  1. Seeing as how he is from the same conference that gave us the infamous Mr. Suh, what can you expect!
  2. Am I the only one that was ever a pump jockey when they were in school? We did a lot more than just check the oil once we got under the hood. Belts, hoses, fluid leaks, and we ALWAYS checked the sticker to see when the last oil change had been done. When we washed windows, we also checked out how the wipers looked. And never forget to check the air pressure in those tires if they looked a little low. Winter, summer, rain, snow or shine, the best $1.25 per/hour I was ever paid!
  3. Unless you're going to find yourself wanting to blast off from very shallow water, I don't think I'd get one of these things. An aluminum boat with a 75hp motor isn't built for flat out speed, so trying to squeeze another 1-2mph out of the top end doesn't seem to be the best way to add a $1k to your retirement toy. If I was in your boat <pun intended!>, I think I'd use that money to upgrade electronics or pickup one of those anchoring systems for the transom.
  4. Wonder how that works when you still have hair on your arms. Imagine how much better it would be if they could mount this on a rod handle so all of those that are addicted to being on their phones 24/7 might actually catch a fish or two.
  5. "Rodgers said referee Walt Anderson told him he thought Suh was blocked into the quarterback." http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=400554411 Maybe it's time that Rodgers gets the same protection that Cindy Crosby gets on the ice!
  6. That's the only answer!
  7. This problem will only be solved when the scam artists start bugging the Hollyweird types. Look at all of the sudden outrage on hacking when Sony got the same treatment regular folks have been putting up with for years.
  8. Have you ever noticed how all of today's kids only think about themselves? Ever notice how kids always gang up against others that are different? Well, you should really meet Max! http://www.wzzm13.com/story/news/features/2014/12/24/cans-for-keyan-hogan-heerema-cans/20771675/
  9. With all due respect to others who state that they can safely stand in almost everything that floats, that shouldn't be your concern. What can your son safely stand in? I'm going to say that Catt had the best advice if, and only if, either of you decide to stand on the existing floor. No standing on the seats, or adding in platforms to make it "like" a bass boat. Because you said that budget concerns weren't an issue, you may want to upgrade to something like BPS's 16' Panfish Boat.
  10. Now if you're not sold on what Mecosta County has to offer and would be willing to make another area your destination, this would be my number one choice: Lakes Cadillac & Mitchell are only 45 minutes to the north, but well worth the trip. Even though I've lived in Mecosta County since 1961, it has been our camping/fishing destination every year during the last week in May. Family issues have kept me from making this annual trip the last two years, but the results from spring tournaments show they're still a real hotspot. The link below shows the results from a group I used to fish tournaments and cashed money with. They only show the five fish limits, but I can tell you from past experience that if you find them, you can plan to dink drop 3lb+ fish trying to upgrade an 18lb limit. http://www.bbtbass.com/Cadillac.htm
  11. The lakes I listed are all decent and would be a good option if you were staying @ Canadian Lakes. I mentioned them because I know the fishing in any lake can drop off right after the airboat gets done spraying for weeds. Having said that, I should mention that both Tri-Lakes and Townline Lake get the same treatment. Tri-Lakes is going to give you numbers of largemouth, with the chance at the somewhat rare smallmouth. If you can find them, some of these brown fish can be bigger than average. Chippewa Lake is a numbers game and the size is going to be better than Tri-Lakes. Largemouth predominate but there are some smallmouth here as well. The Martiny Chain is a flooded chain of lakes that is strictly largemouth. A bunch of small lakes connected by channels running through vast fields of lily pads. The place just screams bass, but be warned, it can be the most fickle of the area's lakes. I've been in tournaments where it took five fish to win and the weights went anywhere from 8lbs to 18lbs. Townline Lake is a real decent lake for largemouth, was a tournament stop for our old Tuesday night trail. One last area lake I forgot to mention earlier is the backwaters for Hardy Dam. Hardy Pond is long, narrow, has current upstream and tons on submerged wood along its entire shoreline. A tournament held last spring there had a winning weight of almost 20lbs! Great fishing for both largemouth and smallmouth, it just takes a fairly speedy boat to get from one end to the other, is a little dangerous to navigate if you don't know where you are going, and can get crazy busy during the summer. As you get closer to your trip, shoot me a PM and maybe we can discuss what's going on up here this spring.
  12. I'd like to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas as well. And let's all take time to think of those who have to spend part or all of their holiday away from home. We have soldiers and sailors spread across this entire world and nothing can match the loneliness of being so far from loved ones. We also have many in this country that will be spending much of this glorious day doing their duty as well. From the public safety folks, those staffing our medical facilities, to those working the more mundane job at the local gas station or convenience store. Finally let's take time to recognize those that have lost loved ones during the year. Three LEO's have died in the line of duty in just the last few days. They add to the many who have passed away while serving all of us during the last year. We must, I repeat MUST, take at least one brief moment to grieve with these families, so that they may know that their loved ones did not die in vain.
  13. I've fished there as it is just down the road. Wouldn't be my choice for a destination lake, but you should have a fair shot at good numbers and a possible fish in the 5-7lb class. Depending on how late in May that you are coming up, there may still be some fish sitting on shiny spots but most will have dropped off to the weed lines. Topwaters, Jigs, Worms will all work, with crankbaits and spinnerbaits also giving you a shot a more than a few northern pike. No maps exist that I know of. The lakes were formed by dredging out connecting swamplands in the late 1960's into the 70's. Expect to find quite a few docks, some lily pads, and if you get there before the first chemical treatments, plenty of pond weeds. If they have sprayed, I would suggest traveling north to either Tri-Lakes, the Martiny Chain, or Chippewa Lake. Townline Lake to the east of Lakeview is another choice that's close by.
  14. Congratulations to both you and your daughter. Now for some advice! https://studentaid.ed.gov/repay-loans/deferment-forbearance
  15. Please tell us that you've been rendered incapable of having children.
  16. Oh Boy - Energy Independence! ! ! No more depending on foreign countries for our black gold! ! ! :respect-059: So when did Canada become part of the USA?
  17. Sounds like you just described fishing in So. California to me.
  18. The big lakes are full of surprises. Never saw one of these geysers, but I did drive up to see these things. http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2014/01/lake_michigan_ice_boulders_cov.html
  19. Tuesday afternoon in Greenville Michigan, a local station dropped their price to $1.99. Still around $2.30 here. The one question not yet posed is what everyone is doing with their new found savings?
  20. News this morning says that UM has offered him a six year deal for $48 million! I still don't see him giving up on the pros without a Super Bowl ring.
  21. Fixed it for you. You're welcome!
  22. Don't they make any sleeveless "wife beater" styles?
  23. It's a rather old story, but if the costs shown are accurate then we should a dramatic slowing of drilling and production here in the states. http://www.businessinsider.com/crude-oil-cost-of-production-2014-5 Can't imagine the oil companies paying $65 p/barrel to "frack" shale deposits and lose $9 per.
  24. Agreed! I'm sure that one than one employee is concerned about the boss' health and also their future employment prospects. Both are valid concerns, but one obviously should take the top priority at this point.
  25. Detroit News gave an entirely different take on it.
