Prices are: Revo S $99.99, Revo SX $129.99, Revo STX $149.99 and Revo Premier $199.99. The MGX and other specialty Revos such as the Toro and Winch are not reduced.
1. Trailer hooks, only in sparser cover, trailer plastics almost always, except with Terminator baits that have the built in trailer.
2. Sufix Elite Mono, 12lb.
3. Personal preference, but I throw a 7' MH rod.
As mentioned before, a smaller fish finds it easier to take a smaller bait, which probably was contributing. Plus, if your pond gets fished a lot the fish might have been turned off by trailers, and the low frequency of a skirt on a head might have done the trick.
If they are hitting it without the trailer, fish it that way and don't argue with 'em. As to why they're doing this? What is your watter clarity, and what size of Bass are you targeting?
Patience is certainly key. Also, keep a low profile and be as stealthy as possible. Lightest line for the situation, and try something very small, but keep a strong hook in the bait. Or go to the other side of things and flip a 5" creature bait on the nest. I'd also try a Mattlures U2 Bluegill....
Spro Bronzeye or sight fishing on a bright day. Not bed fishing, sight fishing. When you have a four pound largemouth blowing up on a frog within 24" of your face as you're kneeling on the bank after the fish tracked the frog the whole way in is awesome...
LC RC 3.5WK. They have an identical lure available on their website that is supposed to be released soon, but I haven't seen it in stores. The RC 3.5's are still available on line.
I actually heard they are closing them out to replace them with the Tech Spec style, which are horrible. I ended up picking up a 7' Medium spinning rod for $30 today, with a reel on it. Don't know about the quality of the reel, but the rod alone is worth more than $30.....
No where does he state that the Ima he is referring to is the Rattling version. And Lucky Craft is actually replacing the entire Rick Clunn line with the LC series, as on their websitehttp://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/Products/crankbait/lc3-5WK.html.
If you can find them, get your hands on a Field and Stream Angler series rod in 7'MH. It is around $50, and I used mine for frogs for a couple of years without a hitch. But the best thing you could do would be to wait and get a little more cash. Then pick up a better rod. There are some great ones at around $150 - $170.
You are comparing Apples and Oranges here..... The Ima is a single piece, silent super shallow crankbait. The RC is a jointed, rattiling wakebait. I do not have experiance with the Ima, but the LV RC WK 3.5 has been an absolute killer for me. They are super durable, and the price is right on the website...$10.77 apiece for a LC is pretty good!
I am not saying you are unsportsmanlike by fishing an Alabama rig, and you have some very legitimate points. But anything that is thrown on 80lb. braid and has people worried about the fatigue of fishing it is not for me. I guess I'll just stick with all the lures in my confidence whelm that have suddenly been rendered ineffective....
But I would, just once, love to see someone rig up one of those things with some 8" Hudds......
That would reduce the possible rubbing of the scales... But really, its nothing to worry about. Bass are a whole lot hardier than people give them credit for...
Sounds good to me. Or you could buy some cheapo cooler with wheels and stick a minnow bucket aerator in it. Bingo, portable livewell, and with a little ice (which you'd need on those hot days anyways) you have an actual cooler. But your idea is much more practical and economical......LOL
