  2. My Gander Mountain stocks them, dick's does not. Otherwise Tackelwarehouse.
  3. Welcome!
  4. The main lakes I fish are about 75' at its deepest, though the weedline is usually at the 15-20 fow mark and I always considered the 20-25 range deep as there are a lot of ledges and drop off and bars that are commonly fished with cranks for northern / musky and walleye in my area. So just always assumed 0-6 shallow 6-16 mid 16+ deep
  5. I like 4/O circle hooks for wacky. I like 3/O Owner wide gap plus for 5" senkos and I like 5/O Owner wide gap plus for frogs/ creature baits.
  6. he should be fine then.
  7. Depends where he hooked it. Will probably eventually shake it free or get caught again and get it removed.... Or a musky or pike will destroy its face chasing that lure.
  8. Did you ever try these out Sam? What was your take on them?

    Morning trip

Thats great, way to go! Sounds like you both had a great time!
  10. Yep I usually just see this oen the finesse style jigs with the round heads.
  11. Yeah I usually high tail it as soon as I hear thunder but there had been nothing, just the "calm before the storm" the thick clouds rolled in in minutes and then this started, hadn't been a drop of rain or one clap of thunder. Guess its a good thing we decided to get out of there.
  12. That is kind of what we were thinking... we just had not heard any thunder so thought we were still ok. But when that stuff started happening we did just that... high tailed it to the launch and got off the water.
  13. Went out for about an hour last night with a friend of mine, we hit the water caught 2 dinks and a storm started rolling in. I was throwing a spinner at the time this strange event started, my line just kind of arced off the water and started coming up. About 1 minute later my friend was throwing his jig (3/8oz) and it wouldn't go under 1 fow, his line started doing the same thing, arcing slightly off the water. So I put on a jig and tossed her out, (A jig I have worked on the bottom before) and it also stayed right around the 1 fow area, I left it there for a minute and my line arced up off the water high... like 2-3 feet... this was very strange and the clouds were getting ugly looking so we decided it must have something to do with the storm, packed up and got off the water asap. Has anyone experienced this or know what was happening?
  14. I agree with Rhino, I like circle hooks for wacky rigging.
  15. My favorite / Go to soft plastics: Net Bait: Paca Craws (Baby) : Black Shadow, PBJ, Junebug and Watermelon Red Senkos: Watermelon red, green pumpkin black, pearl blue flake laminate(or any kind of silver/pearl with blue or smoke) Trick stick 6-8": Same colors as senkos Floater 6-8": same colors as senkos Rage tail: Anaconda: Any color really. Rage Toad: Watermelon red and Greenpumpkin pearl laminate belly. Rage Shad: smoke shad / watermelon chartreuse laminate. These are the plastics I dont leave home without.
  16. Mend it works great, Venom worm glue works good as well.
  17. Thats a very neat observatioin Rhino, I new they adjusted depending on water clarity but had no idea it could be done that fast.
  18. When I saw the title of this topic I somehow knew you would be the first to comment muddy LOL ;D
  19. Great fish!
  20. So I contacted the seller and he stated that the reel was a 6.4:1 but the handle was from a 7.1:1... nothing in the sale ad about a refurb or reconstruct or anything > . This is why I use ebay so rarely. He even had like 1500 stars with a 99.9% rating... what a joke.
  21. The airlines split up seating for my wife and I a few times... all but once everyone was nice enough to swap seats. I have been alone flying on business and swapped seats for people every time I've been asked. It just comes down to some people in life are miserable and "misery loves company" I believe is how the saying goes.
  22. its a good reel, you will like it.
  23. its saturday night you should get it tomorrow morning or monday morning. I've had it take minutes and I've had it take a day.
  24. Is there any place on the reel that shows the gear ratio besides on the retrieve section? I recently purchased a 6.4.1 and and received it today. The gear ratio is "scratched" off for the most part but it looks a hell of a lot like that 2nd # is a 1 making it a 7.1:1. The # on the bottom of the seat is 16 00 18/10 AK
  25. I know this is data for WI but thought it might help give an idea: "Age and growth: Growth varies with the length of the growing season. That is, when the water falls below a certain temperature (some studies indicate 40 degrees), largemouth bass become very sluggish, with reduced metabolism and slowing of growth. As an indication of water temperature influence, in a relatively cold northern Wisconsin lake, it takes 5-6 years to grow a 14 inch largemouth bass, while 400 miles further south on the Mississippi, the same size might be attained in only 2-3 years. Largemouth bass have been observed as old as 16 years." Now the a 14" bass with a girth between 8-12" is going to be 1.5-3#... for a 5-6 year old bass. I would equate New England weather to about the same as mid / north WI weather. So for 6#'s I would guess around 10 years.
