  1. Canadian here... I live in Osgoode (30 minutes south of Ottawa). The East end of the Ottawa River (there is a dam in the city of Ottawa) has very good bass fishing. The numbers of bass is OK but what makes it good is the size of the bass. On any given day you have the chance of multiple 5 lbers (remember we are in Canada here...11+ lbs in our record LB). The problem with the Ottawa River is that it is either hot or very cold. Meaning that it can be long time between bites but when the fish turn on, hold on. The Ottawa River is of course a river but the water is stained. Most bass are caught in the back bays or on the shoreline of the main channel. I personally haven't figure out where bass hold in the main channel but they are there (somewhere). The rideau river is a canel system. There is limited current and the water is getting clearer every year thanks to the zebra mussel. The weed growth in the Rideau is very health. If you want slop fishing, this is a very good place to start. The numbers of bass is very good in the Rideau but getting a 4+ lber can be challenging. If you need more info let me know. Cheers, Mike Vandenberg
