  1. Thanks guys. Here in Wisconsin I need a 360 degree white light, visible for 2 miles.
  2. Don't you use a 360 degree light? Isn't that required?
  3. What kind of lights do you use for fishing at night in your kayak? Is it store bought or DIY? How do you mount it? Thanks.
  4. Thanks guys. As long as I stick to the big names listed above, I should be OK.
  5. Thanks. I know new is not necessary, but used 1448 jons are hard to come by around me(my real home is in Wisconsin) !! I'm in no hurry, but like I said above, just in case I can't find a decent used 1448. Is there much difference in the quality and features of the new ones(Lowe, Lund, Alumacraft, etc)?
  6. I'm looking to buy a flat bottom jon boat, 14' and a 48" floor. In case I can't find a decent used one, which brands offer a good value in a new one? I'm open to a square front or a modified-V front. Most of the lakes I fish are 300 acres or less, so I'm leaning toward the square front. If I buy a new one, I would also buy a trailer with it, if that matters, as far as the boat manufacturer goes. Thanks for any advice.
  7. What is your budget ? Will you be fishing alone ?
  8. Partly. It still has to be "secured against shifting".
  9. This is how the law reads: "It is unlawful to operate a motorized vessel equipped with a storage battery unless the battery is secured against shifting. The battery must be equipped with nonconductive terminal shields to prevent accidental shorting. Both the positive and negative terminals must be covered. A covered battery box with a strap is best".
  10. Nice setup. I never heard of a sand bass.
  11. Yes, it's a state regulation. I need to check into it further. I don't have a canoe, but I may get one in the future.
  12. Thanks guys. Here in Wisconsin a battery has to be secured properly.
  13. Thanks. I guess it depends on the canoe. It seems like a lot of the canoes out there have no way to secure a battery.
  14. How do you secure your trolling motor battery in your canoe? Thanks.
  15. I have a utility trailer that I use to haul kayaks. The tires say "Max load 990 lbs. at 90 psi". That sounds ridiculously high for my use. You guys are saying I should run them at 90 psi(checked when cold)? They are 4.80-12 tires.
  16. You must be one agile guy. What's your day job, tight rope walking? I am about 5'9" and weigh around 200lbs, I am not too agile, however I do have the balance of a jungle cat. ;D Seriously though, these boats are stable, I stand and fish comfortably. No problems casting or setting the hook. Have you ever been in one? Cliff Yes. I bought my 8 footer back in May. I'm probably just spoiled by my other boat's 48" wide flat bottom.

  18. I think you should look for some other type of boat. I have the 8' Bass Raider(with a thin plywood floor) and I do not fish standing up. I stand up occasionallly for a minute to stretch my back, but that's it.
  19. I recently put some Sea Foam in my gas tank to help clean the fuel system. How often is it safe to use it? If there's still some in my tank at the end of season, do I still use Stabil with the gas? Thanks.
  20. Did the seat tip over backwards while you were leaning backwards? If so, don't lean backwards.
  21. If the problem is not line behind the prop, what do I do? Is it fixable?
  22. I have a Minn Kota Turbo, 40 lb. thrust trolling motor, and I think it's about 12 years old. Is it possible it can get weaker and slow down over time? I have a brand new, charged battery, that I use with another smaller boat also, so it's doesn't seem to be the battery. Thanks.
  23. If you were talking largemouth, that would be for me. It seems like all I ever catch are bass less than 12".
