I respect your opinion and passion for animals. I believe taking the life of, or putting a human life in danger is a far more egregious act than taking the life of an animal. As long as we eat animals for food, and hunt/catch animals for sport it would be hard to compare one to the other IMO.
To justify driving under the influence by saying once under the influence the person is no longer responsible for his/her actions does not have merit. Tell that to the person who has lost 1-4 loved ones to a drunk driver.
Had Vick drank to excess, beaten up his wife/gf or both, gotten rough with a stripper, wrecked his Escalade, and been arrested for DUI he would never had done any real jail time. He may have been suspended for a few games. My point is many would send Vick away for life (or worse) for involvement in dog fighting, while some of those same people cry for leniency for many other crimes esp when it comes to athletes/celebrities.
Dog fighting is a brutal, barbaric activity that should not be allowed. So are sexual abuse and domestic violence. That Vick go to jail for animal abuse (as he should have) because of public outcry, while others go free of crimes I find more pervasive and destructive confuses me.
Thank you!! The most the driver got was three years I believe.
