  1. From over 20 years of being in the aquarium hobby and maintaining MONSTER FISH - DOVII.. ARROWANAS (known glass bangers and jumpers) and having them jump out of the tank and onto the floor, and over 30 years of fishing and taking a quick picture and them being on the ground for less than 10 - 20 seconds, I've never lost one single fish or come back to the area and see one that I have potentially caught die. Now if there is something that have missed through out the years, could you please point me to that information so that I may read through it and possibly change the way that I handle them Sweet man you're not on monsterfishkeepers by any chance are you bro? lol Uhhmmmm....yes I am ;D
  2. Sorry I let your question go unanswered. But the STEEZY combo is one heckuva setup. It is like holding a ultralight combo in your hands, but having the strength of a heavy action rod. It is unbelieviable. Now take it that I didn't catch one fish while using Steezy's setup, I've seen some of the catches he has hauled in and he has done it with no problems. This is a combo that I would love to purchase, now I just have to bring myself to getting over the price tag
  3. Hey....I've seen that fish before
  4. Does anyone use these 1/4 ounce buzz baits? I see they have one heckuva deal on their site in all colors. I'm thinking of picking up a few to add to the collection?
  5. THANKS EVERYONE!!!!! She is definitely a joy to be with. Just having her with me, and watching her sit on the cooler casting out her senko, and talking, you never know what's going to come out of her mouth. It definitely brings back memories when I used to go out with Pops on the early morning fishing trips. These are times that I will hold very very close.
  6. THANKS ALL....she is very very timid around new things. When she pulled it out of the water, it was flopping around and she took off running up the hill ;D I had to coax her back to me, that's the reason she is staring at the fish like she is. It was maybe 9" long, and with the camera being so close, it looks like a MONSTER She asks everyday when we are going back to catch more fish, I think she is hooked, but now we have to work on showing her that the fish flop around and that they won't hurt her. She is only use to fish sandwiches from McDonalds
  7. Well I took the little one out on Sunday for a little fishing. She was using a senko wacky rigged. While she was dragging it along the bottom, she said, "I got a fish, I can't wait to see it." Watching her line, there wasn't much movement so I grabbed ahold of her line and it took off to the right. So I told her to reel it in, and when she finally got it in, this is what was on the end of her Barbie fishing pole She said she was going to catch a big one like me. Well to her this was her BIG FISH
  8. LMB in hobby of aquariasts are considered monster fish due to the girth, lenght and overall size of the fish. Plus making sure that the fish have adequate filtration, you would need an amazing system to be able to handle the bioload. If you want to hear more, check out monsterfishkeepers * and there is a plethora of information on there, plus you can see just how large of an aquarium you will need to be able to house such large fish. And for the 30 gal you are speaking of, that could only be used as your sump for filtration for these monsters, not as their home
  9. I've gained a new appreciation for soft lures. I've just started fishing them about a month ago. The feel of you picking it up, a little twitch, then tick tick tick line swimming off, then hook set..... But I still love fising spinner baits right under the surface. Bettle spins either right under the surface or fishing it deep. Also buzz baits, seeing the wake, hearing the explosion, and feeling the weight of the fish then hook set. I love any kind of fishing as long as I'm catching fish
  10. Ok....you cats are making me nervous. I am trying to do everything right here. I am trying to educate the youth, and also TRYING to preserve the eco system by catching and releashing fish. But this slime coat removal thing is getting a little too deep here. I am into the hobby of fish keeping also, do I need to start carrying around a bottle that helps promote slime coating and spray it on the fish when I release them?
  11. It was fun explaning everything to the boys. They were very excited at looking at her, touching her they were a little nervous especially when she started to flop around in my hands.
  12. And before PETA comes after me, the fish didn't touch the grass for more than one second, when I had to lift it out of the water

  14. Well after work, I met up with Steezy. We met at his pond down the street from his house, and I've got to say that this place has a lot of potential. A few more baitfish and this place is golden. Steezy, looks like we might have to take a catch net and head out to the wooded park and bring in some of the bream from there. Also, he let me get my paws on one of his rods. I've got to say that the Steezy combo is something to behold. It's so light, but you can tell that the quality is in the rod/reel that it will be able to handle just about anything you throw at it.....Thanks for that, now I've got to get my two bikes and trailer sold, and I know what my next purchase will be. Well I was able to pull two out tonight before heading home. So here are a couple of pics of tonights catch
  15. Steezy, I was cracking up when you told me you landed a catfish. I guess it is now proven that catfish will eat anything. The bite definitely went wayyyyy off this afternoon. I've not had a day like that out there period. I do not know if the fish gods didn't like us today Here is a nice lil 2 - 2.5# that I landed before you showed up.
  16. x2 I don't see a whole lot of fun in it. : fishing is fishing, whether its at a big 20 sq mile lake or a 5 acre pond next to a golf course. A lot of the same techniques apply. The waterfall Im talking about is a 10ft high 25ft wide man made waterfall with a ledge at the bottom that has a 1ft space that goes back under the falls. I used to cast a spinner in front if the waterfall and catch decent 1-2# bass but one day I accidently cast into the water and pulled out a 4#'der. If thats not fun I dont know what is! I discovered they like senkos and shad plastics the best. Best part is that its only 1 block from my house so I can fish everyday. (I also fish at the big local lakes but its a lot more trouble than walking 1 block and the fish are not any better at the lake) Care to share this little honey hole? :PI wouldn't mind doing some catch and release
  17. Are we talking tournament fishers or just regular informative fishers? I would have to say Jimmy Houston.....I used to get up and watch his show as a kid, and then after he goes off, out to the pond I go
  18. TY to everyone up there ^^^^^
  19. I have been bitten by the bug again. I've always LOVED fishing, going back to when Pops used to wake me at 5 in the morning to help get the boat together and head out to the lake. Well last year a buddy of mine asked me if I wanted to go night fishing with him and his Dad, so I was like lets go. Well now that projects have slowed down at work, I got a call about a month ago, asking if I want to go night fishing again. And you know that I jumped at the opportunity. Well, I have broke down and got me my own gear for starters. I have been doing a lot of fishing at small ponds, and some of the lakes around my house. I will say, that I will never ever ever ever go this long again and not at least fish for some bluegill
