  1. Just want to start a place where anyone that fishes the Potomac River, Poorhouse Pond, Sleepy Creek Lake, Shenandoah River, Opecquon Creek Cacapon River, Cacapon Park Lake and any other body of water in the area can share stories and info. My son I fish mostly at Poorhouse Pond and Cacapon Park Lake. We have only been fishing together about two years. We have some success at Poorhouse mostly last year. My son caught about a four pound largemouth this summer at Poorhouse. That is our largest combined fish. Please join in and post anything you like.
  2. Thanks Munkin and again Basser on the boat advice. I have been working 6 days for about a month now with only being off on Sundays. I am today and tomorrow. We went up to Sleepy Creek Lake in WV last week. We had to take our old(1977) Ford truck back on gravel mountain roads for about 7 miles to get to lake. I got a little worried we wouldn't find our way back out and the lake being 200+ acres seemed a little big for us having only oars at this time. We came back home without fishing. :-[ I am having a hard time registering my boat in WV. Last it was registered was in Delaware by my grandfather was in 1980. The WV DMV says I need a bill of sale. I bought boat when I was 13 in 1968. I have no title, bill of sale, no registration and no place to get one. That is holding up the boat and motor process. We may just go to Sheperstown and stay within a feww yards or so from ramp. I've seen people paddling boats and kayaks there a lot. Sorry for the long post. Really enjoying this site. Especially now that I can log-in without using the temporary deal. I was member of "Fishing Maryland" website and must have been banned for some reason. Not sure why. Thanks again.
  3. basser - Thanks. You are correct no outboard. We've been looking on E-Bay a lot. All seem to be a little out of our reach. No big hurry. I travel acroos bridge in Williamsport on way to work...river seems to be a little low now. Thanks for your help. Any ideas on a battery? Thanks again. I'll apologize for typing now. :-[
  4. I've got a 10 foot jonboat and a 17-lb thrust electric trolling motor. Does anyone know if I could use that in the Potomac...either at Willaimsport or Sheperdstown. Seems like the current might be too strong. Also can someone recommend a battery and charger/maintainer combo for the same. Thanks. My son I fished Sunday at Sheperdstown...caught nothing...maybe too hot. Thanks for any info advice on the boat and battery.
  5. Hi. I live in Martinsburg. I am/was a member of Fishing Maryland...not sure why I can't post there anymore. Maybe a technical problem. That would be a great site for you to join for help too. My son I recently fished at the Rumsey bridge at Sheperdstown, WV. Caught one smallmouth and had three hooked and lost and missed three others. You can fish either side of river there. I saw some bluegills there too. We parked in the C & O Canal lot at bottom of bridge. Be careful going to shore. Not sure I can help much else. You can also go down the road along the towpath to a campground at the mouth of Antietam Creek. We haven't tried any other spots...but it looked like several places to shore fish. Good luck.
