. Today out on the water she quit working. I replaced the micro-switch in the foot pedal last week and that got her back up and running. Today, I got shallow and into a brush pile. I used the pull rope to raise the trolling motor up to the surface of the water and gave some power to the trolling motor to goose the boat around the limbs in the water. Right when I was finished the trolling motor stopped working. At first I thought it was the breakers. I checked them and they were not set off but I reset the just to make sure, and she still didn't work. Is there something I could have messed up on the trolling motor? Or something to check or reset? I just went out with my voltmeter and checked some things out. I charged my trolling batteries back up and went to the trolling motor pedal to get some readings. At the pedal where the power goes to it I am getting 25.52 volts with my fresh charged batteries. At the micro switch (button I push with my foot to make the trolling motor turn on) I was getting .261 volts. When I pushed the button I got 00.000 volts. Does this mean the new switch I just installed is bad? I would think when I push the switch I should be getting more than 00.000 volts. Thanks for your help in advance. William
  4. It is possible, but probably unlikely. When you come off plane, does your follow-on wake swamp up to or over your vent cap? If so, it's possible. It's possible if your boat sits outside that rain could have gotten in thru your vent. Does your vent have the cap over it? If so, I would close it after you are done on the lake. I would lean towards condensation, but that is alot of water. Hopefully your mechanic drained your fuel for you. I would HIGHLY recommend with each time you put gas in your tanks to put a fuel stabilizer in with it. Glad to hear your engine isn't worse for wear and you can be back on the water quickly!
  5. I would take your batteries out and fully charge them for storing. Then I would charge them once or twice thru the winter to keep them fully charged since they will wear down alittle thoughout the winter. If you have a wood shelf or pallet to store them on it would be better than just putting them on concrete.
  6. Water in your gas would make it stall. How it gets in there is from condensation. Gas has up to 10% Ethenol in it. Ethenol attracts water. When your tank sits part way to all the way empty, the empty void gets condensation and that is the primary way your water in the gas comes from. You should be using some type of fuel stabilizer like Sta-bil, Startron, or SeaFoam in your gas to combat this. Mechanics can check to see if there is water in your gas. The good news is, this is an easy fix! Put only enough gas in your tanks that you will use each time out plus alittle extra for a reserve and put the fuel stabilizer in it, or fill your tank and top it off each time you are done on the water and also include the fuel stabilizer of your choice. But YES, water in your fuel will cause your engine to stall. I hope this helps!
  7. I have a 93 Mercury 150 XR6 outboard. Changed my lower unit gear oil this morning and it looked slightly milky at first when it came out. I think I might have a seal that is letting water in. I was planning on having a shop replace my impeller this fall, but might as well speed that up and have the seals replaced too. My question is....What would I be looking at out of pocket getting seals and impeller replaced? I know you can't say exact but just looking for a price range. Thanks for your help!
  8. Is there a public ramp along there?
  9. Hello Everyone! New to the board and new to the Va. Beach area. I have a Nitro Bass boat and looking for a place to fish that allows outboards. I live just up the road from the West Landing Marinia on the North Landing River. It's tidal....but use to that fishing the St. Johns River the last 10 years. Just looking for alittle guidiance for good areas north or south of the marina for some decent bass fishing! Also, what baits are good there? Thanks in advance for your help! William
