  1. ok from what 'v found online seems like mi has only Gizzard shad, and it seems to me that most inland lakes do not have them. Just wondering if anyone from up north can confirm this. -Seeker
  2. what are these fish? some links to some freshwater shad pics would be cool. Not even sure if the lakes up here in mi have them, and if so what they look like and what habitats they prefer. thanks -Seeker
  3. I think Senkos are the softest and most flexible worms i have used, and i like how heavy they are; Though they break/tear easier then any of the other soft plastics i have used.... -Seeker
  4. where i fish(MI) i generally have alot of lilly pads around....thick lilly pads, they are usually 2-4 feet of water. I get alot of hits in the pads on my initial cast. but after that it's hard going. my poppers have a hard time getting through the really thick stuff(which is most of it). I just picked up some zoom toads and some yum toads. so my question is..other then these lures, what is good for sishing this kind of heavy cover? i know there are some nice bass hiding in them cause i'v seem them jump out of the water about 2 feet from shore....with 30 feet of lilly pads between me and the shore. sooo...suggestions, comments, tips.....pro advice is welcome thanks -Seeker
  5. get yourself some fireline. it wont break (well i haven't had mine break yet this summer) or just some decent mono....spiderwire sucks imo....it broke on me alot too. -Seeker
  6. watch the line a little closer, maybe reel in a bit more slack. Those hooks should be plenty big to lip nice size bass, if you set the hook reasonably quickly. -Seeker
  7. yea..grab some tiki sticks...or see if maybe your local bait shop sells some molded senko ripoffs... the bait shop by me does, and i like them better then tiki's... same price tho. senkos are expensive and tear easier then most plastics(they do work good tho) -Seeker
  8. thanks a bunch guys -Seeker
  9. hehe yea..i'v caught a hook or two in the hand...and i do carry needlenose tho i try not to horse the hooks too hard with the needlenose for fear of injuring the fish. if it's hooked in the mouth does that need to be a concern? -Seeker
  10. just wondered if you guys had any tips on removing treble hooks more quickly from fish. They seem to take me alot longer to get out then single hooks....more points, makes sense. Being the concerned fisherman that i am, i just thought you guys might have some tips to help me get the fish back in the water more quickly. thanks -Seeker
  11. i use it just to hold the plastic on the shank of my hook. never had much luck glueing plastics back together....usually when they are spent i'll just throw em in my bag then use em wacky rigged later. and yea when a fish finally does get the worm unglued from the shank of the hook you usually wanna scrape off the old glue...it's really easy with a little knife. might even be able to just leave it one...i just have always scraped it off. -Seeker
  12. 20 acre pond(hey, it's a pond in MI) 4.5 - 5 lbs trolling with a night crawler for panfish -Seeker
  13. yea PA i use swivels for basicly everything. It's easy and i havent had noticible problems(tho this last outing i had bought a couple topwaters to try and the hooks got caught 1 out of 7 casts) Being the newb that i am; i just thought i'd ask why this makes much of a diffrence? or maybe some links towards articles that talk about how tieing/swiveling affects action? thanks guys -Seeker
  14. i've tried the dollar store cheapy stuff a bunch...they were a pain to say the least(picture riggin plastics in the night with a new moon.) then i went to my local tiny fishing store and got some...i think it's quik-tite...or something like that. regular tube, no casing thing. and a cap that snaps on tight....haven't had a problem with it yet(It's almost gone. $2.00 tho 7Lbass's stuff sounds good -Seeker
  15. <~~~~caught a gill on a cigarette butt ...i was like 12. and lots on hot dog pieces lol -Seeker
