  1. I'd recommend switching out the stock hooks for the Mustad KVD's in a size you feel comfortable with. You won't be disappointed, as they will serve your purpose well, and they are a very good treble!
  2. I have used them in the past, and have not noticed anything advantageous about them. When you mix in the fact that with the way many rattles are attached to the jig threading on trailers becomes more difficult, they seem even less attractive. Just my view.
  3. Give me a Pointer and a Jig any day of the week.
  4. The Bill Lewis Rat L Traps do not come with KVD Elite hooks, they come standard with Set-Lock hooks.
  5. Smithwick Perfect 10 Sufix Elite Mono 10lb. Clear Two Heddon Super Spook Jr's Booyah! Real Gill spinnerbait Bomber Deep Fat Free Shad New pair of Jimmy Houston fishing shades
  6. 2nd Generation Revo STX or Premier... You can still find very nice examples of both within your price range. A couple of other options would be the Lexa, or a Zillion if you can find one. They've been marked down to around $200 a few places. Out of the above, I'd go for the Premier.
  7. 3 Sebile Flatt Shad 66 SK 1 LiveTarget Bluegill Crank 2 Packages Zoom! Baby Brush Hogs 2 Packages Zoom! Finesse Worms
  8. For the method you mentioned specifically, I can think of no better bait than the Lucky Craft LC Wake Action crank. I personally prefer the 3.5WK model.
  9. Plano Elite Series Spinnerbait/Buzzbait would be my choice.
  10. I personally use Plano 3700 series boxes, and have no issues. If you want to save space, check out the 3771's. Great boxes, and really space savers, both in the efficient use of space, and the low profile.
  11. Especially when there's Smallies around, speed it up and keep it moving! One region I've had success with a jerkbait involves current and riprap under and around bridges, including the first set of pilings in both sides.
  12. My favorite so far is the Jackall Cross Tail Shad, but they have the same durability issues as your Roboworms.
  13. Sounding like a broken record, but Plano 3700 Series for me as well. I am considering switching them to a Plano 3771 though... I can see a lot of my current 3700's getting replaced with the 3771's. I live the versatility and low profile.
  14. Beautiful work! The Okeechobee and Bama Bug are especially nice
  15. Don't use sandpaper! It will remove the coating from the blades and remove the sheen of the blade. I've heard everything from ketchup to toothpaste. I personally would try a very light polishing compound. As for the hooks, just replace the trebles. I suggest KVD Elite Series In regards to the jigs, grab a hook hone and get at it!
  16. I've seen it done, and turn out really well on both casting and spinning reels. I'd Google Calfish Custom Reel Painting if you want to see some prime looking baitcasters. As for spinning, I'd direct you to a very cool thread about someone doing just that, but unfortunately that sight is currently down. In the end it comes down to your abilities, or willingness to send it off to be painted, and whether or not the reel is either monetarily or sentimentally worth it to you
  17. Ripping rattle baits through the tops of the grass, or throwing a wakebait over the top of just submerged beds comes to mind....
  18. From my personal experience, I'd put a lot of rods above Quantum rods. I have not used the specific rod you're referring to, so use your own judgement. but my money would be going elsewhere.
  19. I prefer the hooks dressed, but that's just personal preference. I tie flies, and so I tie feathered trebles for a lot of my hardbaits during the off-season. It's not terribly hard, a few tries and you'll have something better than just about any inline spinner comes with stock
  20. I just hooked up today on my first topwater fish of the year here in N.E. Ohio
  21. LOL And that's not including a new drag star, carbon fiber handle, or... Well, you get the picture! It can get bad sometimes Bearings or drag would be my first choice. Probably the bearings, as the drag has performed adequately for me thus far. I believe why DVT said that there is not much to do to supertune a Daiwa is the fact that Daiwa does not use the centrifugal brakes, or the spool shaft through the frame design that Shimano and other brands use, both of which are key points in a polished supertune. There are still many options, the ones I listed above are just a start. I have seen both Fuegos and Sols that cost more to the owner than a Steez would have
  22. It's certainly unique..... http://images.cabelas.com/is/image/cabelas/s7_134416_005_01?rgn=0,0,1952,1072&scl=5.136842105263158&fmt=jpeg&id=1cMFga14sUKked1m13DdmA
  23. Looks a lot like the All Terrain Tackle Rattling A.T. Jig....I'm sure for a price a custom mold can be made. I personally would get either this: Trokar Pro Swim Jig- Fiberguard - SPJ-3-ATK Or this: Weedless Arky Style Jig Flipping Hook - ARK-3-AY And have my friendly local machine shop modify it. If you take in the mold and the head style you want, I'm sure they could make it happen
  24. Ike said it best
  25. Hey man, you've got two threads going on this already, and on one of them people are trying to help you. From what I can see, they're waiting on more input from you as to what type of spinners. Folks here are more than happy to help you out, but try sticking to one thread
