  1. interesting what is it? (stupid question?) i really dont know? :-[
  2. Thanks for the help finally got my hands on a can of the scrubber and cleaned my spinning reel today =) it was a first for me felt kinda cool cleaning my own reel . Wish i would have taken a picture before and after because i had a small plant of some sort growing in my reel along with tons of slime/gunk salt rust it was mayhem and i got it all clean as a whistle =D with no trouble remembering how to put it back together (if only i can fix my watch now =/) Thank ya for the help much appreciated =D
  3. Had A Tennis Tournament from 7 to 6 played for 9 hours it reached 115 =/ fished from 730 to bout midnight lowest it got was 91 right before sunset 86 after =/ got to love the summer ill take it over cold weather anyday
  4. ...Ok so this is my third trip to the frio and i caught tons of fish the first two times but one 1 small mouth (tiny sucker) couple cats and some perch. Usually it is all caught with hotdog or worms. I want to catch some bigger fish though and i know ive seen them their never had one take the bait though. Any tips ? and what kind of fish are they never caught so i wouldidnt really know
  5. wow never had that happen worse is when the top hook wraps itself around the line but even then it doesnt knot.
  6. I have better success peeling the shrimp too. Then I cut it it into 2 or 3 pieces. If you are out on the ocean bottom fishing you can get about 4 pieces out of a shrimp, the fish don't care. Amen! =D braid line such as "power pro" Helps a lot to feel the bites, is extremely tough, and is less likely to stretch and bust when trying to throw the leader with a weight on it.
  7. i find it easier to use not a whole shrimp but half on a hook make sure the barb is barely peeking out of it and i keep my lines tight so i can hold the line and feel every little tug =)
  8. ....ok so i go wade fishing a lot in the saltwater bays and my reels get soaked a lot of the time well i get home and clean my reels of course but after at least 100+ trips they are finally giving out of me =( i dont like buying new surf fishing reels so does anybody know a concoction that could by example soak my reels in and it will get rid of whatever junk or salts that are stuck in their that i just cant clean by hand?
  9. Sounds like a good day! Id take one good big bad fish over a buncha little ones any day! I aint having fun unless i get to use my cooler
  10. a lot of public bays like (site 55, riveria pier, riveria beach, drumpoint etc.) they are filled with a bunch of small ones the bigger ones never venture over their they stay out of casting range on kennedy and king ranch land so when we hit up king ranch we almost always pull in BIG reds texas record will be pulled from there with more people fishing that land. Takes some HIGH winds and High tide to get som ebig ones that find their way farther in the bay. Lures arent a big thing here but shrimp on a leader is by far the BEST way to fish them here lures are like a second language to everyone here. Drum, Red, and trout are just about all your going to catch for game fish though =/ limited but we know em well
  11. haha what you fishing over there? Bay or Gulf?
  12. South texas baffin bay, we fished from the King ranch land "lomo" or "lobo" my dad called it found a nice sandbar stretching for about 50 yards ending at a 25 ft + drop nearly every cast was a catch. Here is one of my reds caught on a small peice of shrimp missed a bite and i didnt feel like bringing it in yet soi left it for a bit.
  13. 26 black drum, 5 reds (3 oversize) biggest 39 inches, 2 trout and we threw a LOOOT back =) they were hitting everything good night of fishing =)
  14. storms looming in and out little more then a waxing gibous bay fishing for big reds and trouts and drums. Dads using cut bait brother in law has shrimp i got my trusty gulp shrimp glow (were fishing all night) any predictions? fishing off embankment into about 20 feet of water
  15. thnx for the tip on the reds and a hot day explains and helps a lot!
  16. ...so i know fishing depends on a lot but in yalls opinion when is the best time to fish in a saltwater bay for reds trouts etc..... as in Moon phase, time, temp, weather?
  17. so how should i fish the craws that i got? would they be just as effective off a pier?
  18. Wow i could not have got a better answer i fish in Baffin bay every other day so you just made my whole year! I bought a pack of rage tail "Rage craws" today in san antonio since they dont sell them down in kingsville. So i cant wait to take them out and give them a try thank ya thank ya thank ya =D :D :D
  19. ...quick question! Have yall any idea if rage tails would work with wading in the bay trying for some reds and speckled trout? Being serious dont laugh lol....
  20. lmfao swear my life on it check the tournament section got a pic =) and no it was a bass fishing tournament but heaviest tilapia was also a (if ya happen to) category
