I would suggest either trilene 100% floro, or bass pro xps floro for docks and clear water. If you are fishing really thick stuff, go with some power pro.

I recently broke my favorite baitcasting rod, a bass pro extreme, and need to get a new one before my 2 day tournament on lake st. claire next weekend. My spending limit is under $150, and i want to know what is the best rod for the money

My vehicle is finally done for. It was a '91 jeep cherokee with a 6" lift, and 32" tires. Ran for about 280,000 miles before it died. Looking for a new vehicle now. I want a car, but i know whenever spring time comes, i'll wish i had an suv or truck to pull a boat....

I think it is a preference thing, if you are convinced that they are really going to be more useful than any regular cranks, then go get them.

Try this.. use a heavier rod with low stretch line. When your jig gets caught into a patch of weeds, grab the butt of the rod with both hands and give it a sharp jerk. The jig should explode through the weeds, and settle back down. This can cause wicked reaction strikes too.

Well ive caught quite my fair share of pike. These guys are everywhere in the lakes around here. First point, they are actually quite hearty fish, and can survive a little handling if necessary, and fighting them back to the boat won't kill them. They have a tendancy to float for a while after a hard fight, but after a few minutes, they usually regain strength and take off. The hook in it's mouth will probably not be a problem, i once caught a chunky pike with a hula popper stuck in it's mouth, and it looked like it was there for a while. The mouth was all tore up, it looked like the guy who left it there gave it a little too much effort in trying to remove it. And for the size of the fish, the pics can be very misleading, but my guess would be about 30" and 7-8lbs.

The only problem we could find was that there was no oil in the lower unit. We took off the LU drain plug really quick right away and a bit of oil came out, thought it was o.k. But after checking it later, there was pressure built up when we took the plug off, it smelled like burning oil, and it looked like there were some metal fragments inside. The trolling motor is a 2005 motor guide 71lb thrust, and we have no idea what happened with it, it just quit while we were using it.

Well heres the thing, the guy took us out on the boat for a test drive before we bought it. It worked great, everything performed perfectly, and there wasn't a thing that went wrong. He drove it around for a while, and let us drive it for a while too, had it opened up doing about 65mph for quite a while, without a problem.

The first trip with our "like new" procraft bass boat. Performed flawlessly, and was very happy with the purchase. The guy said it was ready to hit the water, and it seemed as if he was correct. However, on the way back, the motor died. Later inspection seemed there was a detail missed. There wasn't really any oil in it and it must have blown the lower unit! And then to boot, the trolling motor died, and we can figure what is wrong with that! If you have any advice in fixing it, or finding parts, that would be greatly appreciated. This is my first bass boat, and i was as excited as could be until this major let down. BTW, the motor is a 1986 yamaha pro v 150hp. It was rebuilt a few years ago, and has only a couple of hours on it since then.

My main concern was stopping, actually. The trailer doesn't have brakes. Another concern was that the vehicle has a 5" lift and 32" tires. I forgot to mention that before. And hopefully you all are considering the 270,000 miles with your answers.

I live in eau claire, which is in berrien county. Most of the fishing i do is on indian lake, pipestone lake, and a couple of times on magician or paw paw. But until recently i have been stuck in a 12' aluminum boat with nothing but a trolling motor. Now that i got a bass boat, i hope to be able to more effectivley fish the bigger lakes that i was too intimidated by before.

I just got my first bass boat. A 17.5' procraft with a 150hp yamaha pro v. Now my question is, can my 1991 jeep cherokee pull this? Im pretty sure i could manage, since the I6 motor has 190hp and 225ft lbs of tourque, but here is the kicker, it has 270,000 miles! It runs fine and everything works well, so i might give it a try anyways.

I thought that fishing a t-rigged trick worm would be a little bit of a super finnesse technique that would give me a bunch of little guys, but i tried it a couple times this year and managed a 4lb 9oz bass. KVD caught an 11lb bass a few years ago in a tournament using a shakey head. So if anybody tells you trick worms are a small fish bait, you might want to consider where they got their information. Fish them on top, down deep, fast or slow, you should be able to catch fish on these if they are there.

btw, I second the rat-l-trap, however, fishing it below 8-10ft. can be tricky, but productive. My favorite bait of this style has become the strike king red eye shad, sexy shad color, of course ;D

rapala DT15 is a good one, and the fat free shad has produced for me as well, however, the norman DD22 is unmatched in my opinion when you are deep water crankin'. You can fish from 10-18ft with these depending on your casts and speed of retrieve. I just started getting into deep crankin' this year, and wish i started earlier.

Well, I have had a pretty decent time fishing so far this summer. In the last month, i have caught bass that weigh 4lbs 11oz, 4lbs 9oz, 4lbs 3oz, and 4lbs 1oz, along with a slew of 3+lb fish. Im getting a couple of rolls of film developed with nothing but nice fish on them. Within a few days, Ill show you guys some of the bass I have been into in michigan so far this summer, including one outing where i managed a 17lb limit!

What is your go to lure when you are skipping docks all day? I would probably be throwing a 3/8th oz. evolution jig with a chigger craw trailer.

Has anybody here fish paw paw lake in southwest michigan? I hear plenty of great things about it, and have never been on it myself. I may be going there with a friend who is a bit of a newbie, and I would love to get on some decent fish. Any help?

1000% positive that is a green sunfish. There are tons of them here. They have big mouths and seem like they could be a hybrid, but really they are pure sunfish

just tie on a chunk of something covered with penut butter, and see if some chipmonks hold on. Im sure they would for a little bit, and you can drag them in to you. Not as cruel as a hook, but still really funny. I know this works with frogs, you dont need hooks, they hold onto anything and you can just lift them up to you.

Was fishing for perch in lake michigan, and hooked into something weird. Landed it, and it turned out to be a round goby. I ended up catching about 5 of these between 2 and 6 inches. They are tiny, dont fight much, and are pretty much pathetic, but look really cool.

yea, that is exactly what it looks like. On this site, they dont even have smoke listed as a color, just smoke purple.

I bought a new spool of yo zuri hybrid the other day, 10lb as usual, got home, took it out to spool up, and noticed the line is purple! I looked at the color labeled on the box again to make sure, and it is supposed to be smoke colored. I put it on anyways because i was going out the next morining. The line seems to perform just as well, and the fish didn't seem to mind, but i was wondering if anybody else have come across this.
