  1. Over 50% of small businesses fail within five years, so you'd better do more research than posting a question on a fishing forum. Here's one blog column that may give you food for thought: http://boss.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/05/top-10-reasons-small-businesses-fail/
  2. Notre Dame dodged a few bullets this season and Alabama doesn't seem to be as strong as in some recent years. It'll be interesting. I won't make a prediction because my predictions on anything are worthless. The other day I heard on a Sports Biz program that this game will set records for both betting and rating.
  3. I use about 50-60 yards.
  4. Just testing. I now get an empty quote box rather than quote tags.

  6. Lee here, but I use regular fit.
  7. I use Windows 7 and Firefox. I started a reply by clicking in the message box, then clicked the quote icon. No quote tags appeared, but the cursor moved down. Two more tries yielded the same result. I then manually typed in the quote tags and finished up. The actual post did have the quote in the quote box but below there were three empty quote boxes. This was a first. (I did delete the referenced post).
  8. How do you drop a legend? Easy. I don't know if there was any bad blood there, but in the absence of same, this is a profit-driven system and they may have decided they were no longer getting an adequate return on investment. Also, various legends have had no problem dropping sponsors who stuck with them during their lean years.
  9. Quote Does this mean Notre Dame has a chance of beathing Bama? You'd better believe it. I'm no ND fan but they've been written off so many times this year and all they did was win. I give them an excellent chance.
  10. I also prefer shoulder bags because I have access to anything I need with just my right hand when I'm lucky enough to be holding a bass in my left.

  12. I have no idea how much line color matters. I'm pretty confident that fish can see line of any color. As far as I'm concerned, the X-Factor is to what extent, if any, line visibility affects a fish's willingness to strike.
  13. My friend and I fished there from a boat 6-7 years ago and got nothing. That, of course, proves nothing.
  14. Baitcasting or spinning? If spinning, after spooling, get out to some water and make a cast and retrieve the lure under its normal pressure. Or just do the same in the yard with a practice plug. If the problem persists, you may have to add or remove a washer from the shaft so as to get the spool properly positioned.
  15. Not a Broncos fan, but must agree with RW. I don't want to take anything away from Manning, he's great, but he's getting help from the #4 defense and one of the best offensive lines in the league.
  16. I use one of the aforementioned Cabela's. However, I sound like a broken record on the subject of tackle bags. There are a number of brands that are well made. First, determine what best fits your needs with regard to size, capacity, number of pockets and pocket configuration. Then buy it if it's a name brand or you otherwise believe it to be a well-made product.
  17. As to Flukes, there are a number of things you can do, but I think their #1 use is with a twitch-pause-twitch retrieve in relatively shallow water. Twitch and pause, leaving some slack in the line. The slack allows the bait to dart around erratically. They are a soft jerkbait and the erratic darting is something that both soft and hard jerkbaits do.
  18. I use the same one that Goose52 linked to. It's known as a stream thermometer and is usually found in the aisle where the fly fishing stuff is.
  19. I've used line that's been on a reel for years. Stored in a basement when not in use, not a problem.
  20. For years I used to fish near locks on the Erie Canal in areas that held bass, walleye and pike and everything hits anything. Walleye hit bass lures and bass hit walleye lures. As a broad generality, lures labeled as walleye are longer and slimmer than many of the bass lures that might be shorter, fatter and rounder. Couple of examples that come to mind are Wally Diver and Wally Demon. I often thought that the first of those could just as well have been named Smally Diver.
  21. I know nothing about that bag. However, whenever this subject comes up, I always say the same thing. Get the bag that's the right size for you and has the number of pockets and pocket configuration that best meets your wants and needs. I wouldn't concern myself with brand and model number as long as it's from a reputable manufacturer.
  22. Thanks. I just wasn't thinking. I can easily see how the bucket over the side can slow things down.
  23. I have a bucket in the bow which has 20-30# of water in it. That's for the purpose of trimming the canoe. I've never been out without it so I don't know if it slows the drift. But even with that it doesn't take much of a breeze to blow me around.
  24. Do you have a tackle shop in the area where the owner/employees might have knowledge about the club scene there?
  25. After the chuckles are over, the way things are going, the A.D. may have to post an ad for real.
