  1. Hey guys I need a little help on lake Gaston. I have had such bad luck, on that lake that I have now called it the Gaston curse. My track record goes like this. First tournament zero, second two fish all under 14", third me and my partner caught only 4 fish during a fisher of men tournament. The fourth had a 5# knocked off at the boat by a net and just recently my boaters trolling motor goes out during a 10-15mph wind. So need some help, any ideas of lure choices, color etc. Areas to check. Anything Will help, got a Fom tournament next weekend and I am going down Friday to prefish. Thanks in advance.
  2. hey bigbass101I was looking at the map and saw wildlake wanted to know if I could go there and do I need to have a pass or just my regular license to fish it, also where is the best place to park. Thanks for any info. If anyone else can help would appreciate it.
  3. Buggs is fishing good now by the first of April they should be in full swing for the spawn. Fish right across the launch to start throw spinnerbaits and cranks early go back into the creek and right under the bridge fish the right side jump across to the red clay point. Under the bridge start using plastics. Green pumpkin watermelon red flake good colors. Bring your shakey head its a killer. Fish the right side all the way to about mid way back. After that find coves off the main lake, if you can find your way to grassy creek another money place. Hope this helps.
  4. What's up guys been a few days since I was on. Been a busy month, had two tourneys one on anna and the second on buggs. Buggs is on fire right now me and my boater took 1st and 3rd, for the regions first tournament. Him 1st me 3rd my big tournament is this sat on Anna. Prefished yesterday and love is in the air or water. Bad feeling that these fish are in that act of spawning. Never had to site fish for a tourney, hope Anna is not where I cut my teeth. As a co not looking forward, but we are a team. If anyone got some ideas on clear, deep water bed fishing send me some. To everyone on the tread enjoying the stories, keep em coming.
  5. Had the tourney today on anna if was tough. Windy and cold most of the day, I stuck two for 3 and some change. It was a small club tourney so that was enough for a 4th place. We pay as a team and we took 1st. All came on shakey head and plastic. Water mid lake around 52. It was fun to get on the big waters again.
  6. Hey guys, got my anna tourney comeing up sat and I am like a kid before christmas. Going out to my local pond tomorrow, going to cut out of work early. Been tryin to get out and try the double fluke donkey rig. This the only multiple rig i am willing to try, will not throw an a rig. To all that have been out good job on any catches rather one or a bunch.
  7. I fish a pond right now and I have been having very good success with a red eye rattle trap. Using the kvd method of pulling and dropping the trap and slow rolling a swim bait. If you got any wood or rock slow crawl a jig. Hope this helps
  8. Sending out a birthday shout out to ya.
  9. I have not tried b/blue colors at all never seem to find the right conditions. My thoughts for right conditions is stained dark water but most of the waters I fish are fairly clear, buggs, gaston, anna. with the james and potomac thrown in. should i try them on these waters or stick with the never fail g/pumpkin and watermelon/ wm red flake and junebug . Give me your thoughts. I have a few other colors that I mix in also.
  10. Do you peg the weight or let it free fall.
  11. A little subject change anyone fish tubes? I have the tube x baits that I like but a regular tube never tried them much don't know how to fish them your thoughts.
  12. I got a few jigs in that description can't wait to sling on some Anna points. Of the greens which is better on Anna watermelon or gpumpkin.
  13. The Fom is on the 24th we are prefishing it as a club on the 10th. I just can't see myself throwing an A-rig. This is a jig year for me I am putting major focus on the jig this year. I hear so many people win on jigs and when a jig bite got me in the money during a tourney I was sold.
  14. What's up guys been enjoying the great weather my self and see you guys have too. Wished the camera on my phone worked. I had my own classic on that friday at the pond I fish at. Caught about 10 pounds on three fish. With some small guys thrown in . Two on the trap one on plastic, missed a good one on the swim bait. Went out today after hitting the bps spring classic, got a new reel went out to check it out caught a 4 and a 1.5. Got about 12 days before the season starts, cleaning and re-spoiling the rods and reels, starting to put a game plan together. Can't wait talk to you guys later.
  15. Hey quanjig which res were you referring to.
  16. Going to Anna in march. Club tournament/pre fish for the fisher of men later in march. I was going to throw it on a baitcast med rod with fluro but I feel like a spin rod would be better. Like the info I got thanks everyone. I just might tie one on each st up and give it a try. My main focus will be a jig.
  17. Want to try a jerkbait out for an up coming tourney. i would like to know more about the best way to fish them. The best rod, spin or bc, best line rather mono, floro or copoly. Going to be throwing a lucky craft pointer as the bait, just need some insight on the matter.
  18. Tpayneful thanks for the info I am in Richmond va the Kerr bugs James Anna tournaments are the waters I fish but I love the Potomac. If I could fish one water every tournament it would be the potomac. My challenging is finding a boater I can link with so I would have a spot. Hopefully throughout the year I can network with some anglers to make a run in it next year. Keep me posted on how you do. you can find me here or on facebook "ej thomas"
  19. Got back on the pond today and missed a 5er. She hit twice. Swung to early the first time didn't get a hook in her. Pitched back at her she hit and I moved her to the top and pop. Lure comes flying pass me. She flopped one good time so I could see her. Had two bites all her. Tight lines
  20. I am a little late to the party but a have 5 PQ'S and i love them. Great price, good durability, I pitch, flip throw cranks, jigs, everything. I love the duel breaks I have good control with all my fishing styles. I wish I had more older reels to trade in so I can grab another during the spring classic.
  21. Tuff day on the water not a single bite. The big girls must of had a girls day out. Hope the wife let's me sneak out tomorrow for redemption.
  22. Nice. Where you fishing at. I hope to put one on the page friday.
  23. Hey my name is Ej Thomas and I am currently involved in club tournament fishing and fisher of men in va I want to advance my fishing into bigger tournaments and was interested in fishing the bws next year in va. I am a co angler right now and wanted to know if anyone out there had info and ideas on how to get into the series. I am trying to do more networking to find boaters that would like to link for the series and just talk about it in general. This year is a full season with club tournaments and Fom but I want to start learning more about the bigger series like bws. I also want to get into learning about sponsorships because I want to advance my fishing into a career. I think being in sales and marketing product would be a fun and exciting challenge that I know I have the passion for. I have fished as a co for two years now and have done well. I have been in the top of my clubs two years straight and placed 12th in our region federation classic as a co against boaters. Would love to learn more from anyone that has fished the series as a boater or co. Thanks to anyone that reply.
