  1. I have a pack of these 3" pearl shaky shads and i have no idea what is a good way to rig it. Has anyone used the before? If so how did you rig and fish them? here is a link to what it is http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_90516_100007000_100000000_100007000_100-7-0
  2. one other pic same fish
  3. I went to a pond that i am normally able to get a few out of but a storm was rolling in and i packed up as the sky looked like lighting was near. As i drove home the sky looked less threatening and i thought what the heck! I have never caught anything at this pond which was choked with lilly pads. Had a few blow ups on frogs but never hooked them. I put a baby bass super fluke on and swam it on the surface around the lilly's and out of no where i got a blow up and it was just a dink 1 pounder and a few casts later the rain started and i made my last cast and FISH ON! huge blow up it was y guess a nice 3 pounder. i will be trying the super fluke on the surface more often.
  4. Just curious if anyone is from the Ocean City are or the surrounding areas and knows of good spots to fish? I am shore bound but looking for a new pond as the one i fish in Ocean Pines is getting to be a little boring and I need some new ideas.
  5. :o WOW what a Hawg! Great job keep it going!
  6. Its a great feeling finding a new honey hole. Great story and great pics thanks for sharing and keep up the good work
  7. I have never been much good at fishing with soft plastics because i was never able to catch anything. I always used spinners, cranks, lip-less, and jerk baits. I decided a week or two weeks ago to throw one since i had a little extra time on the water than normal. I bought some 3/0 hooks with a weight on it. I rigged a baby bass super fluke weightless and cast out hoping for new results. As soon as the fluke hit the bottom my line starts ripping. All the sudden a really upset small large mouth bass flew outta the water jumping at least 1.5 feet. I got her in and like i said she was small maybe 1.5lbs. than i caught two more and they got off. First time i had fought more than one fish in a day since i can normally only find an hour to two hours to fish and i cant seem to get multiples on my trips. I went out again last night and cast to a tree overhanging the water and on the fall i see my line moving and reel in a WAM fish on. I got a great fight and she was about 2.5 lbs i would guess. All things considered i will be using and purchasing more soft plastics as i now know not only do they catch fish (which i knew but never could do it myself) but now i knew i could do it. A very good feeling when you find a new bait that will work in the rotation of finding the fish. here is a picture of the one from last night.
  8. What is the best buzzbait you have found. I Have one cheap one that is bright chartruese i dont know other than a steady retrieve how to fish it but i havent gotten any hits on it. everyone at my pond says buzz baits are good. any advice on brand and retrieve style?
  9. What do you mean by hard baits you cant fish from the bank? the only one i have tried i have not had success with so far is a jerk bait but i think that is just cause i am not sure how to fish it properly. Which hard baits are useless from the shore. Since i am shore bound for the time being i want to know what baits to avoid when the monkey gets on my back.
  10. I dont have to go to far back. I have been loving fishing my whole life but i always went on someones boat in a bay or ocean for flounder and big game. Last year i decided i wanted to fish some of the ponds not knowing if i would know what i was doing if it would be any fun. I went at least 7 times before i caught anything and finally started catching some crappie but i knew their was bass and it became a mission to get one. I joined this site and got some good info on what to do and maybe my 10th or 12th time out i finally hooked a dink but it was still a bass and i was stoked! I couldnt get enough of it. A month or so before the season got to cold to fish i landed a personal best being about 4.75 to 5 lbs and that really set the fever to a new level. I love it!
  11. Thanks again everyone i went out on Saturday for about 2 hours and got skunked and will try again today... good luck to you all!
  12. Since i have just started i have two rods and both are spinning so i am ONLY spinning gear here. You are not alone
  13. thanks guys i appreciate it... i will keep working it to see and will keep you posted
  14. I have just gotten my first chatterbait and have read its just like a spinnerbait on a couple of sites but was curious what everyone thought was a good way to fish this bait.
  15. Ok so i am sorry i just got the scale and it was the first time i have ever had a scale i will go and find the proper way to scale a fish. I was just overly excited. That being said i am glad the others of you got on his case. I am not one to hurt a fish and excitment sometimes gets in the way get over it the fish was out of the water for 20 seconds! anyway i hope this is the sign of things to come with a successful season! I am getting a new scale though it is def more than a pound but that is what you get with a cheap scale. Anyway thanks again to everyone!
  16. Sorry meant to put this in the Fishing Outting heading please feel free to move
  17. I went out today for the first time for about 45 - 1 hour just to get out. I got a rod and reel for Christmas and just got 50 bucks worth of lures. I went out and tied on the new lip less crank threw it out as far as i could from the bank about 10 or so cranks i feel dead weight and originally think i am snagged and then i think well at least the tree limb is coming in and i wont loose the lure. All the sudden i see it boil and then start fighting! Fish on one hell of a start to the season. It was about 1-1.5 pounds on my cheesy scale which isn't very accurate. Seemed a little bit heavier but I'll go with the 1.5 or pound. Will have to invest in a more expensive accurate scale now. Anyway just thought i would share! loving that fishing is warming up again around here!
  18. I agree with the rest of you guys he is just not human but if you listen to the announcer carefully at the 7:27-7:32 mark he says "a wispy rod and slow retreiver reel have no place in kevins boat today" So he is not trying to fish slow at all.
  19. wish i got VS i only get outdoor tv. Seems like they have 6 days and 20 hours of hunting program a week. I would say my favorites of the limited selection i have is Pro Team Journal, Fish TV, and Bass Pro
  20. Good idea eyedabassman. thanks keep em coming...
  21. Thanks Bill great advice and i cant wait to try them all! Tnbass i think i will def try the frog on the pads i have never tried that and will give it a shot! Thanks again and i look forward to others ideas.
  22. Thanks Marty and Nick.... Everyone keep the opinions coming i really appreciate it. As for the veggitation and such most of the ponds have some Milfoil, and clear to stained water. Their is one pond that i have not had any success on that is chocked in the summer with Lillypads. Otherwise its sand, fallen trees here and their and some cattails here and their. Thanks again
  23. i have the exact same one that pgersumky shows their. I found it in my step mothers shed. It was her fathers and he got it brand new. Holds a great amount of stuff but it small enough that a kid can carry it with no problems. I highly recommend it!
  24. I got for christmas about 100 dollars worth of giftcards to bass pro shops. I just caught the Bass fishing fever this past year. I only have a couple of crank baits, a bunch of plastic worms (senko's and trick sticks) and a few flukes. I am looking for some good ideas to expand my very narrow selection of baits. To give you an idea i am just able to fish from the shoreline and fish local ponds nothing to big. I would guess the biggest pond is maybe 10 - 15 acres. Not very good at guessing but that gives an idea as to what i am fishing. Any help would be great before i go on basspro.com and get some new baits. Thanks in advance.
  25. I give mine to my nephews. Crazy too.... I could have a crap lure that cant even catch weeds and these guys can catch all day with them. I gave them a crazy crawler that i broke 1 leg off last year and the next day one of them nailed his PB 4lb lmb. Its great for them because instead of playing video games or watching tv they are fishing. That is awesome! such a good cause and your right getting them out of the house is the best thing possible.
