  1. Tell me you won't be wearing a rental tuxedo, as those things never fit all that well! All kidding aside, you may want to consider the fact that the picture you are complaining about could very well be serving the purpose of supporting the lake, marina, or a possible sponsor.
  2. Guy has a real touch with that thing, but what kind of commie puts anything but mustard and onions on a hot dog?
  3. No matter the size, having to mow around all those obstacles is just as bad when you are sitting down. Look for a "zero turn" or "four wheel steer" mower which will cut down your time. My JD is a LX280 with four wheel steer and it takes about 1 1/2 hours to run over the couple of acres of yard. Should I mention the by-pass to that stupid "can't mow in reverse" safety feature?
  4. I'm going to have to either make a trip back to that lake to see if I have to throw away all my maps and GPS in the closest dumpster. I have never seen water depths as depicted on that map. Regardless..... Questions. When are you going up there? If I had the time, I could always send you some numbers, or trying to shoot you a hi-lited less detailed map. Where are you staying/launching from (upper or lower)? I've always thought of Hamlin as two separate lakes divided by narrows and defined by wind speed and direction. Plenty of good fishing locations on both halves, but if you are in a smaller boat it can be a long rough ride from one half to the other. Several things I do know for sure. First is the fact that no matter how many fish I've caught targeting deep weed lines, ALL of my biggest fish have come from under a dock. Secondly, this is one of those lakes where weed control efforts have had a negative impact on the fishing, and there's no reason at this point for me to expound on the good old days. Finally, when all else fails its time to hit the sand dunes. Plenty of structure with very little cover. And we're talking the girls now!
  5. Plenty of news stories involving either MI-DNR or County Marine Patrols responding, and tickets issued. A combination of too many complaints and too many accidents involving high speed boats has the law enforcement community taking a proactive part. It's far easier to make the call and leave it to the professionals to deal with the idiots.
  6. Don't you feel sorry for the guy? First the "consensus" decides that he is lying about a certified weight, then the huggers howl about the fish kicking the bucket, and now his picture stinks! Any bets that if he wasn't standing there with that board that another whole segment of whiners would be stating as fact that he didn't catch it there!
  7. By the way, Michigan already has put laws into effect to stop such idiots from buzzing anglers. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-153-10366_37141-120726--,00.html And yes, it does work.
  8. Haven't you learned the secret to using marker buoys? Throw out a couple of big old gaudy looking buoys 100 yards from where you want to fish, and use a small pill bottle to mark the hot spot.
  9. Does that mean that you are okay with people dumping any fish they want into lakes or rivers? The question in the original post is whether those fish were invasive. The truth is that they are, no matter who much that truth hurts.
  10. Yup, those are all invasive species in that river system. It doesn't matter if they are the "popular" fish, unless it would also be okay with you when your neighbors who like Koi to illegally plant them in your favorite lake.
  11. Break out the cheese! Somebody catches a bass that is a supposed lake record and the whine begins to flow. My guess is that some vulture actually ate the real lake record, or will shortly! http://www.news10.net/story/news/local/2015/06/29/dead-fish-wash-up-at-lake-camanche/29493353/
  12. The following link is MI-DNR's information site for all boating access sites. Click on that green colored "Go to Map Page" button, and zoom in. http://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/mrbis/ I'm not sure what size lake you feel comfortable on, but there are plenty of lakes north of Interlochen. Also some fishable lakes south on M-22 all the way to my favorite lake in Onekama.
  13. Could I suggest that you review the linked page prior to your next trip? https://azgfdportal.az.gov/fishing/records/ Seeing as how AZ doesn't recognize a spotted bass as a species in their record books, your only option is going to be a dead spotted bass and not much else. If you want to go the C&R route, take a picture with the mouth closed, and get your largemouth over 23".
  14. The 300 Series Ranger I used to own had a thru-hull transducer, but I'm not sure if that would work with an SI transducer. You may have to mount it on the top tier and give up on any high speed readings. I have seen others with transducers mounted up there.
  15. The cat's out of the bag! Hard to believe all that time spent redacting street names that the OP missed the name on the bottom of the picture.
  16. Of the two choices I've only been to Fork, I'm sure Clear Lake has fantastic fishing, but is there a roadside BBQ stand nearby? Do all the kids you meet call you Sir? If I'm going to spend an entire week someplace, I want my offshore time to equal my on the water time quality wise.
  17. Did these random bites come from the same shallow water? I've run across the kind same cruising fish, clear water with little cover in the past. My favorite tactics are like others have said. Back off far enough so you reach that water with a long cast. Spinning rig, light line, and a small bait. Deadsticking a small worm on a split shot rig often works so long as you aren't dropping the bait right on top of their heads. Almost sounds like your random bites were the pattern, you just didn't realize it.
  18. If the female has dropped her eggs, she'll be back in one year. It's the male that guards the nest.
  19. A few Berkley Power Worms tossed into the A/C ducts?
  20. Have you ever visited Kansaw City, Kansaw? It's not my fault that hillbillies can't spell!
  21. Cats might be dumb, but some are braver than dogs! http://newstome.blog.ajc.com/2015/06/22/cat-wins-hero-dog-of-the-year-award/
  22. Just remember that the lowlifes all pronounce the name of that city with a silent "S". Rise above the crowds and say it the way it's spelled!
  23. "I must have killed more people than Cecil B. DeMille." Gene Wilder as The Waco Kid - Blazing Saddles
  24. If the choice of date came down to Mike making a choice between when you could go, or if I could attend, my choice would to make the effort for you to attend. I already have a trip booked in February to head north for Devils Lake perch, and making a trip to Kentucky Lake a week or so earlier was already in my plans. Who knows, I might sneak down for Jack's Classic!
  25. I don't think it is so much that the human species hasn't always been somewhat violent, as it is the despair to realize that we probably will never rise above it!
