  1. I just got back from a trip but yeah it is COLD here now! When I left a week or so ago I could barely breath it was so hot and now I need long sleeves. For what it is worth....water takes FOREVER to change temp. Try boiling water versus boiling soda, grease, or milk. (My Biology degree in action) A week or two of cooler temps wont change a large body of water. But it sure does make it more comfortable to fish ;D
  2. Why is yellow called Chartreuse?
  3. Surprised Long Mike is a representative of this forum. Sarcasm or not, polluting waters we all love to fish isn't funny. :'(
  4. Give Burke a shot! It isn't impossible to catch fish there. I have only caught catfish there but I am also very new to fishing. I know there are decent bass there, I saw one caught by someone else. Make sure you bring your fishing license, they do check them often near the public boat dock / parking lot.
  5. Have you considered Fountainhead? Since you have your own boat, Burke might be very good after dark. Burke is a electric motor only lake.
  6. I was there yesterday and we got some nibbles but didn't catch anything. There are fish there but they are not easy to catch. We did catch catfish though. We saw a lot jumping around 6:30 pm but they wouldn't bite. Do you have a boat, renting one, or fishing from shore?
  7. Thank you, I was just trying to be nice. The only reason I looked it up is because it was posted that it was not possible. Tell a kid they CAN'T do something and that is the first thing they will do. I am not a kid, but I am college educated in both computers and investigation. I was tempted...so I did. I have no desire in his spot as he is in Cali and I am in VA. The point is, GREAT FISH!!! congrats! I hope you catch it again during your tournament
  8. I don't know. I didn't unedit it.
  9. I was being nice Considering he wanted the spot kept secret, I told him privately over pm.
  10. Not sure if you're taking a shot at me, but the answer is a LOT. Not sure if this isn't an issue in Texas, but here in Cali, it most certainly is. No need to post on a matter that you really don't understand. I've had a body of water RUINED from photos being posted. Actually, make that TWO bodies of water. As for the post above, I would love to see someone unedit the photo posted. If someone is going to be THAT desperate, and spend that much time, then they need all the help they can get. It only took me 3 mins to get a copy of the unedited photo. I will pm you so you can save your spot. VERY nice fish
  11. Good thinking. Grocery stores have all sorts of cheap fish, it's hard to think that someone might really NEED to eat the fish they catch. Plus, then you don't have to go through the hassle of cleaning them. If someone wants to keep anything they catch within legal limits, it is not my problem. I have no intention to keep any fish I catch. I bet something you catch, clean, then cook is better than the store bought stuff. To each his/her own. I just like being out there and out of my house. I will not keep any fish I catch, I just do not want to kill and clean them. I would rather watch them swim away. If another angler harvests their catch. Good for them for whatever reason! I would rather remove the hook, give them a kiss and send them back on their way
  12. Thanks daviscw. My BF and I took up fishing in early July and have had no luck at all. Besides turtles. We are trying to learn how to fish. We have done a lot of trial and error, mostly error. Almost 2 months later we finally caught something. It made my day and his! We have enjoyed every outing together. We never caught anything before but it was nice to be out there. To actually catch something was WONDERFUL! We both got a bit scared by that fish! I do not know how he tied the line, but right after the 2nd pic the fish jumped, broke the line and ended up behind my feet. Together we worked the hook out, and were happy to see it swim away. I have no idea how to clean fish... even if I did, I always said my first catch will go back to the water. After seeing that fish I think they will all go back to swim and live. If I want to eat fish, my grocery store is stocked. This is a wonderful hobby!
  13. Thanks slip and Dan
