BA, From the pics, boat looks very skinny. Model #1432 pretty much gives it away; it has a 32" bottom width. When I was in search of my jon boat, my first question was about the bottom width measurement at the transom. That pretty much decided the length of the conversation. Be patient and keep looking.

I agree with recommendations for a 48" bottom width. My flat bottom jon is 14' long with a 46" bottom. It wasn't as wide as I would have liked (48"), but it fell onto my lap fully rigged at a great price. Boat is stable and comfortably fishes 2 standing.

If you're not picky, keep an eye on craigslist. I picked up mines for $40, hydraulic adjustable pedestal w/butt seat. Seat color even match my seats. Saw another one last week on CL for $30 but someone already swooped it up.

I roll with JJ's on all my bottom contact baits. IMO fish holds onto it a little longer, plus I like change of color on jig trailers and soft plastics.

As sensitivity goes, it compares to the mojo and premier. They all share the same blank material. Sensitivity is decent. Good $70 stick. I'd use it for moving baits rather than bottom contact.

There have been numerous discussions regarding powell rods. I know, because I've searched and read most if not all of the threads when I was shopping for my first powell rod. I believe the rod you're wanting is the 683c. I have the same rod and I absolutely love it. Rod is light, sensitive, and has good quality components. Just a tad tip heavy, but that Energy reel would help balance it better. I mainly use it for spinnerbaits and finesse jigs, but that rod covers a few other techniques. Line choice depends on your wallet and application. I use 10-12lb PLine CX. TT also did a review of the 683c; you should check that out if you haven't already done so. You won't go wrong with the 683c.

I agree those fasteners wouldn't be effective under constant stress and load. I would cover the top of the benchseats with 3/4" plywood sealed with water sealer or exterior paint. The plywood would be secured to benchseat via screws. That'll give you a sturdier base than the thin benchseat aluminum alone. From there, you can mount swivel seats of your choice. Others have used toggle bolts directly on top of the benches, but I don't trust the thin alum on my benches to hold my heavy butt. Good luck to you.
