  4. Hey BR! Hope all are doing well. I got out last night here in MN and got on a decent flipping bite. I was using a smaller tube craw to get those bites, but fall is known for those big girls putting the feed bags on and I couldn't seem to get anything to go over 2lbs. I then pull out a bulkier profile bait that included a punch skirt & 3/4oz tungsten. Right away I got nice bite that ultimately got herself free before ending up in my boat. Long story short, does anyone have a strategy with bait size in the fall whether that is smaller or bigger baits?
  5. Hey BR, I am in search for universal foam aftermarket knobs to switch out on my reels. Does anyone know where I could get my hands on some? Just hate the feel of stock on almost all reels except for the oversized ci4 spinning reel. Thanks in advance! VC
  6. I have thrown the Reaction Innovation Sweet Beaver in 'California 420' for a long time, but just recently I went to replenish and noticed that they didn't feel or look like the same bait - feels softer and not as defined variation of dark/light on the bait. Does anyone know if RI is starting a new process of pouring when combining colors? In my opinion that is what separated themselves from competitors....Probably just going to go lowest price now.
  7. Any other recommendations? Thanks!
  8. Thank you BR for the quick responses! That is the reason this site is so great... I took a look at my drag and it was set as tight as possible, so I loosened that up, got back out, and put a few fish in the boat without any issues..Hopefully that was my issue! Thanks again, VC
  9. Hey guys, I started using a punching setup and had gold success getting bites, but 2 out of 3 bites I broke my line...here is my tackle: 7'6" have rod, 50 lb power pro, gammy flippin hook, bobber stopper, and snell and palamar knot....what could my issue be? VC
  10. Hey BR, I am going to vacation in Napa early August and I was wondering if any of you had a recommended guide for Clear Lake. I am not bringing any of my tackle, so I am hoping to get out with a nice guide that has all of the tackle provide, and has great knowledge of the lake....without paying a premium. Let me know! Thanks, VC
  11. Yes, I have the double articulating model. That is a great point about the sun....Do you have yours right in front of the pedal or to the right?
  12. Hey BR, I have all my wiring done on my boat (thanks to Wayne. P) and wanted to know what you'll prefer for a mount on the bow of your boat. Right now I have the Dek-It and Ram mounts in my possession and I am trying to decide which one to keep. I do love how out of the way everything is with the Dek-It, but the Ram mount mount has a lot more versatility. Pictures and opinions of your setup would be great! Thanks, VC
  13. I have a 2004 Stratos 295 pro xl. That would be really nice to have!
  14. Hey guys, So now that I have my new 1198 and 998 units, I am looking to save some money and attempt to install them myself. I know this is going to be no easy task, so I was hoping my fellow BR members could post any videos/info or direct me to sources that will help this process go as seamless as possible. One question I have is how would you recommend running the wires from the bow to the console? wire snake? Thanks! VC
  15. Awesome! Thank you very much Wayne. I have ordered those two parts and will be attempting to install myself. Wish me luck!
  16. That is what I thought. Thank you Wayne for the confirmation. One other question I have is if I have a high speed tranducer already installed in my boat, but it's for lowrance units, will that work with my birds? Or do i need to buy a new one?
  17. Hey guys, I just purchased a few units that I am going to have installed on my boat, but can't figure out the tranducer situation. Either I use one for both units (installed in the rear), or I have to buy another tranducer for each to have their own. The problem I am having is that I love to follow my graph and drop baits right on the fish. If my bow 998 unit is reading from the back, won't I be off 20ft? Can I even run two tranducers without intereference? Any help is much appreciated. VC
  18. Thanks for all of your input...If I can find one used at a good price I am going to pull the trigger, so if you know anyone! In the meantime, I found a 7'1" Diawa Cielo on TW for $60!!! So i thought I would see how that works out first. Thanks again, VC
  19. Hey guys! I am still in pursuit of my perfect swim jig rod as it is my favorite technique and a lot of days that is all I am throwing. With that being said, I am looking for a light rod that also have a strong backbone and fast action to rip out of hydrilla/coontail. I have a Dobyns Champion Extreme 7'4" Heavy fast action for roller jigs and really like how that fishes swim jigs, but I need it to be a little shorter. Would the 733 fish similarly to that Extreme? Also, I am considering a gen 1 cumara 7'2" MH XF - how do those that own this rod feel about it when fishing swim jigs? Thanks, VC
  20. Honestly, this winter has got us thinking about moving to Austin.
  21. Yeah, that will consume your time, but there is nothing like college my friend!
  22. Lewi, You live in the Lakeville/Burnsville area?
  23. Most of the time I am fishing them on a swim jig. Most of the time the issue is the top splitting.
  24. Hey guys, I am looking to take the middle storage compartment out of my Stratos 295 Pro Xl and replace it with a fold down seat. I have heard that might not be an option because the gas tank is around that area and I could puncture it? Any help would be great. Thanks, VC
  25. Hey Rolo! Nice to hear from you as well. I love the Big EZ, but the fish seem to eat the swing impact a little better up hear....I do think the tail swings a lot wider, which really grabs their attention.
