  1. I keep mine in sandwich meat containers...They work really well, but sometimes gets hard to find specific jigs. DO NOT put your wet jigs back in the box though...Let them dry out first to prevent deforming and rusting.
  2. 1) BBB Fightin Frog 2) Lake Fork Craw Tube 3) NorthStar KnockOut or Black Series Jigs
  3. Cabela's paddle frogs....They have a great color that I love and they're actually more durable than other brands. I just have a lot of confidence in throwing frogs, so that is my choice 99% of the time. BTW, don't use the stanley double frog hook with these! I have had MUCH better luck hooking up using a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG.
  4. I throw the NorthStar Original Swim Jig in "new gill" most of the time, but when I am fishing deeper water or thicker vegetation, the NorthStar Flip & Swim is a GREAT choice... I like to throw either a craw or swimbait as a trailer, but experiment with trailers to see what they want!
  5. It's a tighter wobble, but this is my absolute favorite crank year around.
  6. Drop shots and flukes are good, but by far my most productive bait is the NorthStar Hair Jigs.
  7. This. The old saying "you get what you pay for" is as true as it gets when talking about fishing equipment. Generally lower priced jigs are not hand tied, which will lead to you spending more on replacing those jigs... Personally, I throw NorthStar because of the innovation and craftsmanship, but there are a lot of jig manufacurers out there that put out a great product that diserve your consideration when purchasing.
  8. When I am swimming a jig, I have either a NorthStar Flip & Swim or Original Swim jig tied on...For trailers, you can get really creative, but I tend to stick with 3-4" swimbaits or craws, and I throw both to see what they want on a particular day. For equipment I tend to throw my swim jigs on a 7' - 7'6" MH Fast Action rod paired with an e7 spooled with 12 lb Seagur Red Label.
  9. Anyone shoot this gun? I can get on in very good condition for $200..All the specs are exactly what I want and it beats the other gun I was considering (Franchi Afiinity) by over $500...Thoughts? Thanks, VC
  10. I like to throw the alien head most of the time...It stands up well and comes throw vegetation well enough.
  11. Like RyneB said, definitely use a leader with those expensive baits, but they do in fact catch bass. This time of year is a time to throw them here in Minnesota because the bigger bass are up feeding on baitfish and they want to hearty meal. Has anyone made a bullhead swimbait?
  12. NorthStar spinnerbaits IMO are the best on the market because of the durability, color selection, and innovation. The hidden weight gives you a smaller head profile which helps the spinnerbait come through cover better than other options. NorthStar also has a triple blade spinnerbait that you can find on TW that gives the bass a very unique look; the blades counter-rotate when you kill the bait and that creates some aggressive strikes!
  13. Lizards, along with worms, have been the top producing plastics of all time. Some people think their time has passed, but there are a few ways to fish them that are dynomite for me - topwater in pads and on a carolina rig.
  14. NorthStar Hippy Jig, Hair Jig, and Black Series jig are all tied on my line until ice over. These jigs were designed for a subtle, colder water action that the bass cannot resist. The hippy and black series jigs are bulkier, and give you a great chance at landing your biggest bass of the year, whereas the hair is a great all around option. Good luck!
  15. I love the bait as well, but they rip beyond mend-it repair on only a few bass...I have switched over to Big Hammer swimbaits and could not be happier.
  16. I have 3 rods tied up this time of year....NorthStar Hippy Jig, NorthStar Hair Jig, and a LC pointer in bluegill pattern....That is all I need.
  17. I generally slow down and throw a NorthStar hippy jig, hair jig, and LC Pointer.
  18. I love the Zoom chunks in all sizes and yes, they are a great fall/winter trailer, in fact that and the KISS craw are all I use. In the fall I use Super Chunks because the bass want a larger profile and they tend to attract the larger fish.
  19. Welcome to BR! You make some good points, but personally I just think the harsh seasons and amount of preditors make it make it very hard for a bass to grow to that size...not saying it's impossible, but there is a reason why you RARELY see a 7 come up. When bass bite, it's not always to eat, so your notion that the bigger fish aren't being caught because they only eat at night in my opinion isn't all that accurate. Not saying they aren't harder to catch, but if there were more out there, anglers would find ways to catch them, and I have never seen an 8lbr.
  20. NorthStar "New gill" has been by far the best producing swim jig for this year.
  21. NorthStar Jigs! Norman Cranks LC Pointers Drop Shot baits - roboworm, trick worm, etc. Spooks
  22. The colder it gets the more I throw a NorthStar Custom Baits hair jig. Jerkbaits, lipless cranks, & northstar swim jigs/flip & swim jigs are also great options.
  23. You'll should think about just signing up to follow your favorite lure companies! It's quick and easy to sign up and you can get great information about new releases, product testing, and best of all, you get chance every week to win free jigs!
  24. That is VERY intriguing!
  25. I have been meaning to put another order in for the Senorita color...I think that would be a great match. This year I threw the Pierces Perch color.
