  1. I'll be going there from rochester as well on Sat.. Run into any good deals??
  2. How much does a custom rod usually run for? Custom rod building seems really interesting. Theres so many choices for rods, its so overwhelming. I think i might just keep the accurist/extreme combo and use that for spinner and cranks while the new setup will be used for jigging/worming/topwater
  3. Yeah i noticed that the trade-in wouldn't work with shimano reels. Even if you could trade a reel in for a shimano I think the deals on ebay are a little better.
  4. Another quick question.. what kind of deals can one expect from the bass pro classic sale?? I've seen the daily specials and the "reel trade in" on the website. Do they do markdowns on everything else as well?
  5. Thanks for the replies! I was originally planning to get the revo sx/vendetta combo because of the positive reviews and i liked the stylish look of black and red. then i saw that a bunch abu fans have turned into shimano fans, so figured i'd have to try this reel. The extreme rod broke its tip about 2 years ago and i had to replace the tip. Sometimes the replacement tip gets lose and swivels around. If i were to upgrade the extreme to a better/different rod what would you do then? So from what you all have given me: -M action rod for treble hook baits (cranks, topwater, spinners etc..) What length would you recommend? - MH action rod for single hook baits (jigs, tex rigs, senkos, tube jigs etc..) 7' length? -What reel for what rod would you recommend? The accurist is a 6:3:1 ratio i believe. As for brands of rods what do you recommend for each? I know, a lot of questions, but i like to do plenty of research before i spend. Thanks again guys..
  6. Hey guys just looking for some advice. I currently have a quantum accurist on a 7ft MH BPS extreme rod that i've had for around 5 years and it's also the only casting combo i've owned. I'm looking to get another set up and i've decided to get the curado as i've seen nothing but positive reviews. I try to fish in and around the fingerlakes and try use a large array of baits. all sorts of soft plastics, topwater, spinners, cranks, and as of last summer i tried fishing jigs for the first time. Now for the questions: If you were to have 2 setups with one being being the accurist/extreme and the other curado/xxx how would you have it? What would be a good rod for the curado? (price range = $125ish Any advice would be awesome, thanks!
  7. Yeah from what i've heard/read Honeoye is known for its consistency in that the hogs are few and far between while Conesus is hit or miss and if you hit, you hit big..
  8. I use the Horny Toad and like to twitch it through thick cover like yourself, that's where i've had the most luck. I'm sure burning it across the surface will produce as well, I just haven't tried it. You can also twitch the horny toad through the thin layer of junk on the surface (scum?) like a top water bait. The scum is just thick enough to support the weight of the frog but also thin enough to allow good action.
  9. Fished honeoye lake for the first time the other day (5/21). Got out there at about 3pm and fished until sundown. Fished the northeastern shore first then went over to the western shore and worked our way south as it got later in the day. Between my buddy and I we caught about 10 bass a piece, mostly dinks with nothing going over 2 lbs. Caught them all on coffee tubes and a Bomber Model A crank (8-10ft). Seeing as how I rarely fish from a boat my goal for the day was to catch at least one fish and not get skunked. For our next trip we're thinking of either Conesus or Canadaigua
  10. I recently bought Gander Mtn senkos and I'm having no luck in getting that "wiggle". After watching this video I now know why these baits catch so many fish.. Does the difference in manufacturers make that much of an impact on the action?
  11. I was told the northern region of Honeoye is a good place to start?
  12. Unfortunately I don't have a boat so I just fish from shore at durand. How in the heck do you get a boat down into the ponds there??
  13. I've seen people with trolling motors in the durand ponds. Is it trolling motor only in mendon ponds park?
  14. Yeah I've swamped with school work and finals. Will be going a lot more here within the next couple weeks. Have you ever had success with jig fishing at the ponds in durand eastman park?
  15. Ok cool, a couple questions.. -a buddy of mine and I want to hit up one of the western finger lakes within the next month (conesus, honeoye etc..) what one do you guys suggest? -Has anyone seen the Versus spawn map? If not, go to versus.com (tv station) and look under fishing for their spawn map. How accurate is this?
