  1. This kind of problem will never be solved until the company's that allow their computer systems to be hacked are held responsible for the losses suffered by their customers.
  2. IMHO, the only thing that makes a lake tough is the fisherman and not the fish. Let's face it, some lakes just don't have a decent population of bass, and no amount of effort on our part is going to change that. When you end up going to one of these lakes, adjusting your goals is the key. What is that "Lipstick on a Pig" saying?
  3. We call these people "Seagulls". The only mistake you made was moving away from your spot. At the very least, you should have given a parting shot such as offering to give him your magic bait, casting for him, or any other comment to show this guy that he is at least three rungs lower on the food chain than you!
  4. Dragging this thread back (kicking and screaming) to the original point. What do I think? If you stay within your budget, regardless of its size, then enjoy. Too many times though, I've seen people go way overboard trying to make sure that every relative gets buried in gifts that they didn't even know they wanted until it was showered on them. Reason seems to fly out the window, and you can witness it's victims if you'll drive by your local payday loan store this week. It is their busiest season of the entire year. The second mad rush is when all those gifts get returned. Most likely turned into cash to pay for their own extravagance. The last mad rush comes at the end of January through the first week of February. These are the same folks who flock to the quickest ( and not necessarily the best ) tax preparer's office in dire need of a rapid refund. Having not paid their utility bills for two months to insure the perfect Christmas, they NEED that money NOW. But like I said, if you stay within your budget and actually enjoy the craziness of the crowds, Enjoy!
  5. Seahawks fans! -vs- Eagles fans! Whoever hits "Caps Lock" first wins! BTW, what team lost to Dallas?
  6. Here's hoping that you boss will make as full of a recovery as possible.
  7. Fortunately, I choose to go with what I was good at. Rather than what I wanted to be good at.
  8. Nice bluegill, huh? Any extra room in the cabin, because I'm looking for a tough lake!
  9. So what team is going to pick up Ray Rice in the next week?
  10. Do you think there's a reason why they call those really comfortable shoes that back office types can wear - Loafers? IBR - In Before Raider!
  11. I used culling rings and a balance beam.
  12. Having fished tournament for years, there is always a bump board sitting out on the deck of my boat. Very quick and easy to measure and release as I still count the number of "keeper" sized fish I catch on each trip. And in all those years, I've never seen the day when my Golden Rule had dead batteries!
  13. I've been checked numerous times, but only time I didn't have a license with me. The first time I was 16 years old and didn't need a license until my next birthday. Had to show my driver's license to prove my age. CO said he was glad that he didn't own a bar because he wouldn't have bothered to card me to get a drink. Drinking age back then was 18. I always have my license in my wallet, and I never go anywhere without it.
  14. If you have never had it above 60mph, then why did you mention in your original post that this was a 70mph boat? Your motor is designed to red-line between 5,700 - 6,000 rpm's and you running well below that IS your speed problem. If you plan to get to 70mph, you have a whole lot of work ahead of you. I would suggest paying a local marina or prop shop to help you work out all of these issues.
  15. Wow you guys a rough! All Raider has to do is to replace that standard post with one that has a 1/4" spike on the end of it, put a couple of barbs on it, and then make a video of himself using it to pluck the last olive out of the bottom of the jar.
  16. You "toned down" your bait and caught one. You find it hard not to burn a spinnerbait or pitch a big jig because you are a self-professed power fisherman at heart. I'd say its a toss up that either these fish have to learn what seasonal patterns you want them to act on, or you are going to have to adapt. The best choices are always the hardest ones!
  17. You're missing too much information. The Prop - You need to consider both the Diameter and Pitch. Jack Plate - Has that setting changed? Trim Gauge - Set at the same point? Are you sure it's working correctly? Weight - Any extra weight thrown onboard recently or since you could get up to 70mph? Hull Damage - Is there a problem of drag? If, and only after you've setup everything exactly the way it used to be, and you've checked out all of other possible issues, then you can consider the worst case scenario. That your power head isn't putting out the same horsepower it did when it wasn't 25+ years old.
  18. If I'm going to be stuck with just one album, I'd like it to be more than just about the music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_vziyGFlcE Karen Carpenter should have had the world in her hands. One of the most beautiful voices in song, but she couldn't get past the other voice in her mind that kept telling her there was something wrong with her. It's so sad that she is not alone with the inability to accept herself for what God intended!
  19. Okay - Victim of Bait Monkey!
  20. At least you can celebrate the fact that you've done something original. It might be different if thousands of others had already gotten a post or two, or three in their tongues.
  21. You've got mine!
  22. Ice has some very practical uses. It can used to reduce swelling or ease the ache of sore muscles. It can give the shore bound angler the chance to reach many parts of a lake that they can only look at during the summer. And most importantly, it does a really good job when thrown into a cooler on top of a 12-Pack of barley pop during those long hot summers!

  24. The only thing better than getting to play in three feet of snow, is listening to the hillbillies having to deal with one inch of it. The only survival tip I can offer is that Vodka doesn't freeze solid!
