  1. Thank you sir! Like I said, they weren't big, but it was nice to get on some decent fish. Next time I'm in Texas, you'll have to hook me up with some Texas hawgs ;D
  2. I REALLY should have brought the Shads. The isolated weed patches that hold the big girls are out, and I probably could have snagged a few. Tomorrow I'm going to go out around 3:00 to do that exact thing, and maybe flip some junk with a Space Monkey or Rooster.
  3. I got my package from Tackle Warehouse today. I got some Thumpers, Space Monkeys, Smokin' Roosters, and Shads. Also got some Mop Jigs and a Mattlures Baby Bass. Went out to the pond from 5:20-7:45. Tossed the Thumper Worm (Bama Bug) around for a while, and MAN the action on these things awesome. I have so much confidence in this worm already. Caught some nice fish, a couple of three pounders. Big-O, you have one awesome thing going. Thank you for making such an awesome, quality product. This was my first time using them, but I know a bunch of other people use them and catch tons of fish. Thanks again dude Nothing big, but nice fish any day.
  4. Actually, the rod I think I would want to get would be the 7'3 Heavy Split Grip. TW lists the full grip model as an Extra Heavy, but the Falcon website says it's a Heavy. That might actually be better, considering the absence of a foregrip. I also like splitgrips more. Who knows!
  5. Nice, thanks for the reply. I have the Lowrider Lizard Dragger, and it's definitely more like a MH. So do you think if I got the XH it would be closer to a true Heavy?
  6. What I have noticed is that hook eye diameter and line diameter need to be proportional. I bet if you tied that 10lb to a swivel, or dropshot hook instead of that big ole EWG, youll find that it retains it's strength. Can you use it with braid? Cool little knot.
  7. You should definitely get that rod. I have the same model, great for Rage Craws and lobsters, and basically anything else. It's a really sensitive rod too.
  8. Sounds like an awesome place Kent. Gotta love the small ponds with big, healthy fish.
  9. Has anyone used the 7'3 H Cara Amistad Split Grip, or the 7'3 XH Cara Amistad (non-split grip)? I'm just wondering if the Cara T7's are also really overrated in power. Basically I'm looking for a really stout lower half, like a flippin' stick. I've heard from numerous friends the T7's are super sensitive. If I (eventually) get this rod, it will mostly be used for Rage Tailin' with 65lb Power Pro.
  10. Well, I had a long break from fishing this Spring. Now that I'm getting back in to it, I thought I might "start a new beginning" ;D
  11. Fat-G is now PitchinJig. Wanted to change it up a little
  12. As for the reel, Shimano Curado 200e7. Rods, there's many great choices in the $200 range. St. Croix Avid, Facon Cara T7, Shimano Cumara, etc etc.
  13. Rage Tail Thumpers Rage Tail Space Monkeys Rage Tail Smokin' Roosters Rage Tail Shads Mop Jigs XCaliber Xj4 Jimmy Revenge Spinnerbaits Tru-Tungsten Bullet Weights (1/4 oz., 3/8 oz., 1/2 oz.) Gamakatsu Spring-Lock Superline EWG 5/0
  14. I bought the 6'8 MXF "Finesse" Spinning Rod as an "emergency" rod to use for various stuff. I have to say, these rods are legit. They're actually really sensitive and light, and the actions are crisp. I usually would never buy a Field and Stream rod....well anything Field and Stream actually, but I would definitely buy another one of these rods. I would pay $100 for one, too. If you guys ever need a rod in a pinch, be sure and try one of these out. Besides their performance, the appearance is on par with Vendettas. I think the guides are Fuji Alconites, but I'm not positive. I know they're nice guides for a $60 rod. Try one out!
  15. So, I'm thinking about getting one of these. Are they rated well or underrated? I might get the 7' MHF, but I want it to be pretty stiff, mostly for soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and lipless cranks. Mostly an all around rod. I've heard great reviews so far!
  16. Brush Hog, 10" Power Worm.
  17. Yes sir I do! Sorry about the cookout, baseball was an overload. Everyday. Haven't been able to get on BR for some time now, glad to be back! Thanks for the advice.
  18. Paul, that's pretty awesome man. What kind of stuff are you doing to manage the pond? I have a pond I would like to do "something" to, but I don't know what the "something" is. Basically, manage it for trophy bass. I just don't know where to start.
  19. Dang Steve, after all these posts, you made me stock up on Rage Tails ;D
  20. You tell me...
  21. I'm only getting one or two bags of each
  22. I'm about to drop $50 at TW, mostly on Rage Tails. Never tried them before, but I know I need to based on Big O's posts in the outing section. I'll be fishing Thumpers, Smokin' Roosters, Space Monkeys, Shads, and Lobsters a lot in the future. I'm getting a Mattlures Baby Bass too. REALLY excited for that. As for the weights, the only 3/8 oz. tungsten bullet weights they have in stock are the Gamblers. I usually get the Tru-Tungstens. Has anyone used the Gamblers? They have the plastic inserts......
  23. i have always felt that 50 lb. braid is way more than plenty for frogging , i usually use 30 lb. power pro . i have on 50 lb. power pro , had an extra spool for catfishing so i spooled up my Revo SX HS , i couldn't imagine using 65 lb. !!!! :-? I've had and seen 50lb braid fail on multiple occasions. Frogs catch big fish, and a major part of frogging is done in heavier cover, no reason to give the fish any advantages or chances. There's really no down side to using 65 over 50, only positives. I personally use 70lb braid with frogs, and 80lb with flipping and punching. Spinning reels are another story! This dude right here ^ knows his stuff.
