  1. I just recently started throwing a frog alot. I want to get a good dedicated frog setup for this reason. Ive been looking at frog rods by various companies and they all seem to be different in terms of weight, length, and even taper. I really want to know what your ideal frog rod is and why? Thanks, -Jack
  2. Get the TP, I have one and really like it. You can find them on sale for around $150, espescially this week when places are having 4th of July sales.
  3. Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that has noticed this. Hopefully we found out why it happens.
  4. Actually I just got it to turn all the way. Not really sure how, and it took much more force than is needed on my Curado and Citica, but it definently turned all the way this time. The best way to describe it would be stiff. This stiffness exists when I try to open it too. Any thoughts on why this would be?
  5. Yes I did do that, I even tried putting it on without the spool in and I still had the problem of it not completely turning.
  6. I have had a Shimano Scorpion 1000 XT for about 2 years. Today I was doing some routine maintenance and took off the side plate. When I went to put it back on, the 1/8th turn release switch didnt seem to turn completely back to closed. I tried to correct this problem, however I could never get the switch to completly turn. The good news is that the side plate seems to be on tight and is flush with the frame even without fully being able the switch back to closed. On the other hand, when I am not trying to re-attach the side plate, I am able to fully turn the release switch all the way back to close. I can do this as long as the side plate is not against the frame of the reel. Other than this issue the reel seems to be working fine, and my only concerns are that this is somthing that could get worse, or effect the perfomrance of the reel. Has anyone else noticed this with their Shimano reels? Is this anything to worry about? And is there a fix? Thanks, -Jack
  7. DVT I was hoping you had an idea. Hope thats all it is. I had been reading it might be imperfections in the graphite. Any guys with a KLX have similar spots on your rods?
  8. So I got my new KLX today. At first I was very imprressed with the rod. After checking out the guides carfully I noticed somthing on the rod I hadn't seen on my other rods before. The blank had what looked like streaks, scrathes, or lines in the rod or its blank. I compared it to other rods and none of them, even cheap old ones, had any of these marks. Here are some pictures, The marks are in the very middle of the blank as it is pictured. I was hoping someone could tell me what these marks are and if they do anything to effect the rods performance. If they dont weaken the rod then its not that big of a deal to me. Just curious to know if someone knew what they were. Who knows, I could be seeing things. Tell me what you think, Jack
  9. Thanks. I too have seen the scorpion for $199 so that is what promted this question. I am going to be using this reel to throw smaller jigs and t-rigs. probably around 3/16oz.
  10. I am looking for a finese reel and have to decide between the scorpion and the chronarch. Which do you guys recomend?
  11. Well that puts the DCH5 at the top of my list. Probably going to pair it with a Chronarch 50e.
  12. What do you expect when you get a rod made by a company called ***... You were destined for bad luck
  13. What seperates the DCH5 from the Avid. Is sensitivity better in one or the other? Do you guys perfer the DCH5 because it is lighter and better balanced?
  14. Thanks for all the input. Still am not 100% sure on what I am going to get. Sounds like I need to check out the Aetos now too.
  15. I am looking to get a new rod for fishing plastics around the 1/4oz-1/2oz range. I am looking for a 6'8" M rod. Two rods that fit my range is the Pinnacle DHC5 micro 6'8"M and the St. Croix AC68MXF. I am leaning towards the Avid right now. Any other opinions are appreciated.
