  1. I have a JM Sig, 4 PQ's, and a Carbonblack. All of them have 2 or less centrifugal brakes on and magnetic set on 3 or less.
  2. awesome stuff. Pretty much the only true flouro that i use. It is made by Seaguar to be nearly the exact same thing as Invis-x.
  3. I have the large Browning Toploader bag and have 6 3700s (Deep Cranks, Shad baits, sq bills, traps, topwater, and a flipsider for jigs), 2 3601's (jerk baits and unweighted hooks), 2 3500's (weighted hooks and drop shot equipment), one double sided 3500 series (I think) for weights, and a few of those small 6 slotted 3400s for tungsten weights and trebles. With all of this crammed into the bag I'm still lacking room for soft plastics. I've debated on attaching the XL worm binder to the straps for the rodtube holder. In the past I've used a small boat bag or another soft bag that hols 5 3600 boxes with large side pockets. I want to be me more organized though... I was thinking about getting those large rings from Menards or Hobby Lobby and using those to separate plastics by type using 6 different color coded rings so that would cut my search time by 1/6.
  4. my girlfriend complains every time we are out together...
  5. I'm pretty sure they even have a saltwater lineup?
  6. I went to talkeetna last year and am making a return trip to alaska in a month.
  7. if you're talking about the kenai river then get your self a 8'6 medium spinning combo and a 7' mh-h baitcast combo. went to alaska last summer for the tail end of the sockeye run and beginning of the coho/pink/chum. going back in about 50 days for the king run can't wait.
  8. weightless t-rig. 7" ribbontail worms, baby brush hogs, rage craws, pretty much anything. If its a little more windy try a 1/8 or 1/4 oz tungsten bullet weight
  9. if your fishing mostly for pike and bass a 2500 (or comparable size) reel will suit you. Now you said occasional saltwater and I personally would have a seperate combo for fishing saltwater. But to save money there are reels that will hold up to the corrosion of saltwater as long as you rinse them with freshwater after each time out. Those Penn reels you mentioned are heavy and overkill for most fresh water fishing.
  10. i have more of an issue getting snagged with jigs. i feel like I am always getting snagged on logs and stuff when fishing jigs compared to a t rig
  11. only have one spinning combo left now. Started using bc's about 3 years ago now.
  12. have both and definitely revo sx no question about it
  13. Get a pair like the halfjackets where you can easily switch the lenses out. I plan to buy a pair with the shallow blue but pick up a couple other sets of lenses for different situations
  14. oh and someone told the story about a kid... I'm 18 so I still kind of consider myself a kid but if a younger kid comes close to me I assume they are trying to learn a thing or two. I used to do it when I was younger so if they come over to me now I will always try and help them and give them some pointers.
  15. I remember bank fishing in alaska last summer and some guy came in and waded about 5 feet away from me. After a while I just realized this is how it goes up there. Now fishing here is completely different. If a stranger comes within casting distance i get pretty ticked off. Ill usually just throw really close to them to make sure they know im mad and that i was here first.
  16. I would be interested in one in IL/WI, with gas prices as high as they are and still on the rise its going to be tough for people to even drive one state away.
  17. Anyone else get ticked when you are missing fishing time because of work? Its worse for me because I work at Bass Pro so everyone comes in and talks about being able to go out and fish when I'm stuck in there all day! It's been over a week since I've been fishing and am missing Easter with my family because of work. I have to have a job though to support the bait monkey (and the gas monkey)!!
  18. Welcome to this addicting sport. Watch out for the bait monkey! He gets us all at some point. In pond fishing I love throwing weightless 7" ribbontail worms on a 3/O gamakatsu ewg hook. If it's windier I'll but on a 1/8 oz bullet. But as everyone else has said ask your friends to take you shopping and suggest some good lures.
  19. Almost every single fish me or my dad have caught on a jig have been hooked in the roof of the mouth... this is probably the toughest spot in their mouth. Make sure you are mmaking a solid hookset and you keep your hooks sharp. I set my hooks into logs fairly often when fishing jigs so they tend to dull relatively quickly. That might be an issue
  20. In that water depth and with grass I would definitely be throwing some square bills. Vary your retrieve and find what the fish want on that particular day on that particular lake.
  21. I like it..
  22. I wouldn't add any additional baitfish until you figure out what is in there already and continue to take out bass. adding stuff like that can just make things that much worse. add some structure and as others have said figure out what else is in there.
  23. not too many of us northern anglers have tried em yet but I also picked up a couple of em. Now I want to try the live target cranks.
  24. if you print it up and bring it in the sale price will be honored. even if you dont bring it in it will probably still be honored but will take longer at the store.
  25. More info about my setups... Last year I brought along 2 spinning reels (smaller trout reel w/ 6# and a medium sized bass reel w/ 20# braid) and 3 baitcasts (Abu C4 w/ 20# mono, Browning with 15# flouro, and a BPS with 30# braid). I brought along 3 spinning rods (5'6 L, 6'6 ML, and 6'6 M) and 2 trigger rods (6'6 MH, 6'6 XH Musky Rod). Well I go out on a small lake with some pike after I got in and my BPS BC crapped out on me. I was glad I decided to bring an extra reel in case something like this happened so I wasn't too mad. And then 10 minutes later I snapped the rod tip on my spinning rod somehow so now I was kicked > At least I still had an extra spinning rod. And the moral of the story is to bring extras when traveling. When I started salmon fishing I was using the C4 on the Musky rod to throw the 1 oz pixies and it worked like a charm. everyone else was using spinning tackle with 9' rods and was amazed I was out casting them by a long shot. I was using my spare bc on the 6'6 mh rod to throw the mepps and vibrax and this also worked out really nicely except I had one really nice silver snap off after fighting it down the bank for nearly 10 mins. When I go back this time I am going to bring the same musky setup, the bigger spinning reel, and 3 of my bass setups (revo sx w/ 30# powerpro, BPS JoMo Sig w/ 20# mono, and BPS PQ with 20# mono.
