  1. I totally understand why anyone would feel this way but if I only bought rods I could get my hands on first, I wouldn't have many of the really great rods I have now. I live in a major city and I'm still very limited in what I can actually get my hands on, especially higher end non Loomis stuff. I've bought a few rods that were different than what I expected but I can always find a use for them. I've never ordered a rod and had it show up broken, lucky I guess.
  2. This is my Scheels store too. The fishing section is pretty big and they have a pretty good selection but not always a ton of everything. The last time I looked at rods they had Exprides, Adrena's, some Loomis, some St. Croix, a bunch of Levantes, a few different Dobyns Champ, Extremes and Furys...but not always more than 3 or 4 of each line. So they have some cool stuff but it was a bit hit or miss as far as individual rods. The gun department is amazing if that's your thing. Prices are pretty average but the selection of higher end rifles, handguns, shotguns, and optics equals or bests any gun shop I've ever been to. Their clothing selection is also stellar, they carry a lot of really high end brands that are usually only found in specialty stores, not general sporting good stores. It's one of those places you can spend a ton of money on stuff you didn't even realize you needed.
  3. The 1520 we were speaking of is actually the older version. I've got one in 6.3:1 enroute from Japan to go on a swimbait rod. I think it holds a decent amount more line than the newer version. It seems like the listed line capacity on many of these reels is different in Japan so it makes things confusing. I think our lines are thicker or we gauge our lb test differently than them.
  4. Yeah it's just one of those things I've come to accept. Made in China doesn't have to mean poor quality. I'll print you out some little MADE IN JAPAN stickers and you can stick them to all your rods and reels. ?
  5. None of Megabass' mainstream rods are made in Japan. I believe these (Arms Super Leggera) are but I don't know how hard they are to get. The Hook Up has them listed but I don't quite understand the options, semi custom I guess. https://thehookuptackle.com/collections/megabass-rods/products/arms-super-leggera-casting-rods?variant=42938371670183
  6. TW has a WAY bigger selection than Fish USA, and every other tackle shop in the country. FUSA might carry more colors of a specific bait but they don't have near the variety TW has. Their shipping has gotten slower over the years but I've never once paid for shipping so waiting a week or whatever to get an order is never a big deal for me. I've probably placed in the neighborhood of 75-100 orders with them and have had an issue here and there. They've always done whatever was needed to make it right.
  7. The Poison Adrena would be a great mid priced rod to try out.
  8. I would go FMJ. I have the X Bites, which I assume is the closest rod to the FMJ and it's pretty awesome. Super light, balanced and crazy sensitive. If I needed a 1/2oz+ jig rod the FMJ would be first on my list.
  9. Cool, you got a lot of the same stuff I did. I saw today that they ran out of the $200 boxes so I'm glad we got ours when we did.
  10. I would have personally just taken the frogs that I already liked and used and considered it a win. If I didn't want them I would have received them and then sent them back for a refund. Things happen and everything doesn't always work out the way you want them to, through no fault of anyone. It isn't the end of the world. What I wouldn't have done is call and be confrontational and angry with the CS person at TW and complain to a manager. I wouldn't have called my bank and stopped payment over a $20 order and I definitely wouldn't have put them on blast on a public forum. It just isn't a big deal and life is too short to get bent out of shape over easily fixable, cheap mistakes like this. Nobody is trying to steal from you.
  11. This post doesn't really make much sense but calling and telling a manager "what they're going to do for you" over a computer error is a bad look. Don't be a jerk to customer service people if they haven't actually done anything wrong
  12. Jigs Flat Sided Crankbaits Jerkbaits Lipless Crankbaits Spinnerbaits
  13. I assume that rod is based on the OG Tatula cranking rod Randy Howell used to win the Classic. The Daiwa graphite Regular action rods I've used are super versatile. Most JDM rods and I'm sure most US rods are made in China, it doesn't mean poor quality.
  14. I assume you mean Rebellion rods, not Tatula? What model did you get? I've handled a couple of them and own the 7'4" Heavy Glass rod. It is by far the best 1/2oz+ chatterbait rod I've ever used. It's super light for glass and has just the right amount of power. My buddy has a couple and really likes them. They seemed really light and crisp when I held them. Daiwa and Shimano both make excellent rods.
  15. Perfect, I'll be using the Zillion for smallish hardbaits in the 2-4 oz range. I know what the box says as far as line cap but that doesn't always translate to the real world. I'm going to buy one and I'll find something to do with it. ?
  16. Because the CB is a crankbait rod with a mod fast action. Each category has different powers even though they use the same numbers. A 5 power swimbait rod isn't the same as a 5 power crankbait rod or 5 power normal fast action rod.
  17. I don't have a Steez A but the A2 is awesome. The Zillion SV, HD and Alphas are awesome reels too, I have multiples of each and the price is right when buying JDM.
  18. I've got several guys between my regular roster and DTL showing zeros today. I've got Patrick Walters in 5th but showing zeros for the day in fantasy, along with a few others. Weird
  19. Nice, is the 15lb Tatsu going on the Zillion? I'm considering the same reel for similar baits but I'm undecided on the line and how much that reel will hold.
  20. Nice, I know some people hate glass but I find it really fun to fish, especially when you hook one. 6:1 is probably perfect for sq bills and shallow cranks.
  21. Post a pic when you get yours, I'm curious to see if you got different stuff than me.
  22. Decent first day, 3 more to go.
  23. I've got a Daiwa Alphas 800 with a Zillion 5:1 gear set and a 100mm handle on mine. You can use any gear ratio for sq bills and shallow cranks but I generally prefer a 5:1 or 6:1. The Zillion and Shimano Bantam are the first 2 reels I would consider if I were buying a new cranking reel and I would go JDM.
