  1. 7 inch berkely power worm
  2. Berkely Chigger Craw ZOOM Chunk
  3. I bought some Berkely 10" Power Worms, and I will probably do a Texas Rig or Carolina Rig, but not sure if one is preferred over the other considering the size of the worm, or if it even matters at all. So, for those of you that fish with 10" worms, what presentation do you generally go with? Do you present it differently than you would a 7" worm?
  4. W&M was more known for their fly rods than anything, and their fly rods were very nice and expensive in the 40's and 50's. They were partnered with Granger and made some rods that now resell for over a grand in excellent shape. Their casting rods were nice as well and were sold through Eagle Claw for sometime. If you take the reel off the rod, you will see the Eagle Claw brand on the rod where the reel sits. They are nice rods, and if you take care of it, it should last a long time.
  5. I would have to say the largest explosions that I have seen have come off of a ZOOM Horny Toad. The "KERSPLUNK" sound has a definate uniqueness to it that is hard to forget, and is always at the back of my mind, even when fishing lures that arent topwater, haha.
  6. I'm having a great deal of luck right now with a KaRu Vibrashock. However, I never know they hit until i feel the vibration stop. If it wasnt for the vibration, I probably would miss half the fish I have caught.
  7. As soon as I get out on the water, my hands are burning for the feeling of that tap-tap or thud. The fight is fun, the hookset is fun, but the the strike to me is the best. It means that what you have worked for, what presentation that you have concieved, was good enough to pass muster. It means you are doing it right. Thats my favorite part, to realize im doing it right. Catching a fish here and there is nice, but knowing that you used your skill and knowledge, and it resulted in a strike, not by chance but by skill, well, that to me is what its all about.
  8. I like the chigger craw a lot as a trailer. It helped me gain confidence in jig'n which wasn't easy until using the chigger craws as trailers. I prefer a Green Punpkin or watermelon color. That Breen definately doesnt go well with the Crigger Craw pattern from KaRu, so don't ever bother trying it out
  9. I have three shirts that i generally wear, all similar but a different color for each. Also, once i get the boat out on the water, I will sit for a minute and just look around. I won't cast until i have had sufficent time to look around me and relax for a minute. Kinda like letting everything inside of me get loose and relaxed. I might just thumb through my baits and look at them for a minute or so, or check out the trees, etc. For some reason I think that if I'm relaxed, then the bass will be relaxed as well, haha.
  10. Middle of July to middle of August, 103 degrees, no clouds, high water temps. The waters i fish are shallow <10', so when the water gets this hot and the sun is directly over head, almost all of the fish head to the lilly pads for shade. I dont have to search for them, and it doesnt take long to figure out what they are wanting. Just makes it that much easier to have a good day fishing.
  11. I believe that they have the Castaway CTX rods made exclusively for them as well. I have two and love them, only about 50 bux a piece and well worth the price in my opinion. They are cheaper than BPS and Gander on just about anything. When I see their H20 hard swimbaits, I hold them for a few minutes before putting them back. So tempted to buy one, but I havent heard any reviews on them yet.
  12. Terminator Tiny T Jig. Picked it up straight out of the box and the weedguard fell right out, lol. The guard was one big glued mass of plastic strands. Picked up the seond box, opened it and the same thing. Will not buy another Terminator anything.
  13. Rapala Shallow Shad Rap - generally goes 406 feet but with some mono it will run shallow Strike King 4S - Great square bill shallow wood cover lure Bomber Model B - Fat body wide wobble 0-3 feet Rapala JSR-4 - great wounded bait 4 to 6 feet but with mono will run shallower Bomber FF Shad Guppy - 4-6 but with mon will run shallower
  14. double uni with the larger diameter making additional wraps around the smaller diameter. Thats how the instructions say to do it if I am not mistaken.
  15. thats interesting that you all say that, considering i havent lost a fish on regular 10 lb vanish yet. I have used it alot as a leader for braid, and havent had any issues with it yet, and have pulled in numerous fish with it. researching more, it appears that regular vanish should not be used for leaders as it is made with different polymers or something to make it more supple. Maybe that is why so many of the people on this board have had issues with it, I wonder if yall were using their regular flouro as leader material. Even still, I wouldnt think it would make that much of a difference so there might be something there to lookout for. thanks for all the replies guys.
  16. from what i have researched, the leader material is much tougher than the mainline. They put admixtures in the mainline formula to make it more supple so it won't be so stiff and will stay on your reel while the leader material has better abrasion resistance, is stiffer, and tougher. From what i have read, the mainline is your typical spool used for casting line while the leader material is strictly used for leaders and is considerably better while the mainline should not be used for leader material. Just looking to see if anybody can validate that.
  17. Whats the difference between the Vanish Flourocarbon Leader and a regular spool of Vanish Flourocarbon? There is a distinct difference in price between the two, and I am curious as to why that is.
  18. thank you for the reply. it appears to be made of bamboo or cane, cant tell.
  19. It appears to be an old 2 piece spin casting rod and written on the shaft in what appears to be hand script is: Wright & McGill "Granger" Super Deluxe (This line is a little hard to read, worn pretty good) hs(?) MSDC-6 1/2 FT Trademark Carbide Guides and has the eagle claw logo next to it. It appear to be a Under where the reel would go says Eagle Claw Does anybody have any information on it? Wright and McGill said that they do not keep records of older model poles so I am a little curious as to what this rod was designed for.
  20. thats great and all, but WHERE'S THE FROG!!!
  21. generally around the time the lilly pads start to come up. However, as soon as the milfoil and hydrilla get within 2 feet of the surface, Ill start throwing frogs, even if there are no pads to be seen.
  22. Hi, its good to see all you guys here tonight, my name is Aaron, and I'm a Frog-A-Holic also. I have been trying to quit the frog for a long time now, but the urge never subsides and is always present. Sometimes, I find myself dreaming of top water explosions on frogs. On occasion, right when i wake up in the morning, a split second before i blink, i see lilly pads on my bedroom floor with bass swimming under them. I swear they are real, but they always dissapear when i blink. Anyways, I just wanted introduce myself and say that its nice to know I'm not alone out here, and that there are others who share my problems. :D
  23. ZOOM HT's with a 5/0 Owner Twistlock
  24. depends on where you are located and what waters your fishing. For me, I fishing mainly weeded lakes and ponds, so i would load up with a hundred dollars worth of: Topwater lures (Rapala F series and Rebel Minnows) Frogs (ZOOM Horny Toads and Stanley Ribbits) Jigs (Flipping or Pitching) Soft plastic creatures and worms (ZOOM Brush Hog & Berkley 7" Powerbait Worms) I can fish year round with that
