  1. I ordered my heads directly from *** and they have Owner Cutting Point hooks.
  2. I just bought 8 *** heads for a trip next week. I'm curious to see if they live up to the hype. I will post back after I've had a chance to use them.
  3. H20 crankbaits are awesome. To me, they are the best house brand crankbaits out there. They just released 3 really cool new baits, the S, M and D. They share the same body with different bill sizes and are different than the previous s,m and d models. They also have some awesome new colors.
  4. Figure out what your budget is and what you want to do with the rod. Do you want a casting or spinning rod? How heavy are the baits you plan to throw? Peruse Mudhole and get an idea of how much grips, guides, thread, reel seats, equipment, finish and epoxy...etc cost. Do you have a wrapper and dryer? Go to rodbuilding.org and read every thing you can that pertains to the basics. When you figure out exactly what you want your rod to do and how much you want to spend, it will be much easier decide what blank to get. Rainshadow and MHX both make relatively inexpensive blanks that are quality. Using a kit for you first build might not be a bad idea just so you can learn how to do it. I'm not a fan of kits for anything other than that though. Picking out your own components is half the fun and what makes the rod truly custom.
  5. My entire hand is on the other, (tip end) of the trigger with my pinky resting against the trigger and the reel in the palm of my hand. I like to be in constant contact with the line, the whole set up balances better and it just feels natural. I couldn't hold the rod by the handle if I wanted to, it feels weird and it kind of looks weird when other people do it.
  6. This is about the 4th "it sucked" report I've heard.
  7. I pretty much only use baitcasters on my kayak. There aren't any reasons to use spinning gear over baitcasters, in my experience.
  8. I like fluoro for hard cover and braid for grass. A good, cheap fluoro is Sunline Super in 16 lb. For braid, I like 50 lb Sufix, either version is good.
  9. The bar started really, really low with Dez. Throwing a tantrum because you're upset that your team is playing poorly is different than throwing a tantrum because you're not getting the ball, the way other receivers do. I only know that because the audio is out there. When guys like Jason Witten defend him the way they do, it says something. I didn't say he was mature, I said he had matured a lot. lol At any rate, this thread is about Desean Jackson. Start a new one if you want to bash Dez.
  10. It's bad when Jerry is interviewed and admits that "Jerry the owner would have fired Jerry the general manager a long time ago." That's another thread for another day though. I just hope he doesn't try to sign Jackson.
  11. You are 100% right about that. Dez isn't the problem though.
  12. Don't compare Dez with Desean Jackson. Dez has been a model citizen the last few years. He is highly regarded by the veterans on the team as well as his coaches. He's matured A LOT since his first 2 years in the league.
  13. While a fantastic, dynamic player, Jackson always came across (to me) as a complete moron. The first time I ever saw the guy play he caught about a 40 yd pass from Donovan McNabb, against the Cowboys, and dropped it to celebrate before he crossed the goal line. My guess is the gang thing was either the straw that broke the camels back or a convenient excuse to get rid of knucklehead and bad influence on younger players. I give the Eagles props for cutting a guy who is an obvious asset on the field.
  14. I love his cork work! Nice rod!
  15. Heavy is the power, x-fast is the action.
  16. I'm a big fan of the Zoom WEC crankbaits. My favorite colors for stained water are Bull Bream, Chart Classic, Citrus Shad and Chart black. I love the E1's and E2's but fish the Wobbler a lot too.
  17. If the blank is broken at the tip, you are right. The way he worded the question, I thought maybe just the tip top itself was broken.
  18. There's no way of knowing what the tip sizes are without measuring the blanks or getting the specific info from the manufacturer. You would need to know the exact model #'s of the rods.
  19. Generally the lure maker will provide the tying method they recommend for a bait. If none are there, tie direct.
  20. This is what I would recommend as well.
  21. It depends on the lake, time of day, water color, weather, etc...
  22. Oh ok, I see. If the knot is deep enough in the spool that it won't come out in the cast, it doesn't matter so much what knot you use. You might just try it again with fewer turns if the size bothers you.
  23. Why do you need to join fluoro to fluoro? Most people like the Alberto or the uni to uni for joining lines.
  24. In all seriousness, when you fish large swimbaits you're generally fishing for the largest fish in the lake. You go into it knowing you might only get one or two bites a day and you might go several trips without catching anything. The flip side of that is knowing you have a better chance of catching the largest fish of your life. Like all other fishing though, it boils down to fishing the right locations at the right times. It's still just a bait/technique, nothing special besides that.
