  1. Thanks for the welcomes guys!!!!!!
  2. NICE!!! I'm gonna start this stuff ASAP!! I'm hooked!! Those are sweet jobs. Keep it up!!!
  3. And I thought I was thinkin' weird..... Those are just totally AWSOME!!! Seriously sweet!!!!
  4. Very Nice!!! Wish I had talent like that. Cool 'bout it catchin' a fish unpainted!!!! LOL. Funny........
  5. I wentout a few days ago and did the best I've done in my life. Plain and simple. It all started on a rather bad day, a little chilly, quite a bit of wind, and no bites. One of the guys I was fishin' with had a nice one on for all of three seconds before it got off. I started by burnin' a Mann's The Classic spinnerbait with no sucess, then switched to a spinnerbait I bought at a local tackle-shop. No bites. So far I've been fishin' weed beds and rip-rap in clear water. We start goin' along this shallow section of the bank, shallow enough that the custom painted Storm Thunderstick Junior I was throwin' was collectin' mud. No bites. We hit a couple of trees, but again no bites. Finally we anchor down in a nice laydown for I don't know, an HOUR and I got one little tap that was prollay a rock bass. I'm throwin' a t-rigged craw with an un-pegged bullet sinker. We go across the lake, and I pull out a 5" soft stickbait, aka Dinger. T-rig it weightless and pitch it into this tree. Two casts and TAP TAP!!! A whole 10 1/4 inches of largemouth. I think WOW a FISH!!! As this is my first fish in half a day. I hop out onto the tree(Its a massive laydown) and start pitchin between every nick and cranny. Before we left I got an 111/4" largemouth, and the others guys caught a small muskie and the biggest rockbass I've ever seen. This tree is on a whole line of laydowns, so we start fishin' the rest. Two trees down frowm the big tree I nail an 12 and some odd inch Largemouth. We work our way down the shore and a ways down I pick up an 8" off a shallow rock. We anchor over the next tree and while the others try for crappie I try the ABC princible. It works, I pick my second legal out of the bottom of a stump, another twelve incher. We finally move to another tree. Last time I had been here i had had several dinks follow my bait from a spot with little scattered weed patches. I start tossin' my dinger over there and dedad stickin' it. No bites. So I work it like a fluke. BAM!!! Big strike. I jam the rod back hard, and feel a whole lot of nothing. Nuts!!!! I feel sick. I try the dinger a couple more times, then switch to a Storm Kickin' Minnow. No bites. I'm still consitrating on these weeds as I know theres a big 'un in there. No bites so I switch. For some reason I tie on a Heddon Torpedo. I toss it out there and try 2 or 3 different retrieves. No good. So I tried a almost walk the dog retreive. BOOM!!! Huge boil. I've fished topwater a lot and have had many big blow ups. None like this. I slam the steel home this time, and boy oh boy, my 7ft. ML bows up!!!! The fish makes numerous jumps, but in glary water, so I don't see this fish to well. Get him up to the boat and he's still fightin' like crazy. Thats when I see him. It's a SMALLMOUTH!!! I've only caught four out of this lake in three years. None like this, or so I think. Finally get this hawg in the boat and go to unhook him. 19" on by one point of the front treble. Yikes!!! Well I whoop it up, then go back to fishin'. We go along the shore line and after a bit come to a nice little pile of about 3 six foot sticks. I toss a dinger right into it, let it freefall, then pull in the slack when its on the bottom. I feel resistance so I slam home the steel. Into a limb. NUTS!!!! I give it a big pull and all of a sudden a big pull comes back. When I land This hog, its a five pound largemouth. That wraps up the day, but what a day!!!!!!!!! Sorry, no pics :'( :'( Hey, at least I got two witnesses :
  6. What species of bass? If its largemouth, let us know. Smallies, let us know!!!
  7. I usually fish a pond about 5 minutes away once a week. It gets hit hard, and isn't big. I can throw a weightless 5" senko halfway across. My stratagie is to hit the main feeding areas, like flats, weeds, or the windblown shore, HARD. Spinnerbaits burned very fast. Buzzbaits, anything that moves decently fast and looks good to the fish. After I've covered these areas, I go back and cover them again, maybe with a different lure, but I don't slow down. If somethin' shuts down the fish, I go wormin', but other than that I hit it hard. I also usually fish a lake that has alot of laydowns in the 3-6-16ft. area. I usually start out the mornin' with a movin' bait, then S_L_O_W D_O_W_N. Weightless soft stickbaits, t-rigs, or somethin' like that, and fish the area thoroughly. What I'm tryin' to say is fish according to where you are and what you feel comefortable with. Fish your strengths, then when you've done good, experiment. Hope this helps!!!!!
  8. I love any kind of bass fishin', but topwater is "tops". LOL. Seriously, I love topwater and am versital at it. I can usually get some bites, even in bluebird skies. I actually just tied my pb on smallmouth with a Heddon torpedo, and my pb Largemouth, as well as my second best, have come on topwater. Give me a buzzbait, Thunder Dawg, or Sub Wart and I'll catch 'em!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Like what has been said, use what you'd usually use in fishing. I recommend using a split ring and an improved clinch knot or something along those lines. It's stronger. tight Lines, Bass Junkie.
  10. I don't think its yor rod or line at all. The rig I use 99.9% of the time is a 7ft. 1pc. ML rod and 30lb power pro. My best advise would be to go to wally world, get say 2 of the three pack clam shells with the hook included, one in the catalpa floater and one in the baby bass or watermelon pearl red flake. While your there pick up some el-chepo trailer hooks. When you get to the lake, open one of the three packs, pull out the color of choice, and tie on the bait. If your fishin' weedlines or sparser cover, pull the point out of the froggy but DON'T unscrew the bait. Slide on one of the trailer points so when rigged again the point is up. Re rig. Cast and use a steady, slow retreive, and when the bass hits, pause 1 second and slam back. Almost fool proof. I speak from experiance, as I've used Stanley ribbit frogs alot and consider them top notch. Hope this helps!!!!!
  11. Dude, the only place I've seen Mad Man is in the 99 cent bin at Wally World. I'd check out those bins, but the products are come and go, and they get hit hard.Try to find the re-stockin' times so you can hit it right. You will often see baits in the same bin bearing the name of Riverside. I beleive these are YUM! seconds, as I've pulled both dingers and buzz frogs out of those little yellow 5 packs. hope this helps.
  12. I beleive the bait that was shown in the video was a Mann's "The Classic". Hope this helps ya. NOTE: "The Classic" is a good spinnerbait from my experiance. It has relatively thin wire, gold blades, produces a nice wake when bulged, comes with a trailer, is decently priced, and caught me my first spinnerbait bass. Give it a try!!!!!!!!!
  13. Ingenius, yet weird. LOL.
  14. Don't know 'bout around the house, but if ya have some scent, spray a generous amount in the bag of the soft plastics. Works for me.
  15. I never peg the weight, just never have need to. Most of the time I fish my worm rigs over fairly clean bottoms, or in laydowns. I like the thought that the bass dosen't feel the weight of the weight. It's just fine and dandy 'till I slam hme the steel.
  16. I don't get the chance to fish in the rain much, but when I do, I like to throw a real powerfishing bait, like a 3/8 oz. or so colorado blade spinnerbait, or a wakebait. When its weedy, I've thrown lightly weighted plastic wormies into pockets with some sucess. these are things that have worked for me at times. Hope this helps.
  17. I've used them in a pinch, but I bent the point out and used a regular hook set. i like weedless Eagle Claws for wacky rigs though.
  18. I kinda like Zoom, but I don't really hav a preference. The worst I've smelled is Cabela's Aqua Glow. Bought a couple packs when I just started bassin'. Opened them on the way home.BIG MISTAKE Those things absolutely reeked of garlic. Every time I smell garlic strongly, I think of those baits. LOL. I also kinda like Culprit. Didn't really think of those........
  19. JellyMan; This isn't a house hold oil, but try a deal like Berkley Gulp!!! in the spray bottles. Spray it in each pocket, insert baits, let soak, hammer the bass. Bassin' Bugger: I think that would work, but I use the system I posted above, only vI leave the baits in their bags and let 'em soak in that.
  20. I have always heard that the legs sticking out in front of the head wiggle as the bass inhales the bait, and when the bass feels it he thinks the prey is trying to escape, so he crushes down, giving you more time to set the hook......... Just what I've heard.
  21. My favorite "BIG BASS" lure is a Dinger or Trick Stick................weightless t-rig, of course.
  22. WOW!!!!:oWhat rig ya gonna be tossin' that tree limb on?? LOL. That has to be a blast to fish...... Let us know how it works!!!!!!
  23. Nice Job!!!! Fishin' those laydowns is like nothin' else. Knock down, drag out. An absolute blast!!!! VERY nice bass :) :)
  24. 4" Yum Dinger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best I've used ( Though I've never used Senko's 'cause I kinda fish dangerously, and don't have an unlimited supply of cash. Besides, the others work for me.....)
  25. A big hello from a long time visitor, finally a member from Northeast OHIO!!!!!! I've been fishing for 3 years, and am "hooked". LOL. My pb's are Largemouth: 7.5lb Smallmouth: 4lb. (2-way tie). I'm excited to finally be on this forum. Tight Lines, Bass Junkie
