  1. Did well even though the pond has overflowed into the streets. Caught some nice bass and even my first crappie.
  2. As soon as I get another break in the rain I'm gonna head out again. Hopefully I get a big one.
  3. Nice, that's a fat fish! I caught my biggest fish of the year so far right when the last tropical storm came through, it really gets them going. I can't wait to get off work and fish.
  4. I'm also a bank fisherman and I recently bought the Tackle Warehouse backpack and it is awesome. It can hold 3 3700 size boxes, a smaller 3600, has a built in worm binder, and has tons of pockets for other stuff like glasses, pliers, water bottles, phone, etc...
  5. I stayed out until it started raining so hard I could barely see lol. The fish were very very active and were literally right up on the edge, caught some in less than a foot of water. Make sure to look for any flowing water into the pond like drain pipes etc.. Caught a few hanging around those as well.
  6. Congrats man, that's awesome! I went out fishing in the rain and the fish were on. Jigs, cranks, worms, they were smashing everything. The pond is well over the banks though and it might flood.
  7. Doctors Lake? I've never fished it before but it's a pretty popular spot, I always see a lot of nice bass boats in their. There are lots of docks to fish around. Swimming Pen creek which runs into Doctors Lake and Black Creek just south of their are good spots also. Man I need a boat lol
  8. Look up 30°22'33.18"N , 81°47'34.56"W with Google Earth. All of those ponds in that area hold huge fish, most of them are old farm ponds that have been around 20+ years. It gets a good amount of pressure though so fishing can be tough sometimes. I've caught some 8s out of there and have seen some 10+ caught.
  9. I have a couple spots with some monsters in them on my side of town. 9+ lbers.
  10. All of this rain has been killing the fishing for me. I caught one around 7 right after that last tropical storm came through and really nothing since then. It probably doesn't help that I don't really have a way around and I have to fish the same pond all the time lol. Hopefully I can get something soon and try out some of these other ponds ya'll talk about. Has anyone ever fished the pond beside Gander Mountain? It looks really nice with lots of pads but I've never fished it before. I also saw some really nice spots in the Argyle area the other day that I want to try.
  11. Owner and Trokar offsets for 90% of my fishing. I very very rarely will use EWGs anymore because of hookup problems.
  12. I ALWAYS use it when I'm using mono or floro. Helps with memory and casting.
  13. 6.4 is the most versatile. 7.1 is good for fishing plastics and jigs because it lets you take up slack in your line quicker and it's nice to have for those fish that run right at you. If you're going to use it for plastics, spinners, and cranks I'd go with the 6.4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lews-Speed-Spool-Tournament-Baitcaster-Fishing-Reel-Lews-TS1H-6-4-1-/360466626602?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53ed7c382a#ht_861wt_905 Can't beat that deal.
  14. I bought the same reel from the same seller and I love it. It's a lot of reel for only $118.
  15. Zoom or Rage Tail Lizard texas rigged with a 3/16oz weight. I've caught more big fish on those than everything else I have combined.
  16. I recently purchased the Speed Spool Tournament and I love it.
  17. I had one when I first started and I liked it, but you can get a Lews Speed Spool for $79 shipped on ebay and it's a much better reel.
  18. Before I really had money to buy more equipment I had one combo I used for everything and it was a BPS PQ on a 7' Medium/fast rod and 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid. It worked ok for most of what I fished with. Now that I have $ to buy more stuff I have 4 combos that I will use, I usually only carry 3 of them on a trip though since I don't have a boat.
  19. Yeah same here. I fish in some gin clear lakes with no leader and 50lb braid and have had no problems catching fish.
  20. I have a co-worker and a couple of friends that bass fish. It's not as popular here in the Jacksonville area, there are lots more saltwater fisherman.
  21. The palomar knot is probably the easiest to tie and I have never had it fail. Once you get it down it's really fast to tie.
  22. First time I've ever really used Jigs was this year and I've already caught 2 fish that were close to 7lbs on them (one on a swimjig and one on a flippin jig). They are quickly becoming a favorite and high confidence bait for me.
  23. I went with the regular Speed Spool Tournament for $118 shipped. Seemed like the best bang for the buck. I'll put the saved $ towards a Powell Diesel Crankbait rod to put my old Revo S on.
  24. I forgot about that one. The PQ was the first good reel I ever owned and it's been great. You get a lot of reel for $100.
  25. Lews Speed Spool or a Revo S are both great reels that are going for around $99. I wouldn't spend less than that on a first baitcaster. It's a lot harder to learn on the cheap stuff and those will last you a lot longer.
