  1. Congrats..... You're moving upwards which is ALWAYS a good thing!
  2. Went north this last weekend to visit the kids and spent a little time fishing Brevoort Lake up across the bridge. Daughter-in-Law works in the local office of MI-DNR, and has been told by fisheries folks that Mullett Lake's population of gobies is growing quite fast and that they have also been found in the Indian River headed towards Burt Lake. You may want to consider looking into baits that mimic these invasives as well. Might not be this summer, but it wouldn't surprise me that these lakes may some day resemble Lake St. Clair to a certain extent. I haven't fished down there since these fish moved in, so maybe a few LSC fishermen can chime in on where to look for them. It could give you more choices on Mulltet this summer. I'm thinking shallow flats where the little buggers like to burrow into might be worth a look. BTW, you didn't hear this from me, but fishing for Walter has been fiarly good on the river from Lake Huron upstream towards the dam. Meat rigs trolled along the weedlines have been producing some nice fish.
  3. Okay boy and girls, I'm confused! I know that a lot of us are going through an extended heat wave lately. When I just visited the weather channel's website, I was greeted with the following warning: ... EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND RAPIDS HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY. HAZARDOUS WEATHER... * HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO PRODUCE HEAT INDEX VALUES AROUND 105 DEGREES TODAY AND THURSDAY. So I found it a little interesting that TCM (Turner Classic Movies) is now showing.... A Miracle on 34th Street! A quick Google search gives a number of choices that say this is a Christmas story, but somewhere back in my mind (as fried as it is), I seem to recall this being a love story. Either way, I just don't think a story about Santa Claus plays all that well right now!
  4. Congrats Dwight! I could have sworn that you were already past that threshhold, but I guess that was just awesome fish pics!
  5. 3" - 5" Kalins Lunker Grub, rigged on a 1/8oz - 1/4oz darterhead jig. You can also T-Rig the 5" grub using a Gammy 2/0 EWG hook. Any color works as long as it is some shade of green. Avacado to Watermelon, with my choice being Avacado. Best selection is now on the Uncle Josh website as they bought out the company.
  6. It probably is now! On a brighter note, maybe he can get a job where John Wayne Bobbitt went to work. At Snap-On Tools!!
  7. They look like what I need on my '05 GMC. The ones I have extend, but are no where near that size. Not bad with the boat on the back, but I'm blind as a bat when I'm dragging the 30' trailer down the road. We need more pics when you've got it all decked out!
  8. They replaced a semi-solid goaltender with a future greeter at Wally World! I'm surprised they haven't set down a welcome mat in the crease. Didn't help the experiment of splitting up Datsyuk and Zetterberg to make two half***ed lines either. Bottom line is this team lacks too many things, goaltending, puck handling, offense, and an ability to stay healthy for a whole season. I wasn't too impressed with free agency either. Kinda sounds like I'm a little down on them, huh? I still have yet to make it up to Bessemer this year. Trip was supposed to happen in May, and here it is July already. It's almost to the point that I should wait for September/October and the walleye run on Bay De Noc.
  9. Hey Yooper....... Dat snow melt up der yet, eh? You got two really good pieces of advice above me, so you should be all set. Only thing I would add to what Sam said is to use a "Duo-Lock" snap. At least that's how this Troll sees it.
  10. Robert, that sure is one shiny new truck! I can't get over the new mirror style, do those extend out as well?
  11. Catt makes a great point. The old adage that 90% of the fish are caught by 10% of the fishermen is valid. Anglers who aren't one of the lucky ones in the first category, then need to decide if they want to put in the effort to become part of that 10%. Some do, but most can't, won't, or don't!
  12. I'd love to support the site Glenn, but I don't have a facebook account. Come on, you've seen it.... Can you imagine my face, on a book?
  13. No, look on a map of Saginaw Bay and they are located 3-4 miles WNW of Caseville. I've always gone there from Au Gres which is a little farther away almost directly west of the islands. The main island is roughly located at 44-1-53 // 83-26-8. Here is an interest link to a map of the bay: http://www.fishweb.com/maps/saganawbay/index.html Here is a portion of last week's MI-DNR fishing report: Saginaw Bay: Walleye were 10 miles off Gambil's in 27 feet of water, northeast side of the Black Hole and off the Spark Plug near Buoys 1 and 2. Near Essexville, walleye were caught in 6 to 8 feet of water off Knight Road. Off Sebewaing, anglers were heading out to the Slot and the Coryeon Reef while trolling or drifting spoons and crawler harnesses. Freshwater drum, catfish and white bass were caught. Waters north of the Slot were also starting to improve however Caseville was still slow. Those fishing the Charity Islands have caught bigger walleye. Limits of smallmouth bass were caught in Wigwam Bay and around the Charity Islands. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-10364-34956--,00.html
  14. On one of the days I was fishing with Alpster at this year's road trip, I caught a rock! It didn't really pull on my line though, but was more like a dead weight. I even landed it, though he wouldn't net it for me!
  15. One word Otey..... Caseville. A few more words...... Charity Islands. My spies are telling me the smallies and bigger walleye are hitting out there. You could also get into both by hitting the bays like the one just south of Caseville. There's a large point that would shelter you from a north wind. Bayview? Bayport? Baysomething is a small town on the south side of this area. A little longer drive would put you along the west shore of the bay. What size boat are you running around with? Tell me that you've got good electronics and a GPS so I'll sleep better. CARRY YOUR CELLPHONE! Depending on where you're fishing, there are days when other boats stack in on the good spots. That adds to the safety factor when you're amongst them, but if fog sets in or you have to run alone, you want a boat that can handle big water/waves. Last thing, get your hands on a good map or GPS chip that you can use to stay off the rocks!
  16. Where's this place? I want to head there with a bottle of Bud!
  17. Great job Cousin...... Happy to see that you got Uncle Yensen out on the water too. I'd PM you back with how my summer has been going, but there isn't much sense in trying to depress you too! Let's just say that I've been on the water more up here than I was at the road trip. One day more, but at least it is more! A little prayer for your Aunt Yo Yensen wouldn't hurt.
  18. Nice fish Big Guy... Have a great time at ICAST. Give those big old girls some rest.
  19. Great choice Catt on the Drop Shot. There was an interesting article in Bassmasters recently on just that subject.
  20. 62 of anything in 12 minutes is too much and too fast.... It should probably include lap dances, but why don't you study that for us, and see if I was right or wrong. Pictures with your report would be a bonus!
  21. That reminds me of the story about the young gal who came home to brag to her Mother about a tattoo she had just got. "It's a beautiful rose that's right over my heart" she told her Mom. Her mother replied; "Isn'tthat nice.... When you get to my age, you'll have a long stemmed rose!"
  22. I just want to go back to the 8th Grade...... And have somebody slap me silly everytime I tried to catch the smoking habit!
  23. Wow Tom, I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. But I love that picture of him strapped into his seatbelt. He looks like a real gentleman.
  24. Nice looking smalljaws. From the color of that tube, I suspect you've found were the goby population was located.
