  1. i once consolidated some ribbits (poor frogs) with some manns elaztec frogs. just imagine what happens to the Jokers face in Batman...better yet...it looks like the Joker held that plastic bag under his chin while his skin was melting off, catching parts of his face in it....that's what it looked like
  2. i had a comical run in with a snapping turtle a few months ago. i caught one fishing with a freakin 1/16 oz road runner. anyways, i got him to the surface and grabbed the back of the shell (since their head only comes out so far...right?) so my buddy could get some hemostats on him. well what i didnt know was that he actually could stretch his neck out and almost bite his own tail if he wanted to, so i freaked out after a few of his attempts to destroy my hand, fumbled the turtle, lost the hemostats, and nearly had my rod pulled into the water. little a-holes haven't survived millions of years for nuthin
  3. lily pads are our friends and enemys in bass fishing. one of the few times i will "ski" a bass to the boat is when i catch a fish in the pads. they know exactly what their doing down there. they know how to get leverage on a pad stem and escape without putting slack back in your line. cant tell you how many times i've kept tension on the line thinking the fish was still buttoned, only to troll up to it and find my hook wrapped and buried deep in the pith of a pad stem. get you a broom stick and some 80 lb braid. As David P said a while back, every "next fish" could be your next personal best so make everything in your favor. (or something like that)
  4. geez...her head looks to be about 3x as big as your hand....at least. what a sow
  5. another fan of oxblood. bama bug is my sure fire
  6. bloody cats. caught a 35 lb flathead at the spillway one time with a craw pattern crank. thought it was the striper of a lifetime. you'll get her
  7. lemmie guess you're fishing in stagnant backwaters off the river with a craw. lol i've done it too many times. i always fish ON the main river when there's not much current.
  8. i absolutely feel bad targeting spawning bass. any other time of the year is fine, but spawn is a critical step in their cycle of life. i've started to back off the beds
  9. dude, thats sick. like homeboy on caddyshack having the round of golf of his life, except you didn't get struck by lightening. sounds like you you were using the ******* *** in its element. well done
  10. i also caught a bass last week that had a bloody spot on the bottom of its rear fin. my guess is that theyre fanning beds. awesome catch
  11. with the way they've been eatin a lake fork craw tube these past few weeks, i may have to go roll with that
  12. also my top rattle bait, with stinger trebles
  13. nice man sounds like a fun trip. i hear bowfins some good eatin'! never tried it though.
  14. i say at least 3 lbs. i give up. what's the weight???
  15. need a name? i know its a frog but the body looks like a beaver bait so call it a kickin' beaver! sweet frog!
  16. there is a lead weight under its butt that'll pull it down a little, but that weight is key when youre tryin to walk the dog
  17. bobby's perfect frog is my frog of choice but even they start to take on a little water eventually. for one, the plastic where the tassels come out isn't exactly 100% impermeable. also, the line ties on bobbys perfect frogs pivot freely, so after a few good fights/monster hooksets, that ring tears the plastic thats hugging the line tie, letting even more water in. still my favorite frog.
  18. literally first cast took on water? you may have a dud. i've heard those frogs were specifically designed to pretty much eliminate water logging. however i can't see any frog being completely waterproof. i always have to squeeze my frogs out after 4-5 casts to keep it floating right. small price to pay. you throwing it on mono or braid?
  19. i never fish a pond without throwing this old piece of crap popper. caught me more fish in ponds than i would bother counting. if that don't work which it does, just not as prolifically as some days, i throw an array of plastics and if they're active, they're not picky with which one. i catch fish on everything from mag finesse worms to flappin hogs, once i get on em. ponds are relatively easy to fish if they're feeding, given the average size of ponds. so i say catch em how you wanna catch em!
  20. haven't done a whole lot of worm modifications but i think your idea is cool. i cut slits longways down the flaps on a brush hog. mainly i do a little carving on some of my plastic craws, for the sake of detail and confidence. here are a couple paca craws side by side. i just cut the claws out a little more.
  21. i wonder how many baits have been written off, merely cause they were thrown where there were no fish. i couldn't catch a fish with a chatterbait to save my life
  22. well its about time. exciting video!!
