    Kmart

Rapala hard baits for $.80 is unbelievable. Hope you bought their whole inventory. K-Marts around here never had much tackle selection.
  2. I haven't had any problems with my rods, but they're not Cherrywoods either. It won't cost you anything to e-mail Berkley. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/contact
  3. Agree. My son visits spaceweather.com every day and often sends me links to Aurora pictures, most of which were shot in Norway.
  4. I would have used language that was more indelicate.
  5. Maybe I misunderstood. It wasn't working as per my post above. Then I discovered it was working on other sites. Then I reread the first post, right-clicked and clicked something else and now it works here.
  6. It's not that simple. This has always gone on during my 40+ years of fishing, during both booms and busts. There are programs available to help people in need; breaking laws is not the answer.
  7. I didn't know the spell checker wasn't working. I clicked the above link and clicked install the dictionary, installed the add-on and was told that it would start working after Firefox was restarted. Didn't happen so I tried again with the same result. According to the Firefox add-on tab the spell check is enabled. Tried it a 3rd time and this time I restarted the computer, not just Firefox. Still doesn't work.
  8. I don't usually hear them referred to as "Bucket fishermen." Just about all fishermen are familiar with them and disapprove of them. Some years ago I coined a term which I usually use for them, which is "grocery shoppers."
  9. I can't read his mind but if he meant overkill for something basically simple, then I could easily understand his comment.
  10. I get the results I want by eyeballing. Also, I use 50–60 yards of braid on top of the backing rather than the 150 yards mentioned in the article.
  11. If you're happy with your hookup ratio, then you can't be doing much wrong as far as hook choices. Nevertheless, a good rule of thumb is to use a hook with a gap at least double the bait's diameter. That allows the hook to get through the plastic and into the fish's jaw rather than the plastic bunching up on the hook.
  12. Can you believe two of them, with different initials. First two Google results: Dr. Abiola L. 13. Ha ha, I saw this story on another site and e-mailed it to a few people and my e-mail's subject line was identical to the title you gave this thread.
  14. My gut feeling is that the effect on casting would be negligible. Even if there are fairly significant differences in the weight of the various lines, the line is so light in comparison to the weight of the rest of the outfit that the casting effect would not be noticeable.
  15. Go ahead and spool up. Assuming your reel is stored in the same room or under similar conditions as the supply spool, what's the difference? It's sitting on either one spool or the other.
  16. It's not necessary to be a Dolphins fan to feel that way about Saban.
  17. I want LSU but I think 'Bama will take it.
  18. They won the ugly uniform bowl too.
  19. A few years ago I weighed various soft plastics on a non-precision, but reasonably accurate, kitchen scale. I weighed multiple worms of each type so as to minimize any error and wrote down the results. It says .24 oz. for the Ultra-Vibe Speed Worm. I just now weighed 10 EWG hooks, size 4/0, but not superline. The 10 of them went 1/4 oz, so one hook would be about .025 oz. If you assume the superline hook is 50% heavier, then it would weigh .0375 oz., or about .28 oz. combined with the worm.
  20. On our New York State length-weight charts an "average" bass here of that length would weigh 7-14. Since the girth is considerably smaller I'd agree with the others who say about 5-6#. I've caught several bass that were more than 2# lighter than the average weight for their length.

  22. Nice way to start the year John.
  23. Be careful, I suspect he might be a little bigger than you.
  24. Not shockingly, Washington fired its defensive coordinator and two other defensive coaches Saturday.
  25. Same here. I think I used Assassins before Flukes so they're an ingrained habit. The Assassins weigh about 15% more than the Flukes, but I was never able to detect any difference in effectiveness. I never tried any other brands because of a preconceived notion that my two brands were enough. My first soft jerkbaits were Mr. Twister Slimy Slugs, very similar to Slug-Gos. They worked very well but I largely stopped using them--for reasons I'm not sure of--when I became acquainted with the Assassin-Fluke style.
