  2. No doubt that the Citica and Curado are better reels, I own both. For $79 the PQ is a good deal. The question was for sub $100 reel, therefore I would still recommend the PQ.
  3. The BPS pro qualifiers are going on sale for $79 at the spring classic. Hard to beat at that price point. Do the reel trade in and they are even better.
  4. Costas are great. I have two pairs with the 580 glass and plan on buying another pair with 580P this year. You will be happy.
  5. I have two Shimano's E5's and they have served me well.
  6. Costa's.

    Cranks

Congratulations. I catch alot of fish in ponds on Bandit Footloose and 100 series cranks, but never one close to that big. Have been using the Bombers lately with some success too.
  8. I know you asked about Oakleys, but do yourself a favor and look at Costa Del Mars. www.costadelmar.com
  9. I second the Shimano Compres, also look at the Falcon BuCoo.
  10. Glad to see this post. I was trying to make the same decision. It will be another Curado for me.
  11. I was fishing in water this weekend that had five to six feet visibility & a friend was catching bass with red line. I was very suprised that the red line worked in water that clear. He was also throwing a bright yellow spinnerbait & catching fish also. Sometimes we out think ourselves.
  12. The best part is the warranty. I bought 4 rods for $100.00 (3 compres & one other shimano rod) One of the Compre's had a broken tip. Bass pro handed me a new one off the rack no questions asked. Lifetime warranty is hard to beat especially at the Compre price point. I have some more expensive rods, but none are a better value than the Compre.
  13. Please refresh my memory on what effects baro pressure has on fishing, Low, high, decreasing, or increasing---which is best for fishing?
  14. New info. It is actually a 1992 model. I know nothing about champions. but started looking at 1998 models online & noticed that the seats were different in this boat. He checked the paperwork and it is actually a 1992 model. I will probably pass & just look for one running.
  15. I have the oppotunity to buy a 1998 Champion 181 that is all original & has always been in dry storage. The boat is in overall excellent shape with matching Champion singe axle trailer. It has a color Lowrance fish/depth finder on the front (less than 2 yeras old), a original working Motor Guide trolling motor, Lowrance depth finder at the console. The problem is that the original Mercury Black Max has a blown powerhead. The owner did not have it advertised as I found it thru a friend. The boat has been sitting in enclosed storage for the last year and half. I can buy everything for $2,000 The owner has been very honest & straight forward & also guarntees all the electronics & trolling motor to work.. He said he would fix it, but he used it very seldom before it blew up. The boat looks great with very very little to no scrapes to the boat. Should I buy it? I can fix the motor my self. A new powerhead will be required. The owner has no idea why it failed. Thanks
  16. Pick up one of the BPS Extreme combos. They are always on sale and you will likely find something around your price point. X3 Check online before you go to the store. I was a few days late on the sale last month, but the fishing manager gave me the sale price anyway. $109.00 for the combo. Any extreme reel i ratio of your choice & extreme rod of your choice. I have since bought three.
  17. Bandit Footloose in chrome or pearl color. Went with three buddies yesterday to a new pond, two started with worms & the other started with a spinner bait. I caught four bass before any ot them had anything, one even borrowed a Footloose from me. I usually start with a crankbait, then switch to plastics.
  18. Fish the flukes yesterday for the first time with a buddy that uses them alot. We used pink/white & Arkansa shad colors, rigged weightless with #4 hooks. Never deeper than a foot & caught sveral fish. It is one of his favorite baits, as he has had great success with them. I tried the texas rigged with no luck.
  19. I have a small (now murky) pond in my back yard. We have done well on buzzbaits & shallow running crankbaits (Bandit Footloose). We have dinks up to a six pounder.
  20. Bandit Footloose Just getting back into bass fishing, but these have worked great for me this year. Chrome & black
