    Hello all

Welcome! I'm shorebound currently as well. Lots of tips on shore fishing here if you need em!
  2. This may be a viable option for me. I think I will rent one first and give it a go see how I like it.
  3. Wow can't wait to check those out. Wonder what the release date will be.
  4. J - Your posts make me debate getting a yak so I can get off the shore and since I can't yet afford a boat of my own . Suppose it wouldn't be a half bad workout either!
  5. Buy stock in GMAN ;D
  6. While driving around this new town I bought a house in (Madison WI) I've noticed several small to mid sized ponds... I'm guessing some are around 50-100 yards x 50-100 yards for the smaller ones maybe 200x200 for the mid size ones. I never see signs posted around them but there are litterally a dozen of them all over. I've never seen anyone fishing them, or off limits signs. First question: Would it be adventageous to spend some time working these ponds to find out if there are any bass? How can I find out if they are allowed to be fished? Reason I've been wondering is because one of the mid sized ones looks NICE, real thick weeds, fallen trees all kinds of good stuff.
  7. +2 for F-11 it is a solid producing lure. I also like the blue & silver.
  8. Well started off with losing a spinner bait somehow my fishermans knot slipped on the mono during a cast... had tossed it probably 2 dozen times looked fine them bam gone. The next part was somewhat excited, I've only caught bass so far on spinners, buzzbaits and crankbaits. Havn't landed my first plastic catch. I was tossing a worm, workin it along the bottom and bam, it got smashed... set the hook, bringing her in she jumps, looked nice too, I'm guessing 3-4#, she hits the water and my line goes slack... d**n, that was disappointing. Still don't know what went wrong, had tension on the line, low to the water... just don't know. Worm is trashed and bite marks on the tungsten worm weight. Only thing I can think of is I set the hook to early and had a bad set. Oh well. So I continue on. I walk about 100 yards over to some docks and am skipping a worm under them. Goes well for about 30-45min, no bites and I was set on catching something with that worm after that bite. About 45 min of skipping under the docks I backlash my reel... well today was also a first for the first time trying out braid. Lets just say as I'm sure you all know... braid backlash is nothing like mono or fluoro backlash. Needless to say that ended my day after tossing a crank on my other rods for a little while. :-/ Oh well, may be trying a different lake I've never fished tomorrow see what I can do over there.
  9. lol good advice... bet those worms feel great!
  10. yep that's pitching not flipping.
  11. I'm the same... I always use an EWG
  12. I recently got this reel and would rate it slightly below a Revo S. It is very smooth and I like the function. I dont like it as much as my Revo but it is definitely a good reel for the money.
  13. maybe it is a speed thing, maybe I am flipping to fast.
  14. Ok I'm just curious, I have started wearing a landing glove with full thumb and half fingers on my left hand when I do flipping... Does anyone else do this? I found atleast using 50# braid if I get a slip or flip to fast the braid will cut into my thumb or pointer finger and by the end of the day I'll have a few paper cuts... just rather annoying.
  15. I suppose it could be just one big lie... but it truely does not seem that way in his book. Honestly even if it is just a big act I don't really care, he is entertaining... what he is paid to do.
  16. Mike is my favorite pro tour angler... if you think its an act... read his book.
  17. You can get a vet ID at the VA Hospital.
  18. Those look great, and balance with reels well... my Revo S may have to find a new home on one of those.
  19. Just curious if anyone here commissions rods? If so what are your prices and what process is there?
  20. My favorite and most productive crank colors are: Shad, Hot Mustard and Parrot. (speaking of Rapala DT series) I like firetiger also but for some reason atleast on the lake I fish the majority of the time, I catch 3:1 northern to bass on firetiger lures...
  21. I retie my lures every time I switch (and if I dont switch I retie about every hour with crankbaits) If I use a snap with crankbaits I will forget to retie it and end up losing the lure from bumping around in the rocks.
  22. Anyone have experience with this brand? Just found out today that prior military / military get a 25% discount on all rods. As I'm in the market for a new flipping rod I may take advantage of this if they have positive feedback. http://www.castawayrods.com/
  23. another +1 for Cavitron from me.
  24. Just curious who all listens to what. Personally when I'm at my desk at work I love listening to talk radio / podcasts / espn etc etc. My favorite podcasts are: BassEdge Bassmaster Tournament Podcast anyone know of any other good ones?
