  1. But how many of us lose baits..... Or are careful? I do have LC's, and they are better than 9 out of 10 other hardbaits, in my opinion.
  2. Thanks for posting these. I had forgotten about them being on You Tube. So many videos,so little time........ (And WAY TO MUCH ICE!!!!!)
  3. Glad to hear Strike King has such good service. Its always great to deal with companies like that. Mattlures is another company that cares and responds quickly. Tru-Tungsten... whole different matter....... I purchased one of their 4" Tru-Life swimbaits, only to have it break after 5 or so smaller fish. They did respond, but it took a while, and when they sent me a replacement it was the wrong sink rate. I emailed them about this and around two months later I finally get a response. They sent me two more baits to replace the one, and they were the correct model, but they sink, when they're supposed to float, all of which leads to the question, "Anyone want a Tru-Tungsten hat?"..... I'm not all that happy with their products at this point........ glad things went better for you. Maybe I'll convert to Strike King swimbait.... LOL.
  4. I've used them, and although I've never caught anything on them, the action is good, colors are decent, and the 3-5 foot divers run straight, even when burning them, right out of the package.
  5. True...... But then you lose the ability to chose your colors..... Also, bucktail is a good tail material for other lures such as shallow cranks and wakebaits. 6/0 Thread, color of choice (Red works well) Bobbin (Cheap is Fine) Scissors (Should already have them) Hackle, to match lure Flashabou or Krystal Flash, to match or contrast hackle choice. Chartreuse is is good in tails because it glows like a 'Gill's tail. Notes: Tie in hackle tips, don't wrap it.
  6. I've only thrown the Baby Torpedo, but it really seems to large for most of the Smallies around here (odd, I know :-?). The only Smallie I've caught on one went 4lbs...... And the lure was big in his mouth, so I'd vote Tiny.
  7. I've done pretty well lately with a Lucky Craft Rick Clunn Wake Action 3.5 in Copper Green Shad. Walking or drifting it in any current.
  8. Nice fish all....... Smallest I've gotten SM wise is 8"
  9. Sometimes color doesn't matter, but there are times when it does. One instance is when you jump the off the bank and let it pause. The fish can really look over the lure, an with the Bronzeye the lure likes to sit legs down, exposing some of the back. Also, when walking the lure tends to go subsurface, where again detail comes into play. Plus, details equal confidence in your lure, which is always something you want.
  10. Welcome to the addiction.........
  11. I dabble at it.......
  12. The Tiny Torpedo tends to sit low in the water, it is not your line. 6lb. is great fun especially around cover. A lot of times the Torpedo will dive that far under the surface, and it does not hurt it's fish catching ability at all.
  13. NateFollmer: Those spinnerbaits aren't that bad.... They work pretty well, and for the money the durability is nothing to complain about. The wire is a little over-tempered, so it is hard to modify them, but otherwise I've never had a problem with them.... Just a interesting fact, but they are actually Strike King promotional baits....... brushhoggin: Whats they matter with the Floating Ribbits? SirSnookalot: Very true, but lures do play a role to a point, especially quality lures. There can be no doubt that a Lucky Craft does better than a Cotton Cordell......
  14. I'm guessing there has been a misunderstanding.... The pin ripped the resign hinges out of the body. The metal hinges on the back of the head were fine, but the "hinges" on the front of the rear segment were busted. I had no problem with the pin coming out the right way. Hope this clears it up. Glad to hear others are having good success with it. I contacted Tru-Tungsten and they are taking care of the problem, so I have no problem with them, although response time was a bit slower than Mattlures :
  15. Largemouth: 7.5lb, Stanley Ribbit Frog, Baby Bass Smallmouth: 4-Way tie of 4lbs Crappie Minnow Heddon Baby Torpedo, Crawdad 1/4oz. Worden's Roostertail, White 3/8oz. A.T. Football Jig, Black and Blue, with a Yum! Chunl trailer, amtching the jig. Funny, there is not a lot of jig fish on here that are PBs........ :-?
  16. Unfortunately many lures and fishing products are named along those lines these days. Immature and rather disgusting.......
  17. Same here. Swimming, plain t-rigging, flipping around cover, ect. Good luck!
  18. If you have any rivers/creeks feeding into these lakes, even if they are from a resivour above the lake you're fishing, fish them. It is amazing what you can do in these rivers when the bite is dead on the lake. Also, get out early, and target the shady side of the lake. Around here the shade extends quite a bit into the water, so it keeps the water cooler for quite a bit. Throw topwaters past every dock, tree, rock pile, whatever you find, and you will find the fish. Once you've found them, mark the place, then keep on fishing. You can come back later in the day and fish the closest deepwater structure, with a more finesse approach. Twitching and walking a jointed wakebait is a good approach for the shade. Hope this helps
  19. A lot of baits are viewed from the side by Bass, even walking baits. Also, if you have ever paused a walking bait, you'll notice the back end sinks in the water, sitting in a nose up position. This allows for Bass to study the bait a bit, especially if its a pause lasting more than a few seconds. As for their other baits, water clarity has a great deal to do with the necessity of realism in color patterns. And realism adds a great boost of confidence, which is a definitive good thing 8-)
  20. Search this in the search feature.............
  21. You could also try some melted worm plastic... Just be careful... That stuff burns : (You'd think one would learn the first time :-/)
  22. -etommy28: Cool. Glad to hear that. Just made me wonder for a second if we were on the same page... Thanks
  23. Lucky Craft Rick Clunn Wake Action 3.5 in Copper Green Shad. The secret I've been using with it is walking it like a spook, only slightly sub-surface. Hard to explain, ya gotta see it. Just walk it like a spook, and the two halves click together, really calling the fish up. I have caught an 18" Smallmouth and Largemouth up to 6.5 pounds over the last two trips throwing this lure. But its not just a big bass bait. I've had 10" Smallmouth cream this thing
  24. Very solid fish, especially for Ohio. We Ohioans are not living in the worst big bass state though.... There is Alaska....... :
