  1. been itching to get on the river myself, been sticking my boat in Anna lately for the sake of convenience but catching 14 inch fish is getting old fast.

thanks for serving our country, please be safe. And a 20ga will be just fine, let's just hope she never has to use it on anything that doesn't have feathers or fur.

In CQC there is no need for any gadgets whatsoever imo. And with the ACOG having very little eye relief at all, I wouldn't want one on my AR if the SHTF and I needed to use it. I just don't see why everyone has to buy all these add ons for their weapons, maybe they see it in the movies and think its cool? That's my best guess. And using a handgun for home defense, I just don't agree at all

This is very true. But the reality is, most people do not have the proper training to understand how to use weapon mounted lights. Most guys without military or police training, run out and buy guns, then dress them up with gadgets that they do NOT know how to use properly. That right there will get you killed in a hurry.
  5. You said it yourself in your original post, you get what you pay for. I stay away from crappy optics, basically anything made in china. Most stuff made in the Philipines is somewhat decent for just a little more then what you pay for chinese garbage. Bushnell trophy XLT stuff is real decent for the money if you wanna go low end and still have quality .

next thing you know he'll wanna 22LR. Our 12 year old graduated to a Marlin last xmas and has been shooting my rifles as well. He still enjoys his airsoft and pellet guns tho, boys will be boys. As long as you teach them safety then I'm all for it. I wasnt even allowed to own a slingshot when I was a kid

sorry if I'm not mall ninja enough to have those cool features on my handguns. You do know a light makes a great target right ? Stop watching so many movies and learn to spell lumen while you're at it
  8. Ya i agree VAO is the forum where most of the Anna guys post, not here typically. And I wasnt asking for tips on lures or locations. I know what they want this time of year and where to find them. I'm just surprised cuz usually I get at least a couple over 2 pounds. I'll be back out there again soon I hope.

I have an AR15 but wouldnt even think of using it on an intruder. That's what my Remington 870 express is for, thats the only thing i bought it for. Both my xd9 and xd40 are near my bed too but those are incase someone were to sneak in my room as an absolute last resort, fat chance tho. My dogs let me know if anyone is withing spitting distance of the house. Trying to use a handgun or rifle in the dark is just plain dumb and should only be used as a last resort if all else fails.
  10. Got a chance to hit the hot side last week and whacked the 12-14 inchers pretty good. Didnt see anything big but still fun none the less. First time I had been out in a while. Having a house there, i usually get out alot but been too busy as of late. I'm looking forward to getting out in the next week again with the lucky craft pointer again and seeing if I can find anything bigger. Who's been out there lately ? Anyone catching anything over 2 pounds ?
  11. get a BPS pro qualifier, on sale if you can, if you wanna good cheap baitcaster that can handle big fish. Any decent 7 to 8 foot heavy rod will get them out of the junk as long as you got 50 pound braid on there. I use a 7 foot mh crucial rod for buzz frogs and a falcon original 7 foot heavy or my powell 766 for most hollow frogs. No need to get anything expensive for froggin. Save your money to spend on jig/worm rods where something more expensive makes a difference. Also try modding your frogs with something like a sharpie marker. I like to either paint the belly or use a sharpie. my fiancee is a good artist and she went thru most of my frogs that had white or lighter colored bellies with a sharpie and drew all kinda vein patterns on them.
  12. how could anyone say thats only 5 pounds ? Get real
  13. 51 bass and the fishin is slow I need to focus more attention on finding fish and understanding why they are where they are at any given time. Thats one of the things that seperates the guys who really fish and those who aimlessly cast and beat the bank.
  14. I dont care how hot it is or what time it is, if the water is moving pretty good on the potomac then I'm fishing, plain and simple. This heat does especially suck tho when youre trying to do yard work, especially with over 11 acres to worry about
  15. the problem I find is they ruin perfectly good baits. Not so much crankbaits but ten dollar frogs especially. They might not be as bad as some had originally thought as far as impacting the river as a fishery but they are pesky to deal with in general. They slime the boat up real bad, the livewells too and you wont get your bait back until you take the snakehead home and chop his head off. And half the time the frog is ruined beyond repair. So if you have one great frog thats working for you and a snakehead gets it down his throat then you may as well find something else that will work for you. Best bet is to have 2 or 3 of everything that works to be on the safe side I heard a few of the FLW guys saying they couldnt stop catching snakeheads this weekend, to the point where they were catching one after another.
