  1. Thanks for all the responses. I'll go and check out what they have. Thanks again Roadwarrior: Are jigs not very strong or something. Do they get stuck or something. Thanks
  2. Thank you. I'll check out those color combos tomorrow. I'm going to dicks sporting goods to try and buy something because they actually has a fishing guy working the fishing section. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try and find some of those. Thanks again Jeff
  3. I'm new to fishing and all I have is an original floating 7 rapala and a box of lures that came with a zebco 404 combo package. I'm looking to buy a decent jig and I don't have very much money. I was wondering if I could use a jig without a trailor. I fish around and in heavy milfoil and I was wondering what would be the best colors, size, etc for me. Also if ya'll have another lure choice that would be around 5 bucks to use I would be very greatful. I have only caught one bluegill in the 10 or so times I've gone out fishing. I want to catch a nice bass for once. Thanks for any help, also I fish from a kayak so it's difficult for me to change the lures on it so I like to just go out with one lure. I don't fish for very long with the longest being around 2 hours but average time on the lake is 30-45 minutes. I now this isn't very much time but maybe ya'll could help me up my odds of catching fish. Thanks again
  4. Thanks ya'll for the responses. Ya'll are awesome. I feel like I'm asking stupid questions. I'm using hard baits because I don't know how to tie them on and my gf's dad doesn't like the soft plastics very much. They use the hardbaits because they are easier. Thanks for all the help guys.
  5. Thanks I'll try looking for othat one. Do ya'll know a good hardbait that works well in milfoil. The lake has a lot of milfoil on the edges where I have seen several bass in but I can't get to them because my lure gets stuck.
  6. Thanks for the help. I searched them and what do spinnerbaits do. Which baits sink a little bit more as I have a topwater right now. Thanks so much J
  7. I'm just starting fishing and I have used a few rapalas. I have an original rapala topwater and I like it but I was wondering what other lures would be good for me. I don't have a rod yet but I may get one tonight or tomorrow. The lake I fish in does not have very large bass so big bait may not be the best thing but I'm not too sure. I fish in an area that is about 10 to 15 feet deep but when I get more comfortable there is one area of the lake that is really deep and goes at least 40 feet where there is an underwater cave. I'm not ready for what fish may be there but I'm wanting to know what good lures woukld work for me. I love the rapala type lures and that's what I would like to stick with. Could ya'll recommend me some good lures for what I want to do. Thanks
  8. Thanks guys for the help and suggestions. My girlfriend and her parents have gotten me addicted to many new outdoor things like archery and shooting shotguns and now fishing. Yeah I will probably go with them to buy my fishing gear but I like forums and I like to ask questions about things. I will probably be reading this forum until I have as large amount of knowledge as I can without fishing much .
  9. My girlfriend and her parents took me out fishing for the first time last weekend and ever since then I've been excited about getting all into fishing and the like. I'm a college student and I don't have much money so I was wondering what's a good rod and reel for me. I don't know the differences between spinners or casters and I don't know the different uses for them. Mabe I'm thinking too much about it. I just want to relax as I have anxiety issues and it helps me calm down so I don't need anything great. Just something to have fun with. Also, if anyone could point me in the right direction to tips on fishing better. Thanks guys Jeff
