  1. Natural, I think you hit it head on about the constant change in technology and equipment. As a 26 year old, I still find myself reluctant to try some of the newer lures out today, but I still read and watch as many articles/shows as I can to learn the new gear. I'm constantly adapting and trying my new gear, but haven't tried a few of the newest lures just because I tend to stick with what I know works. Still, education is a large part of fishing...and some of the older gentlemen aren't competing because of knowledge of newfound techniques and equipment by the younger men and women. Great topic by the way, thinking outside the box! Good luck to all!
  2. Well, it really depends on what types of fish you're after. A couple of recent posts on washingtonlakes.com reports are showing some nice sized bass from "Liberty Lake" not too far from our WA/ID border. Rock Lake is huge and deep, with many LARGE sized browns and can be a great Bass lake as well. Multiple species such as Bass, Browns, Cutthroats, Rainbows, and "sea monsters" that have never returned anyone who have fallen in. Bonnie Lake is Northeast of Rock Lake, and is only accessible through a "channel". Smaller fishing boats are able to ease up the narrow path quite easily, but this deters big "bass boats" and larger vessels from accessing the lake. The lake itself is about 4 miles long, and has an island (BLM owned) that you can camp on. Great fishing might I add! Of course, you have Newman not too far from Hauser, and some other lakes such as Downs, Williams, Chapman, Amber, Badger and some others within 30-45 minutes South of Spokane. *Downs Lake is in the middle of nowhere, and is covered in lily pads. Picture a maze, with overgrown lily pads and driving through "paths" across the lake. It's like "where's waldo" while fishing. Great Bass though, and some anglers this past weekend showed me some of their "tiger trout". Cool looking fish....too bad I couldn't catch the big Largemouth that was staring up at me through the water!
  3. As far as Eastern Wa is concerned, I think you would enjoy Banks Lake. (Hint: The Bass Tournament goes there for a reason) Other than Banks, many of our lakes will be similar to the waters that you fish currently. Some may disagree, but thought I would offer you another option for some fishing. It's been awhile since I've been to Twin Lakes...how is the fishing over there now?
  4. I have also searched high and low for some large Topo maps, but washingtonlakes.com has the best that I have found. I'll try searching some more...
  5. Alright, thanks for the information!
  6. Hello MK! I'm a new member here, but there is a lot of information already here in the forums about Sponsorship. Check out the "tournament talk" and "sponsor resume" sections. Both have a lot of useful tips about your interests! Good luck and Good Fishing!
  7. You'll land the big one sooner or later, just keep throwing your best at them. What's ironic about Peacock Bass, is that they aren't even related to our favorite game fish. I think they get the name just from the physical similarities... Hopefully you get a chance to hit the water for Memorial Day! Good luck Stan.
  8. Nice pictures Stan...peacock bass are definitely odd looking (To me anyways).
  9. IDBasser, I'm from Spokane and I talked to a woman at the DOL (where I bought my fishing license) and she told me that Washington State will most likely follow Idaho with this law, potentially next year. Couldn't say that I'm surprised!
  10. Hello everyone, This site is simply amazing! I've been looking for a well constructed "bass fishing" site and have finally found it. Everyone seems to be knowledgeable and courteous and I just wanted to say hello. I've spend the last few hours browsing around, and want to say special thanks to the creator! Anyways, hello from Spokane, Washington!
