  1. Hey guys. I was looking around the forums for past post for fishing apps, the most current post is back in Aug, so i figured i would bring up the topic again. What apps do people use? I'm looking for a app for mapping/couture lines, fishing tips, etc. I'm looking forward to everyone's replies. Thanks
  2. ok cool. I just have an abu garica rod. I took it out today and even tho it was windy, I could still sling a weightless yum dinger a good distances.
  3. @Sam. Thanks for your post. So are you saying i can't use my ML for any of those presentations? (dropshot or shakey head)
  4. I'm going fishing tomorrow and plan on trying out this rod and skipping. I will be throwing a weightless senko and 1/8 t-rig just to get a feel of it. As for the "heaviness" I've never noticed it before. This is my 2nd rod from Abu Garica and i liked the first one.
  5. That's called heavy duty shakey heading lol
  6. Here in NC. I brought a second gen spinning rod for $64. Over $10 cheaper than BPS. Also, all there clearance is $5. I mean good stuff for $5 too.
  7. Thank you all for your responses. Here are my rods. 1st. (Just brought today) Abu Garice Vendetta 6'9" ML XF action. The reason why i went out and got this is for 2 reasons. A) It was over $10 cheaper at Walmart than BPS. I'm looking for a 2nd spinning rod for weightless senkos/light T-Rigs/Dropshot 2nd. I've had for 2 years. Its a 6'6" Med power Abu Garcia Cardinal 100i Spinning Reel Combo; 6'0" that i've used for everything. So what you guys are saying is this would be my Shakey head rod? Thanks.
  8. Hey guys. Just a quick question. Can I use that same style rod for both drop shot and shakey head? 6'6" Med light fast action is the rod I'm talking about. Thanks Joe
  9. Nah, I'm good. My mail person will not get out of their right side of the car steering wheel car haha.
  10. Hey Sam. I'm not worried about a lure. I have an old 1/4oz jig this is beat to hell with no hook. I guess you can say its my practicing lure. As for practicing. The whole reason why I am doing this is I want to get the motion down so when I finally go out on a boat, it will not be my first time trying and start with no confidents and talk myself out of doing it. As for lure performance, I am well aware of there being a differences in cement and water, if I have the motion down; I can fine tune things when I get out on the water, Today I practiced in the garage just standing on the ground skipping under my garage door. After about 10 cast, I think I may have a fundamental concept down. I was aiming on a low trajectory for a spot in front of the door. I was using 65lbs braid. Now my question is, is there a difference between braid and fluorocarbon line? Thanks Joe
  11. This is a good idea as well. Hell, you could even take a a piece of the pallet off, turn it on its side and practice skipping into it. I like all the ideas coming from this post.
  12. I think this is what i'm going to do. Stand on this and crack the garage door open and practice.
  13. d**n Camovan, that is a great idea. I had not thought of that. I still want to stand on something though. I figure it will give me more room for me to work the rod and not hit the tip of the ground or whatnot.
  14. @The Rooster. Thanks for the tip. I will place this in my driveway and skip into my garage. I just want to get the motion down. I was talking to my wife, suggested pallets. idk though. I'm 200 lbs, might be too big for a 5 gallon bucket. Plus, I don't have a basement to flood lmao!
  15. Hey guys, So a buddy filled me in on this idea of making a deck to stand on to practice skipping since i'm terrible at it. I was wondering if anyone has any blueprints? I was thinking 4x4 legs maybe 1 foot high with some plywood or something as a deck maybe 3 feet by 3 feet. I don't want anything too big. I was also thinking of making a "boat dock". Something to simulate that i can skip under. Has anyone does something like this before? Any input or comments/suggestion would be great. Thanks guys. Joe
  16. WOW guys, thank you all very much for your input. I will take all comments and study them carefully. I will start looking at my local walmart tonight or tomorrow. All of their fishing items are on sale. You guys are the reason why this website is so great. Joe
  17. One more question. Does it matter if I use a EWG or weighted hook with swimbaits?
  18. Thank you everyone for your responses. You all have given me plenty to look at and investigate. Now when would I throw these...certain period of the year or all year long? Joe
  19. Hey guys, it has been a long while since i have posted so here it goes. This year i decided i wanted to give plastic swim baits a go. So i went on Basspro.com and start reading reviews because they break the reviews down by categories. The swimming Senko had good reviews but at almost $8 a bag, idk if i'm willing to dish that out for a first time swim bait fisherman. Than i ran across Live Magic shad. Again, great reviews and almost $7 a bag. Zoom has a swim bait for $4 and good reviews. I know reaction innovations has a swim bait too but i'm not sure how it is. So I would like to hear any and all options that people would like to throw my way. Which swim bait they like. Color, size, and swim bait hooks and time of year you like to throw them. I was thinking pre and post spawn and fall when the fish are actively chasing would be good times to throw them. Thanks guys. Joe
  20. Thank you NWBasslover and DaveP. I did catch a small carp on a crankbait that i swapped out the split ring for the snap. Other than that, i didn't notice any time of differents.
  21. I'm trying this out today with just some regular snaps that i would use on a C-rig. On 2 different Crankbaits, i took the split rings off and put the snap directly on the lure. I don't think i'm going to mess with my rat-l-traps but if i catch a fish today on one of those modified baits, i'm sold. lol
  22. So this question is to all the people who use snaps. Do you attach the snaps to the split ring or do you connect the snap directly to the lure?. I hardly HARDLY catch bass on crankbaits so i would love to try something new that might improve my chances.
  23. So i just read the "Hot weather crankin" on the main page and something caught my attention that i need some advice on. Is there any type of advantage to using a snap with your cranks? I understand changing out baits in seconds is a big one but does it help or hinder the action on your crankbaits. See this portion in the article threw me for a loop because i was always told to tie the line directly to the bait. What are you guys thoughts on this? Thanks. Joe
  24. Thank you guys for the replies. I'm sorry i didn't state before but this is a baitcaster i'm asking about. I'm glad to see both Lews speed spool and the Citia both get mention. I have them both and love those both. Thank you all for the replies. Joe
