Here is my report from this Spring and early Summer.
Well, one of my main goals of this Spring was to get better at jig fishing. Let's just say, I definitely did. Of course you have you pre-spawn 6 and 7 pounders that slam spinnerbaits, but overall I caught a TON of fish on jigs. My main jig and color was a Strike King Tour Grade Football Jig in the Texas Craw color, 3/8 oz., with a green pumpkin Yum chunk trailer. Now, I fish mostly from the shore, so a lot of the cover I fish is basically right next to me. Either way, I still caught a bunch o' pigs this Spring on the jig. One day, it started raining, so my fishing buddy and I went home until it had passed. We then went out later, (by the way I had previously in the day caught a 4.5 pounder), and I caught a 5, and to cap off the whole day, a six. All on the jig. I have learned a lot about when and how to fish jigs, but that's not the end of the story. A couple weeks ago, I was using a 1/2 oz. black and blue Booyah jig, and I was fishing a long lay-down. I pulled an 8.16 off of it, my new PB. I love jigs now! I am also getting a ton of confidence in them. Now, if I could just catch some on a Senko.........
