  1. I received an old (I think) Fenwick rod from my Grandpa. It's an Eagle GT Triggerstik. I know these rods are still in production today, but they are somewhat different from the one I have. Mine has EVA foam grips, the blank is a different color, and it has different guides. I don't have a camera right now, or I would post a picture. Does anyone here have any idea when they changed from EVA to cork, or any idea how old this rod is. Thanks
  2. Is this some kind of secret language, or are you just high? ;D ROLF, is an online/texting abbreviation for "rolling on the floor laughing". It is sometimes used in conjunction to with the word "copter" to mean something extremely funny. PM means private message, and URL is a Uniform Resource Locator. The best translation I can come up is is this: "There, haha this is so funny! Private Message me if you can't see them [my signature], and I'll send you a link to the picture. "
  3. Gerber makes a pretty good knife, but in my opinion, they don't hold an edge very well. I've had two different knives and a multitool toback this up. SOG makes a great blade. The flash I or II might work for you.
  4. On black friday -shudder- Academy is going to have a 6 piece H20 Express swimbait kit on sale for 30$. You can get either shad or sunfish baits. This puts them at 5ish$, so nows the time to try. Here's the link to the add. http://www.blackfday.com/19/academy-sports-black-friday-2009-ad-posted/ (it's on the last page)
  5. Dangit, This is what I get for posting when I'm sleepy. Sorry mods... :-[
  6. If you buy a new reel, and you want to do a routine bearing lube; but you don't know what brand of oil they used from the factory--should you 1. Just use whatever oil you want or 2. Clean the bearing and THEN oil it ???
  7. Wow...There are some good clearances in here http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/specials/hot_deals/fishing&lnkSRC=hotdeals 6 piece H2o Express Rat-l-trap kit 15$ All star classic rods 25$ I may pick up a few new rods at that price.
  8. I know I'll be opening a can of worms here (pun intended), but I'd like to know what all you anglers here think of live bait. I only use earth worms when gilly' fishing on an UL setup, and I believe minnows or worms takes the fun out of bass fishing. What are your opinions?
  9. What is your favorite oil and grease (not drag grease) for reel cleaning. I'm wanting to start mini-lubing my reels. I know shimano oil is probably pretty highly thought of around here. I also know that the TT guys like hot sauce. What's your favorite???
  10. Wow, I didn't expect this thread to get to five pages. I was just a lil' mad when I posted, and now I regret it. I humbly apologize to all the Quantum fans I have offended.
  11. I didn't expect to open such a can of worms. I only needed to rant for a minute, and look what happened!
  12. DING! DING! DING! We have a winner! What do I win?!?! What do I WIIIIIIIIIIN?!?!?! :D :D
  13. I'd call it Graphite Shad. That's what it really looks like; a graphite rod in the sun. 8-)
  14. My grandpa pours all his round crappie jigs onto Mustads. Even if your not in the best position for hooksetting; the hooks always get em on well. They are fairly tough for light wire as well.
  15. I believe what happened to get him in a tizzy is this: last night, he posted a link to a couple of friends of his soft plastic hand-pour site. Well advertising sellers not sponsoring BR is prohibited (I think...). His post got deleted whatever the cause. That would explain it I think.
  16. I guess mine would be one of those generic 1$ Wal Mart spinnerbaits. I caught my first bass out of a farm pond with one of those things. I've now moved on to War Eagles, but those lil' ole' spinners will always have a place in my heart.
  17. I enjoy the awesome directions on how to use it Using Method: - Push it to On side, the handle can't rotate back to draw back the line. - Pull it ot Off side, the handle can rotate back and front to free out the line - You can leading the fishing line through the DRAW-Ring and tighten and push the WIND - Switch to ON side and shake the handle if you want to wind line on roll. - This roll is very fit for permanent point fishing and it also used for throw-fishing. I like to throw fish with this type of reel with braid; however, the draw ring gets grooves.
  18. I saw this last night on TW. http://www.***.com/descpageRLSDAIWA-DCTSR.html It's on sale for 279.99. That's 100$ off normal price. I thought someone might "need" one ;D
  19. If the scale is correct: I see many Steez and G. Loomis deals of the flea market ;D ;D
  20. Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm just getting into jig fishing, and these seem to be a good place to start.
  21. Nonsense. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1246369553/ It's all in knowing which low cost (cheap) baitcaster to purchase. I could teach a newbie to throw a baitcaster a lot easier on a 4600 series Garcia or a BPS Extreme, both can be had at around $50 on sale vs a Revo STX which sells for around $150, best price (old version). There is quality, low cost gear to be had out there. Once you're above $150 for a reel you're picking nits. I didn't mean all sub 150$ reels are junk. I simply meant get a GOOD solid reel to start, no matter what the price range, and you'll be set.
  22. Here's the only Do-It mold that fits your criteria. http://www.do-itmolds.com/prodmolds.aspx?c=56 Unfortunately, it's a minnow head.
  23. While at Wal-Mart tonight; I noticed some Arkey Football jigs. They are 1/2oz., have a Mustad hook, and a Hole-in-One skirt. They have a really nice watermelon-ish color. They were only 3.16 a piece. I might have bought one, but I really can't afford to buy any more tackle right now. Anyone hear used em'? Any opinions? Thanks EDIT Holy cow, I don't know how I posted this here. Sorry please move.
  24. Some of you know I bought a Quantum Accurist the other day. Well I was tossing around a 1/2oz practice plug today, just trying to get more distance and accuracy. Well on the retrieve, the line guide jammed up, and the reel starts to make the most horrible, grinding, clicking noise, and now the line guide won't move. I hope I just got a bad reel, because I really liked it. I sure hope Academy will exchange it...
  25. This seems to fit all your criteria! http://www.***.com/descpageDAMSPINROD-DAEX.html A new brand in the bass fishing world, Damiki has already evoked quite a response with their beautifully crafted fishing rods. The entire series of Angel EX Spinning Rods are 2-piece and feature quality components, including SIC Guides and IPS/ECS Reel Seats. Billed as the entry-level series from Damiki, they were designed to fill the void for a quality 2-piece bass fishing rod at a reasonable price. The spigot joint linking the two pieces together is made to fit precisely, transferring feeling from the tip to the handle, as well as, maintaining optimum curvature when tension is present.
