  1. What are you guys' favorite lip-less baits? I'm startin' to use more cranks this year and am underpowered dramatically in this area. Thanks in advance!!!
  2. Strike King 3X Finesse Worm. These things are amazing! May be a little hard to get used to riggin' at first, but they last a long time.
  3. Weightless 5" Watermelon/Pearl Lamanite Dinger/Trick Stick. This thing has saved the day for me numerous times, and its especially adapt at pullin' in bigger bass.
  4. Has anyone here used the Bass Pro Shops Kermy Frog? How does it compare to the Spro Bronzeye? Will it get decent hook-ups on a 7ft MH baitcaster with braid? Thanks in advance. Sorry for all the questions at once but their are decisions to be made. Spring is on the way :D (I hope :-/)
  5. I've used their trick sticks extensively and never had a problem with 'em. Sharply defined colors and durable.
  6. It's braid. I started using line conditioner on my braid this year and after awhile the green faded. Ahhhhhh.... I see. Ok. As for the Ice Breaker Frog, would not hand warmers placed in specific compartments in the body be an applicable feature ;D
  7. WOW!! Thanks a lot. I've been looking for somethin' like this for quite a bit of time Thanks again
  8. I agree with a lot of what has been said. First of all, downsizing can be effective, and for more than staying of the beaten path. Think about it. Most pond fish are used to two things specifically in their pray. Bluegill/Baby Bass colors and a smaller profile. The smaller profile is hy you need to downsize, long with th other commonly used explanations. As for the color, this can really be a big part, especially in highly pressured ponds. If you're a person who is used to eating anything and everything black, and somebody serves you say, mashed potatoes, would you eat it? Also, staying ahead of the curve is another thing I agree with. If yu find lures that people have lost at your localpond, what are they? 9 times out of 10 it is one of the more typical lures, such as a 7" Power Worm, WalMart or other cheap sinnerbait, more commonly available crankbaits, ect. When you throw a 4" finesse worm, a smaller swimbait, such as the Storm Wildeye Live Crappie and Bluegill, a frog, or a wakebait, your giving the fish something a lot of guys don't throw. Also, a understanding of how to use the more common lures in a different way, as well as knowing how to get the most out of your lures can really help. Tight Lines!!
  9. I'm looking to pick up somme better jigs ad swim jigs, other than that probably some craws and dropshot junk....... I'll second Falcon. WHERE IS SPRING???? > :-[
  10. Flipin4bass, is that mono tied to the frog in your picture?
  11. I've caught smallies on a LC RC 1.5. It's my usual Largmouth size and I've used smaller for largies......
  12. LOL, I'll back you on that one!!!!!
  13. Roostertails, easy. Cast better, runs truer, and has better color selection. Also priced great, widely available, and most importantly it catches fish. Caught my first and only trout on one, as well as one of my 3 way tie smallies on these, and cannot find a color that won't catch fish. Other than that, their nothing really special.......LOL.
  14. I have six different colors of spinnerbaits in my box. My number one producer, the one I have the most confidence in, and he one I've caught my first and most recent spinnerbait bass on? White. Clear water, ponds, lakes, wherever, white will catch fish. In all honestly the only color you need in our box IMHO
  15. Approx. 5lbs, caught on the smallest Heddon Torpedo availible. No lie. Caught one right after the spawn that was around 41/2 lbs, but skinny as a rail. Prespawn or a month later she would've hit 6lbs......
  16. I've used 30lb. Spidr Wire and had the same problem to a point, but with the right drag you don't have to worry. Also, use a seven turn clinch knot instead of the typical five turn. Less chance of the knot slippin'.
  17. I'll second the goby suggestion. Also, I've rigged up an 11/8oz Chatterbait with a Vibra Tail grub in the spirit of tadpole imitation. Never tried it though.....
  18. Well....Mine is a tie. #1. A hot day on the lake, clear skies, warm waters. I'm throwin' a Watermelon/Pearl Laminate Yum! Dinger wacky style. I make a cast just like any other cast and see my line twitch. WHAM! I set the steel hard, and that rod dosen't move. I was pullin' hard and nuthin' doin'. Weel all of a sudden that line just goes slack. Man, I know I've never had a fish like that on. So I mope for a while, but I can't stay upset for long, so I get back into the norm of things and after a while, I got another bite. WHAM!!! Same story. Huge fish, rod won't move, feel every sweep of this things tail, then BAM, line slack. That hurts. I figure both at 8+. #2. Sunny day, already caught a couple bass. Throwin' a white spinnerbait. Got a good bite, knew it was nice.(WOW, KNEW post the spell checker?!?!?!) Fought it in a bit, it made a good run, but I finally get it to the bank. Now this pond is public, heavily fished, and I have never seen anything over 3lbs...up to this point. I'm sayin' right around four pounds. I'm already thinkin' OH YEAH< LOOK AT THIS< JUST CAUGHT A HAWG!!!! Well, its not over 'till its over, and this thing had just enough to get his head out of the water. POP goes the hook, and BYE BYE. I've never coveted a fish since.
  19. Sorry I didn't find these..... :-[ Thanks a lot. Anyone else ........????
  20. Ok, I've been lookin' at Jann's Netcraft and I have especially lookin' at their crank bodies. Mainly the PC200, Slim MD Crankbait, FG Shallow Diver, FS Medium Diver, and the 78 and 100 Springer bodies. The painted ones. All you gotta do is slip on some split rings and trebles. That may sound like a bit of work, but how many of us really use the stock hooks. And for under $3.00 a pop with the colors they got, I'm defiantly lookin' to buy a selection of these things . My question is have you guys used these? How does the body and colors hold up, and do they run right? Also, these things look a WHOLE lot like LC's , and The FS Medium Diver is a lot like the Spro Little Jon........ :
  21. About the size on that fish, I'd say right around 7.5lbs. My PB is a 22.5" Largemouth that hit 7.5lbs and it's build was just like yours. Fat and had a BIG mouth.
  22. I'd have to agree with the Buggers and Clousers, in Black and Chartreuse/White. Also, if you know any bird hunters, ask 'em for a couple of Pheasant pelts. You may have to cure them yourself, but with a bit of imagination you can come up with some decent craw patterns. Church Window feathers for the claws, cut in the claw style of course, a hare's dubbing body, large hackle clipped top and bottom for the legs, maybe some red squirrel hair for the top of the bottom, some gold ribbing down the body, and a bit of another church window feather for the tail. Viola, a nice lookin craw.
  23. 1. 5" Watermelon/Pearl laminate Dinger or Trick Stick. This above every other lure in my box. 2. LC RC 1.5 Copper Perch. This thing cast a mile, has great action, and crawls through laydowns better than the bass themselves. 3. 3/16 oz. Strike King Redeye spinnerbait, White. I hate buying Strike Kings, but you can't argue with this or their 1/8 oz. Firetiger buzzbaits. 4. 1/4 oz. Heddon Torpedo, Leopard Frog. Torpedos are some of the best topwaters available IMHO, and I will always leave a spot for 'em in my box. 5. 1/4 oz. Worden's Roster Tail, White. Rooster Tails will catch any fish you care to mention, from Bass and Muskie to Cats and Carp, and I've yet to find a color that will not catch fish.

  25. Sorry, haven't been on the forum for a couple days,....Finally started goin' into withdrawl though, so I'm back. LOL. Hey, thanks a million for those videos. I really appreciate that. As for the reel, thanks for showin' me that to!! I don't frog every time I go out, so I'm not gonna be usin' thi setup a lot. If it gets me through 2 seasons I'll be fine with that. It does have a 3 year warranty, but I still am bummed a bit.. LOL. Not anybodies falt hough. I don't blame anyone but the manufacturers. Thanks again.
